the delay really is unfortunate.

i am also really dissapointed in that Oscar never mentioned the Accepted Waitlist when we interviewed.

In terms of the waitlist he just made it seem like there was high medium and low.

Why would they not be covered by insurance? I got a physical last year just because it had been a while and I wanted to, including a CBC and urinalysis and my insurance covered it with co-pay. Just wondering why you say insurance might not cover. Is it some kind of special physical, lol? I have extremely good insurance coverage. Although of course, I would not pay out of pocket for these things if my insurance won't pay, since there is the chance of not getting in. What are these tests that take so long and are so expensive? I have up-to-date TB (done in Dec), Varicella titer last year. Tetanus is up-to-date. How often does MMR have to be done? My immunization record shows last one in 1991. I did all 3 Hep B shots, finishing the 3rd in 2003. I only did the 1st Hep A shot though. What other tests are there? You are right though that I don't believe that my insurance will cover vaccinations that they don't deem necessary.

I just want to feel like I am able to do something towards the goal of starting school in August. *sigh*

The cost of tests and such being pricey is based solely on the responses I got from the schools when I e-mailed asking what I could do so I wouldn't have to scramble if/when i got in. They just said to hang tight and I'd be informed if I was accepted.

I think the only potentially expensive things are the background check, physical (depending on how comprehensive it is required to be) and any immunization titers, etc. that you need to get.

Did he not mention it in your interview? He definitely mentioned it in ours, although I'm not sure I understood completely. Would it have made a difference?

Ok, well that makes sense. It's good to see that I'm not the only one that was wondering about trying to do these things ahead of time while on the wait list. I believe that I am fully up-to-date on my immunizations, from what I've read. My mother kept good records in my immunization book when I was a kid, which is good. I guess I just wanted something to do because being on any wait list is the most helpless feeling. =( Is it June 15th yet?

I have a question for those planning on attending Touro-NV:

A few days ago we received an email about the health insurance through the school - I'm married, so I will need to either make my wife get her own insurance or add her to my school insurance, but does anyone else think that the insurance is extremely high priced? To add my wife is almost not even affordable - like over $500 per month for both of us (we don't even have kids).

Our current insurance will not cover us in Nevada, even as students 🙁

Or am I just crazy? I would really like to hear what others are planning on doing for their health insurance.

I'm in a similar situation in that I have excellent health insurance here in AZ, but it does not exist in Nevada. I don't have any dependents though, but I have heard others talk about the extremely high cost of adding a spouse to the plan. There is always the option of either shopping around for a different plan for both of you or just for your wife. You don't have to use the school's health insurance, you just have to provide proof of insurance for yourself. I believe there were some others discussing the high cost of adding a spouse on the Facebook page. Please let us know if you find a more affordable plan that seems to provide good coverage. The people who are already accepted are not invited though, they didn't have to go through the hell that were goin through lol. So whose in?

Yes! Of course love for all from all wait lists. And Go SUNS! (I'm from Phoenix. I bet this will get some response from some Lakers fans since I know Touro gets a lot of CA applicants. 😀)

And I doubt there was a typo. I just think it's weird that they require Hep A. Who's had that one, unless they've traveled extensively?

nope, no typo. i contacted Dr. Hedger, who is in charge of the health forms, to ask if one dose is enough and he said 2 doses of hep A vaccine are mandatory. "The purpose of both, is to build your immune titer to hepatitis A completely."

i dont know about the rest of you, but I stumbled across this page specifically looking for the meaning of "accepted wait list" i literally typed those words into google. I'm assuming that many here originally came looking for the same thing. Had i been on a regular waitlist i would not have been confused enough to search and find this forum.

Just got off the phone with susan in the admissions office. She said the meeting has been moved but she didn't mention June 15th. Oscar will be away for 2 weeks after may 15th. And currently, nobody has dropped their seat and the class is still full.

Being that the school is in close proximity of the Las Vegas strip I will regularly be wearing sports coats and vintage suits to class, as an homage to the immense culture that has preceded us in the desert.

I have also been known to wear two piece, monochromatic, jogging suits in an attempt to be stylish and sleek whilst maintaining a high level of comfort and contentment.

That is the last deposit for those that were accepted earlier on...I believe it was 2,000 within the first two weeks upon acceptance and then an additional 1,000 by May 15th. For anyone after that it is 3,000 within two weeks.

There is no third deposit. There were just 2 deposits -> the initial 2,000 and the 1,000 that is due on May 15th.

I wouldn't be surprised if they get a couple folks who don't bother to inform them they will be going somewhere else who already paid a chunk of money. I suspect they'll have a much better list of who is going by the opening of business on Monday.

Whoever's calling should call before noon on Tuesday or maybe even Monday afternoon. This is from the website:

"Holiday
Touro University Nevada will close at noon on Tuesday, May 18 in observance of Shavuot. The university will reopen on Friday, May 22."

May 22 is Saturday btw...so maybe they'll reopen on the 21st??
