Okay just called UIWSOM admissions for updates on applications. They said that rn they're delayed and won't expect to inform us on a decision until early May

oh this is upsetting -- will they be offering acceptances that late? or just W's and R's...

On my interview day (march) I was told that they're expecting decision release in May, and if I get waitlisted, I would hear back anytime and up to the last couple of days leading to orientation in July since lots of Texas students will be giving up their seats for the other schools on TMDSAS in the coming months. I don't really know how TMDSAS works, so maybe someone can shed more light for me on this. This does suck for me as I have a deadline coming up soon for a school to decide to pay deposit or not, and I would choose UIWSOM over the school.

Yeah I understand how you feel but look at the deposit as an insurance to getting into medical school

I don’t believe you can make a deposit unless accepted.

My friend who goes there told me that last year there was a lot of waitlist movement. I also, heard lots of waitlist movement happens in May since waitlisted people at tmdsas schools get accepted so they decline their offer for incarnate. I'm hoping this is the same case for this year!

They're WL everyone.. When TMDSAS match day arrives in May, they call it "melt," as people take other offers and over 100 spots open up, per last year.. I assume they prioritze the WL and give offers to the first 100.

My apologies... There's some event in late April/early May. Some "day" where people take other offers and UIW opens up like 100+ spots.

April 30 is the day people holding several acceptances are told to drop all but one.
If anyone drops a TMDSAS spot to go OOS, a space is created.

The school sure is taking a while to move that WL! It makes me think they’ve been full since the end of last year. Based on this thread, no As yet for everyone who interviewed this semester.

No I think it’ll be either a rejection or a WL, with only people from the WL getting As. Sounds like their seats are full at the moment from what I’m hearing.

The latest you can get accepted off the waitlist is the start of orientation in July.

Your MCAT and GPA qualified you to go for an interview. After that it's only one factor in selection including your interview day

What’s the other factor after the interview? I was just wondering bc a lot of people seem to be getting off the WL from the 3/28 days but I interviewed in January and not many people from then seem to be off the WL yet.

There's not another factor after the interview. They will discuss everyone after an interview day and take all the parts of their application into consideration to decide on hold, WL, or Acceptance.
