This is a bit depressing. Apparently, the school has issued acceptance to a few off the waitlist. There're still about 100 of us on the waitlist and the class is full. It's very difficult to say how many of us have a realistic chance to get in this year. Deanna said the % of students getting in off the waitlist ranges from 10% :( to 50%. Any changes regarding your status will be reflected on your online status page. Anyway, I'm back to:

Hey PW...

Did you hear this from monotone guy or Deanna? I called two days ago and monotone guy told me they are still reviewing. It is so frustrating hearing all this conflicting info. The only reliable info seems to be that the waitlist is being kept at 100 which is much better than what I thought it would have been.

I talked to Deanna. I've decided a while back that it's pointless to harass that monotone dude for info.

Well, at LEAST they've started moving into the waitlist. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Well, the monotone dude, as always, has contradicted Deanne....he said that there will be no reflection on the status page and that the "committee is now starting to review the files" Can somebody please tell me how to bypass the monotone dude and to get to talk to someone else.......please!!!!!!! He's the most frustrating person...and I always see him in CHS too!!!!!

What I do is "may I speak with Deanna please?", then he goes, "may I ask who it is?". Then I go, "this is *my first name*"...he then transfers me to Deanna.

a spot at UCLA will be open if they grant me a deferral this late in the year. So everyone pray that I am granted my request.

5297...are you out there? have you heard from your source whether or not they have been sending out acceptances from the waitlist...i don't know who to believe anymore. damn ucla

Deanna may not be able to predict exactly how the waitlist will move THIS YEAR, but she as an admissions officer should have info up-to-date. And, just ignore what the monotone guy says.

5297, can you ask your source about this year's movement?

thanx for the reality check patiently waiting :)
i just want that info to be untrue so that i won't feel like the chances are slowly dissipating. oh well. thanks again for always providing the up to date info!

Hello everyone. Before I start anything I have to say GO LAKERS! Back to more important matters, my reliable source hasn't been able to provide any new relevant info. Just a few days ago, however, she did say that movement would begin by this week. This would explain Deanna's comments about the few students being pulled off the waitlist. Sorry I can't provide anymore info. I hope everything works out for all of us, I know that I am getting really stressed  .

One more thing. My reliable source also continues to say that usually 50% are pulled from the waitlist every year. Whether or not this year will be different is extremely hard to predict. Especially since interviews went all the way into late May. I will continue to pray for us all  .

If UCLA has an unranked waitlist, how do they determine which waitlistees to review first? Is it based on the date they were waitlisted (ie first come first reviewed) or do they have some kind of internal system or is it totally random?

Just wondering if anybody's status page has changed to correllate with the movement of the waitlist.
Patiently Waiting,
When you spoke to Deanna yesterday, did she state any specific time when the staus page would change with the newly accepted waitlisted students. Thank you so much for your help :D .

Thank you so much for your help :D .•••••No specific time mentioned. Based on what I know, the adcoms change the applicants' status as soon as they reach a decision. They do it so quickly that someone like Deanna doesn't sometimes know that the new decisions've been made. I remember back in November calling the office to confirm what I saw on my status page (which was "interview requested") was really true, and Deanna or the monotone guy didn't even know that an interview's been offered to me. I had to beg the person to log into my status database and check. It's too bad that none of us were the ones to be pulled off the waitlist. It would have been very helpful to find out about the date(s) of the status change among many things.

Concerning the status check on the web, I was just taken off the wait list, and I found out before I got the letter because the date on which my final decision letter was mailed changed on the web site (it used to say it was mailed on April 19, then yesterday it said that the letter had been mailed June 10). I called the admissions office and they said I got in. Hope this helps, and good luck to everyone!

Do you guys think that once Harvard, UCSF, Yale, and Wash U's waitlists start moving.... that will make UCLA's move a little more?

did you guys do your FAFSA and CSS Profile for UCLA?

My friend just got pulled from the waitlist yesterday. She received a letter in the mail.

I did put down UCLA as one of the six schools to view my FAFSA info.

FYI- For those of you who interviewed in May:

I just spoke to the adm office (and not the guy who always picks up the phone) and they said there are about 5 of us that they are waiting to decide on and we should know by next week.

