Good luck deciding, but you gotta admit, its a good mess to be in!
Well, just yesterday I drove down to Tucson for the day to put down a deposit on a place to live. Today I was in the process of registering for the classes and right at the moment I was doing that, lo and behold I get a phone call from Tara at Phoenix. It is even stranger than when I recieved word about my Tucson admit (see page 7 of this thread). I am now convinced there is a UofA conspiracy to drive me insane!
Anyways, originally I had preferenced Phoenix and was sure I would have picked that over Tucson. But now, having been to second look at tucson and having thought about Phoenix in the meantime, I am not sure.
I'm torn, although now I am leaning towards tucson. I don't know if I am partial to it just because I had convinced myself I was going Tucson (without a phx acceptance) or because I have had legitimate second thoughts about phoenix.
Crap.
in that case, microbes....
I don't know about any movement, sorry. I just asked because I had read some previous posts discussing the possibility of Phoenix using Tucson's list. At this point it is really a moot question. Good luck with Phoenix though!I can vouch for the fact that PHX has definitely not exhausted their list, as I am still on it🙂 Do you know if it has seen any movement lately?
I just got the call! accepted to Phoenix at 8:45. Tara said I'm at the end of the class and they are getting close to set WOOHOO!

I was rejected outright by Tucson. Tara said that I got in at the tail end of the whole process and that they think they are almost done with waitlist movement. In other words, I backed in to med school😳
Fabulous!!!!
I have a question for those of you living in Tucson right now. I'm looking for a place to live near the U and was wondering how the bus system works around the area. I know there's the Cat Tran (I think thats what its called), but I didn't know how reliable it is and if it runs all day. Also, how is the public bus system in Tucson around UMC? I'm looking at some places: one house (that has no roof on it right now) on Waverly and another on Norton, north of speedway. Any advice or suggestions would be awesome!
They don't rank it numerically.Where does Phoenix stand for the waitlist number?
They don't rank it numerically.
We've discussed this but nobody really knows because phx won't divulge much regarding how much total movement they have had or how they do it. Apparently they group you into some kind of tier system. Its possible the tiers themsevles are ranked relative to each other in some way, or its possible they just represent different types of applicants so they can keep the background of the class broad. dunno. What process do they use to select from the waitlist?
I'm looking for a place right now too. Let me know if you find anything special and I'll do the same.
Hey MedMan-
I've been looking online for places mainly and also just driving around the area. Some good websites are thepepper.com, trulia.com, and craig's lists has some stuff too. Basically anything in the 85719 or 85716 area is relatively close. I've found some reasonable condos/townhomes off of north Prince, east of Campbell. I didn't think that was too bad of a drive. Also, since the housing market is really bad right now, a lot of places are in foreclosure, so you can get them pretty cheap. Thats all I have as of now. Hope it helps.

Were you #59?
Hey ROOTER76...did you decide on a campus yet?
I would love your seat at Tucson 🙂
Thanks, I appreciate it 🙂. I just can't stop obsessing. I've gotten my hopes up all over again and I just don't want to see it come crashing down like when that acceptance letter never showed up...
Hey guys. I am really happy that UofA has such an active student doctor link. Anyway, I got a few questions.
#1 What does it take to be consider an in state resident. I have been away (grew up in Gilbert) to Colorado for undergrad and professional school in California for the last 8 years. Anyway, I have accepted a job that will have me in Texas from the end of July until November when I will be transferred back to Phoenix. I am not applying until next summer so is Nov 2008 until I apply Jun 2009 enough time to be considered an in state applicant?
#2 My job will force me to learn some Spanish but I defiantly will not be fluent. I am thinking about taking time off and moving to Mexico in order to pick up Spanish. I know UofA really favors Spanish speaking applicants. Do you think this is worth it/will help my application? Not sure how my company will feel about me taking a few months off.
Thanks for everyone's help.
