probably bad. I took it as "you aint getting off the waitlist bruh.. "
that's how I took it considering I've already done a program similar to this lol

I don't know if that's a good or bad thing for the people that received this email.
I didn't get the email and took that as a bad thing cuz I figured they'd send the email to people they want the most. So who knows I guess we'll see if theres more movement

if you got Masters email means you do not have chance to get off waitlist?? that is sad...

The statement that getting an email regarding the MBS program means you don't have a chance of getting off of the waitlist is completely unsubstantiated. It could just as likely mean the opposite.

I wonder if there were any more interview dates after 3/17? Anybody have an II for April?

Does anyone know if there were any acceptances from the 3/17 interview date? All I've heard about is people being placed on the waitlist. Wondering if we were even interviewing for available spots, or just waitlist

After lunch on interview day, I spoke with Jessica Priddy, one of the admissions recruiters. She said that it was likely for waitlist spots. So, the last acceptances I have seen on here were from earlier interview dates. Also, there were people accepted off the waitlist the same day we got our waitlist notifications. I am assuming the class was already full.

I'm aware of at least 2 people who were accepted into the class from the 3/17 interview date.

i really wonder how many waitlisted students are going to take up the mbs offer. has anyone here applied?

I did not get that email, but I applied to the MBS program in December. I don't know if I would get automatic admission to the MBS considering I didn't get that email and am on the waitlist. However, I got accepted into UNT MS in Medical Science Which is $12000 for the year instead of $36000 for UIW. So I have an option. I am kind of regretting not applying to the DO program first. I applied and was complete by late January/Early February. I ended up getting an interview and waitlisted from the 3/17 interview day.

has anyone that received this MBS email received a formal acceptance into the MBS program?

A friend and I both submitted our MBS applications last night. We were both guaranteed admission. We received no confirmation of acceptance or submission and I emailed the general UIWSOM email about confirming my spot.

Thanks. And you're still on the SOM waitlist?

Confirmed that UIWSOM will not be eligible for Air Force HPSP this year. I will be withdrawing my recent acceptance off of the waitlist. Good luck to everyone! I am going to stay on the thread to see how things go for you all!

Just wondering if anyone else had concerns about UIWSOM's curriculum? I know on their website that they outline what they will be teaching and covering, however, what about the WAY we're being taught?

I'm asking because during my interview, one of my interviewers told me that I was an outstanding applicant and he cannot morally or ethically stand by and not say anything. He told me if I have other options I should go their and he thinks that this program will fail because of the way they want to teach the curriculum. He had his MD and PhD and says that medical school students just don't have the time it takes to do this type of curriculum where we are learning by being given case studies and then we have to figure out all the rest.

Can I get some opinions? I've been waitlisted at my number 1 choice and deferred acceptance at a very reputable DO school. Do I just wait a year or should I attend UIWSOM? HELP!!

Congratulations! Just curious, if you were accepted off of the waitlist, did you also receive the email about their MBS program a week or two ago?

For what it's worth, there are several schools that utilize this exact same curriculum (UNECOM (DO) and Virginia Tech (MD)) and they are very successful. VA Tech also has a 100% match rate so far in their history. There are also programs that do 100% Case based learning without any lectures and those students also go on to do well. So for them to make the statement that the students don't have time to learn is bogus.

I also don't understand why he would be part of the faculty if he didn't believe in the way things will be going, either.

To answer your other question. If you think deferring and going to the other reputable DO school is best for you, do that. But also understand you'd be giving up a year of attending salary.

Personally, I am very excited to see how UIWSOM does. Even though I have chosen not to attend due to HPSP eligibility, I truly believe it will succeed.

Good luck with your decision. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

Hofstra School of Medicine, UT Dell, and Case Western have similar curriculums as well. Might want to check them out too….
Oh, & I too am interested in HPSP – just found out today that the Air Force will now consider UIWSOM students for eligibility.

That is interesting. Seeing as I just received an email from the enrollment specialist at UIWSOM yesterday that it will not be eligible for HPSP with the Air Force.

Well it is confirmed that UIWSOM will be eligible for HPSP with the Air Force. Actually really upsetting since I withdrew my acceptance yesterday.

It was my recruiter in TN that told me it would be and the school just confirmed also.

is there a c/o 2021 Facebook page?
There are two of them, one is student run and the other is the Official UIWSOM class of 2021!

On another note, if you are still on the waitlist, I would definitely stay on it. I received my offer of acceptance on 4/24 and had my interview on 1/13. Good Luck Everyone!

Haven't scrolled through all the previous pages to see if this was already answered, but does anyone know what clinical rotations sites UIWSOM is planning to have? I've read that they're setting up two residency programs with Laredo Medical Center, but that's all I know.

They have contractual agreements with every hospital system in San Antonio, including the University health system UTSA students rotate at (although very limited spots here).

I withdrew my acceptance from UIWSOM. I hope to see great things out of this school, but I feel what is best for me is at another school. Good luck to everyone!!