A shout out to all those still waiting :) ,

I wondered if anyone knows how UCLA goes about pulling off people from the waitlist? From previous posts I've noticed that people getting in this late into the game appear to have interviewed before March and got their final letter before June. I don't belong to this crowd (interviewed end of March, final letter dated 5/6) so does that mean I'm further down the list than others? Also, I read some post stating that people who applied URM only get placed into a URM slot should another URM decide not to attend. Does this mean that if a non-URM withdraws, then a URM applicant like myself won't even get considered for such a spot?

People that are on the waitlist.
Do you mind putting your stats (MCAT, GPA, Resident State) for those applying this year.

I remember Dr. Momo said he interviewed in May and heard back last week. I am not sure what the outcome was. Dr. momo??? We would know by next week she said. I didnt ask her name but she seemed to know what she was talking about. She even put me on hold to get my file it seemed and said, "hold on, let me try and tell you what is going on"

Any other May interviewees that already heard back?

Miss medicine and scoob, how many interviewees were there on your day? There were two others the day I was there.

I called and monotone guy didn't tell me anything new other than my application was still with the comittee. He wouldn't give me an approx time when I should hear from them, and when I asked how many were waiting to hear from UCLA post-interview, he would only say: "several", with a rudish tone. I think monontone guy has taken a toll this year and he's turing into "rude guy".

I'm sending in housing for another school...and that costs 300 to save my place :)
I need to send it in tomorrow...

I need to send it in tomorrow...•••••hmmm...i was in that situation once and a friend recommended doing this: pay your deposit with one of those special checks that your credit card can give you (works like a cash advance). then if you end up going elsewhere, call your credit card company to reject the charge. my friend claims it works.

highly shady though!!! but it makes for a good story... damn i'm bored. c'mon, UCLA. hurry up.

oh well, we'll hopefully get news this week.

Hi all -- long time no see!

Just an update -- still no word here and I'm not expecting anything :D , but I'll keep my fingers crossed... getting in that san diego frame of mind anyways

Good luck to everyone. I think I saw only 1 of us get in so far? Hopefully there are more, even if I'm not included. I know how much (kidney, ne1?) we all want it. Okay, maybe I wouldn't give a kidney to get in. how about some teeth? :)

Enjoy your summer meanwhiles and try not to spend too much time panicking about UCLA :D .

peace

Got a letter sent today. I called afterward and monotone guy would not tell me the content of the letter other than that I have to wait. DAMN!!! I imagine that if I got in he would've had Deanna or someone tell me over the phone. Did anyone have the office not tell them the content of the final letter and yet have it turn out to be an acceptance?

ARGH!

I have the same thing on my page!!!

I had a letter sent today :(

After they told me a decision would not be reached until Friday too....ah well....I'm expecting waitlist (or rejection).

Cuz I assume if it was an acceptance they would have called me ASAP to say "Don't send in that 300 dollars to the other school!" :)

Not that I know, but I would speculate that they very well may be acceptances. UCLA must have had at least a few people turn it down for better schools.

Damn I had a letter sent today as well. Does anyone know if UCLA calls people when they offer acceptances or is it via snail mail. I figure its going to take at least two days to get out to me.

To give you guys hope;

My friend had the Final Decision Letter "sent" status after his interview and called in and asked if he could find out what it was. The guy looked up his name and then told him that he could not release that info to him.

Since the guy decided to look up his name even after knowing that is was regarding the Final Decision Letter status....and the guy said that he was not allowed to release that info... my friend was sure it wasnt an acceptance.

Well...it turned out to be an acceptance letter in a small envelope.

So... I hope that helps you guys in staying hopeful. Good luck!

Here's my info. When i last spoke to monotone guy, he said all notifications would be done by snail mail. That includes acceptances.

Does anyone know if there's been any recent movement with the wait-list?

my status page is still EMPTY :( and I know that I interviewed at least BEFORE Scooby. I dont know what to make of it. It's not long before classes start. How much longer can it take? Am I the ONLY person without a decision yet on my file??!

nray, were you on the WL? If so, then it is for sure an acceptance. If you were NOT on the waiting list, do you mind sharing when you interviewed?
