I called earlier in the week and they didn't have any updates and couldn't tell me when I would be reviewed so who knows. (I'm OOS by the way).

Yeah, I feel for the OOS people. There's really no official day, so you just gotta hang in there.

I didn't get anything today. Tomorrow might be something, since I think that will give them like 2 days to call people but who knows.

I contacted admissions office and was told that they will be giving out ~50 more pre-match offers before they close for the holidays.

Hope that means good news for us!

thanks for the info nontradgirl! i wonder how many they gave out on the 8th since someone did mention that they told him/her it was a "small batch" that came out.

well i don't know if this makes anyone feel better or if this is old news to you all, but based on the stats of offers:interviews for students entering Fall 2008 they gave acceptance offers to almost 64% of the interviewees. i personally found this somewhat consoling (getting desperate here 😀) good luck to all of us tomorrow, friday and february 1st!

Haha, thanks. I kinda have this strange hope that they look in here and can some how identify us, but it's not likely. Although, I find it funny that for the TCOM 2012 class webpage:

They have SDN's thread on there for that cycle. Maybe this one will be used for the 2013.

On that note, I was reading through it a while back and it was sad to see that a user named PT2MD didn't make it to TCOM despite the dedication and interest. I'm glad that he/she is doing well now it seems (post doc from the status) so I guess it all worked out.

That's pretty crazy...50 out of 600 interviewees? Sounds pretty good. Thanks for the news and good luck!

That's pretty good...I knew they interviewed a pretty select group of people so it's definitely a big hurdle after that. I hope to hear tomorrow...it'll make these long nights that much better. Good luck marvolush!

Ugh, marvolush, don't you hate this teasing/roller coaster feeling? I just want some solidarity...that's why I feel for the OOS people who have no definitive dates and want it.

yea! i hate this. i want to rip my hair out. i've just been lounging around plucking at my guitar and watching movies now that finals are over. ah the restlessness. we still have til the end of the business day today.

yea and i definitely feel for the OOSers. i'm sure the days drag on much more for them.

Yeah, it must be a little lonely with the break starting. We're on the quarter system, so our first exam in anatomy is tomorrow 😱

i just got an acoustic guitar about 1-2 weeks ago since i found a really good deal. i've only played clarinet and piano in the past. i'm trying to learn from youtube videos but i'm thinking of taking private lessons next month. who knows, maybe if medical school doesn't work out i can be the next indie pop artist 😎 ....just kidding! good luck on your test tomorrow!

Haha, nice. I planned on getting lessons during the summer. If TCOM gets generous, that'll only give me about a month to do things from when I graduate from here.

I had a feeling that it would be tomorrow, because last year they gave out a batch the friday before the holidays. I'm getting nervous. Now only if I had a guitar too...

Yeahhhh, join the guitar club. I recently restrung mine 3 months ago, but decided to leave it with the parents since my dad also plays. I definitely want to pick it up seriously this time around.

Hmm, no wonder people thought it would also be on that day. I thought TCOM would be crazy to force them to come back after the weekend just for one more day of work.

Then again, we technically have class until the 22nd as well, so maybe it's not so crazy.

hmmmm well i just looked back on that 2007 thread and it shows that people got pre-matches dec. 20-21st, which was a thursday and friday. and on their website it says they plan on closing for winterbreak 12/22-1/2. does TCOM plan on making 50 phone calls all tomorrow or did none of us happen to receive any news for this particular day? i'm just going to go with them making 50 phone calls tomorrow 😀

Yeah, maybe if they have nothing going on, I can see them pushing out 50 calls in one day. People have said the status changed before the call but also the status changed much later after the call (the first wave of pre-match). This might be a special case where they notify online but don't call. I hope someone hears something and posts so we can know for sure.

Yeah thats what I meant, the 2 days right before they closed for winter break. Last year that was 12/20 and 12/21.

The only peep Ive found who have been admited with semi-low mcat scores were admitted in the 90's. I searched profiles in on md apps a while ago. . . I think the scores were low to mid 20's.

TCOM seems to be raising their standards - I'm hoping to get an interview but I dunnoo ... I've been complete since July 21st. I have DO letter being sent by the end of the week.

Well, you have to take into account that the user population on MDapps is very skewed and mid to low MCATs are generally just for a statistical prop for med schools. Ok, I'll believe that Tech, UTHSCA and other TX schools took someone with a 22 MCAT, but that's so far into the extremes that it is undependable.

TCOM is a lot like the other TX schools and many students are instate, which is strange because you would think that a lower applicant pool would result in a lower matriculation average, but I think like any school, they want to improve that and as a result, they can change their stats very quickly with a smaller pool.

Well, I meant that such a small percentage of applicants use SDN, so 1 out of 50 kinda makes sense if you think of it that way.

Like I said a few weeks earlier, it wouldn't be so bad to wait until the the match. Waiting sucks for sure, but getting the answer in the end is what matters.
