TUCOM-NV Discussion Thread 2009-2010

I called yesterday. They said the said the app should be that day up or they would send an email with an update. No email, and as far as I know, no application. Does someone know something I don't? We'll probably hear something on Monday, I'm guessing.

That sounds about right. I believe that they're going to e-mail us when the supplemental app is ready, and that the current one posted on their website is the app from last year. Anyways I guess it's more waiting. I'll probably e-mail admissions on Monday or Tuesday to see what the plans are for the app's release, if it's not released by then.

To make matters a little more confusing I called the school on Wednesday, and was told that the new app would probably be out on Friday (but maybe Monday), and that it would probably be the same app as last year but they weren't sure yet.

Has anyone filled out the 2009-2010 supplemental yet?

I would wait and call again on Monday or see if they send an email invite to fill it out. I received an email around the 20th that said the application would be available online on or around the 31st, but remember not to fill out the application unless they invite you to do so!
 
Can anyone tell me what time the interview day is supposed to end? Airline changed my flight, and I don't have all the details with me at the moment to reschedule it. Thanks!

I really hope the secondary is easy.
 
Got an invite for an interview today. I sent in my letters last week. I think that was all they were waiting for. They still do not have my transcripts, so they must not need them to offer interviews.
 
Is it true that the secondary application fee is $200?
 
WOOHOO, first interview invite! I applied last year to 20 schools and got 1 interview @ Meharry in April. It looks like this cycle will have a lot more success. :luck:

Last year it was $100 and CIB says it is $100.

Thanks! My interview is September 15th. I live in vegas so luckily I dont have to travel.

I wonder how complete this is. TUCOM-NV graduates arouns 130 students, only 55 residency spots are listed. I know that each residency spot takes multiple people usually but I wonder how many grads got into a residency on their first try.

I'm interviewing on the 21st. They had a 15th spot available when I called, but I'm interviewing at RVU that day. Good luck to all!

Hoping to get it soon. It has been pushed back like three times now! Why dont they just email the PDF for this year, ensuring the fields are fillable, so at least the people interviewing within the next month can get it done and submitted.

i saw last year's secondary, it was the same as touro ca. if that is the case then it shouldn't take too long, but if they change any questions, i'll be pissed.

Any of those interviewing on the 15th, also interviewing at TOURO CA on the 14th? I'm a little nervous going from one interview straight to the other, but the flight was around $150 cheaper to do it that way as opposed to booking two separate trips.

i know the secondary fee for touro NY is 200 bones.
 
i dont even want to interview here anymore, this school is so disorganized. they said august 8th will be the day we get our secondary, via email or online. now its august 10th.

I have to admit it is very disappointing. Like I said, just send us a PDF attachement. It would be so much easier. Well, we'll see.

I am actually looking at it like its a good thing. As though they are a little more laid back, and aren't as caught up in the whole timeline of the process. It makes me feel like they are more concerned with who an applicant is as a person, rather than how an applicant looks on paper. I'm probably reading too much into it, but somehow it makes me feel better!
 
The secondary was sent to me via email this afternoon. The fee is $100. The prompt is as follows:

Describe the personal characteristics you possess and the life experiences you have had that would contribute to you becoming an outstanding osteopathic physician. Please include information that will enable the Admissions Committee to understand your unique qualities. (Please attach additional pages as needed.)

An added bonus from the TUCOM- CA application is you can submit this one via email... nice!
 
After the interview, how long does Touro NV take to make a decision? The reason I am asking is I know we are given two weeks to make a decision about whether we are going to go there or not after the acceptance. Does that mean they usually don't place a person on hold??

The reason I am asking is because, obviously, Touro NV isn't my first choice considering I live in Michigan (want to stay close to home). However, I want to keep my options open, and keep Touro NV as a backup interview. Any suggestions on when I should plan to interview?
 
When I scheduled my interview, they said we would be notified within two weeks. This means you would have at most 4 weeks from the day you interview to decide on the school. The deposit isn't cheap, either: $2,000! All but 100 is refundable, but still, that is a lot of money to have tied up.
 
Do you guys know if they will be giving out pre-secondary invites still even though the secondary is available? My last letter should be received in a few days, and I'm just wondering if I could be getting an interview before I send out my secondary plus fee.
 
I've decided to cancel my interview here for 9/1. Hate to do it but I had to do it to some school so I picked this one. Have to be able to focus more resources on my other schools, which are higher on my choice list anyway.

i wish i canceled it too. i had my interview yesterday, the long flight really drained my energy.

I know what you mean, i don't know how lucky in the process i'll be, so i'm just planning on taking relatively early interviews to give myself the best shot of AN acceptance. If i get multiple acceptances...well there's worst things in life.

WE interviewed the same day. I sat by you in the lobby when we first arrived. Where is touro-nv on your list? You going to accept the acceptance?

Even if you get a pre-secondary interview invite you will still need to send in your secondary along with the fee before you have your interview. So you might as well turn it in because you're not going to be able to get away without paying, unfortunately. Good luck!

Haha, you misunderstand. I quickly wanted to update my sdn buddies before running around and calling everyone I know. I am definitely excited. I have been writing my name with "Dr." in front of it all morning.

So the order of information was SDN, then friends and family? 😛 Congratulations, man. Are you going to accept, or are you going to wait to hear from other places?


I finally got my secondary in this last week. How did they notify you guys that they had received your info?
