Ms. Mueller told me that they won't send us rejections (if we are ultimately rejected) until towards the end of March so they can ensure a full program. Apparently most of the labs have filled up already so I'm bummed I haven't heard anything either yet.

Aside from that, has anyone heard back from Clinical and Translational at Mayo?

Guys I am so bummed out by this entire process. I absolutely hate this "silent rejection" BS. I have not heard from any of the 3 programs I applied to and I have also emailed to coordinators. Dead silence. I am losing hope and I wish they would just HAND me a goddamn rejection instead of handing out literally all of the acceptances to people who got in and waiting to ensure a "full program" at the expense of my anxiety. This entire process has sucked. I don't even know what I did wrong, or what I could have done better. I am just completely gutted.

Hang in there. I’ve gone through plenty of rejections and setbacks in the past and I know it’s extremely frustrating. Happy to talk stats and stuff in PMs if you’d like to. Don’t lose hope and keep pushing forward.

Lack of communication can be VERY frustrating, but I believe they haven't notified you of your decision yet because they are still potentially considering you! I know most, if not all, programs send out acceptances and if people decline their offer, they would offer that spot to someone else... So you not getting a rejection letter may mean that you still have a chance of getting in if someone else drops out 🙂 Hang in there. I totally understand the frustration as that has happened to me with a few internships I applied to this year !

I applied to the biological SIGNALS program at UW-Madison, the USREV program at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Mayo's SURF, the biomed SSRP at Marquette, Pitt's SURF, the Medical College of Wisconsin's SURF, Columbia's Amgen program, Scripps' SURF/REU, and the leadership alliance (UChicago, UMaryland-Baltimore County, and UMiami). Still waiting on all of them
 
I was waitlisted for Iowa SUMR on 2/20. They told me they were waiting on two people until this past Tusday. Have you heard from them @rcotter ?
 
Got an acceptance to NIH AMGEN today! Currently waiting to hear back from the other sites (Berkeley, Stanford, Hopkins, Columbia, Yale) but will most likely choose NIH since it was my first choice.

Fingers crossed to everyone in the waiting process!

Yeah. I just wished I had applied to more than just leadership alliance...I would have definitely felt better if I was waiting on multiple decisions. Thank you for the kind words 🙂

I ended up turning down Iowa SUMR once i got offers from clinical programs because I’ve been prioritizing a clinical research internship over a basic science research one. Now I’ve just got to decide between the clinical ones

I saw you got into the UW NSSSP. I just got in today and was wondering if you were considering going there! I’m hoping for more of a basic science focus and I can’t tell if NSSSP is right for that. Also did they give you a deadline to respond? because all they told me was “as soon as possible” (and I have no idea what that means).

From what I've heard/read, its pretty clinically focused as opposed basic science oriented... have you gotten in elsewhere else that would be more focused on basic science yet?

Looks like most acceptances being handed out around March 21st. But in one of the older threads I saw someone talk about interviewing way earlier than that, something like March 3rd I believe. :thinking:

I’m thinking about it! It seems like a really cool program, especially for premeds given the shadowing opportunities and OR observation. I got the “as soon as possible” request too. Gonna milk that as long as possible lol

Thank you!! I think like ~15 or so students from the UCSF SRTP program are under Amgen funding so they're in the Amgen Scholars program but technically everyone in the SRTP program does the same thing except the Amgen people get to go to the symposium in July? The administrator (Julia Clark) said once the cohort is finalized, they'll determine the source of funding for each student but rn I have no idea how they do it and which funding I'm under

I haven’t gotten a rejection letter from SIP yet, and they were supposed to notify us by yesterday ... Did you get an email rejection or was it just a portal update?

I received an email notifying me of my rejection. I applied to the basic sciences division. This could possibly mean you are on the waitlist?

Gotcha. I applied to FARMS, so i’m unsure about those admissions decisions...

When I was at NIH last year, I got an email. My portal didnt even update. Usually rejections go out after acceptance. Best of luck!
