UPENN c/o 2022 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Accepted OOS too! Got the call this morning, missed it, got another call around noon, missed it, and then finally got the official news this afternoon. Loved UPenn... but the price tag is so steep, definitely have to weigh my options.

Hi all! First post here after yearrrrsss of quietly stalking. Congrats to everyone who has already been accepted, I've been cheering for ya! I just got my interview invite today too and cannot be more shocked/thrilled. Looking forward to meeting fellow feb 9th interviewees!

did any of yall with the 26th interview date get any more info about what group you'll be in?

Hey there! At least for the 19th, we didn't find out what groups we were in until we got there.

We aren’t allowed to bring a parent to the info sessions and tour, correct?

What email address sent every one their interview? I am scared that it is in my spam folder or something

Received my acceptance by phone this morning!!! So excited as Penn is my top choice. I am giving up spots to interviews at Minnesota, Michigan, and Illinois so I hope that helps someone!!

I got an email this morning informing me I was put on hold. Penn is my top choice, so it's hard not to be discouraged. I called Rob in admissions and he was very nice in explaining next steps. Here is to hoping (REALLY hoping) I still have a shot. And, congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!
Did they say if invites are still going out I still haven’t heard anything

Also, have you interviewed yet or were you put on hold without an interview?

Hi! I was also put on hold. if you don't mind, could you please explain what rob said the next steps were and the likelihood of getting an acceptance following the hold!

Just out of curiosity... does anyone know if anyone has been rejected after an interview or are applicants either accepted/on hold/alternate.

Applicants can be denied after interview (at least we were told that at the interview day)

Just received my rejection email from UPenn, oh well luckily I still have an acceptance from Georgia. Best of luck to everyone!

KPizz92,

Sorry to hear that 🙁 but congrats on Georgia! Did you interview at Penn? Or are they sending rejections now?

Kpizz92, you got into a school that only takes a handful of OOS students, and you were one of them! That is an amazing accomplishment!:highfive:

Just goes to show that each school's process is looking for something different... Hopefully we all end up at the schools that best fit us.

Thank you!! It means a lot! Yeah, I was shocked when I found out from Georgia, I thought there was no way I was going to get an OOS seat.

Never doubt yourselves, we all have more to offer than you think!

Has anyone else not heard back about an interview but has also not been rejected? It seems like they sent out rejection emails today so now I’m just confused lol

I emailed the school about two weeks ago asking for a status update. My application was still in review and I haven't received anything from them since. No rejection email and no interview invitation either.

I still haven't gotten a rejection or interview invite yet either ... I'm kind of confused as to what exactly that means?

I got my rejection email yesterday too. The application evaluation for Penn isn't until after April 30th, any tips on what my next steps should be? My GREs were average should I retake them? I know getting more experience is always helpful but I have a full time job - trying to find a clinic to work/volunteer at for only the weekends is pretty tough. Also for those that got rejected, will you ask the same people that did your LORs this cycle to do your LORs again for the next cycle? I plan to re apply for the next cycle in May. Thanks and congrats to those that got accepted!!! I hope I get in next cycle!!!

I understand the struggle of working full time and taking night class while also trying to bolster your vet school application - I have been doing this for a while. Here's my two cents:

(1) Take a science elective class at a community college or local university, bonus points if it's related to your interest in veterinary medicine - for example: Immunology, Comparative Animal Physiology, or Animal Nutrition - just to name a few. I think Purdue and NC State offer online animal nutrition courses as well, if you really can't afford the time away from work. Oh, and plan to get a LOR from that professor.

(2) If you can afford the time and money, apply for Penn's Summer VETS Program. It's a one-week thing and gets you hands on and face-to-face time with Penn faculty and staff.

Hope any of that helps. Good luck, your hard work will pay off.

Hey everyone!

I received an interview invitation for 2/9 and am so excited. Does anyone know if the interviews were prioritized? As in the earlier the interview the more competitive your application was? And did everyone hear back in about a week or so? I'm super anxious!

congrats on the interview! i'm not sure about how the application process happens, but consider it an amazing accomplishment for receiving the interview invite.

Here is a response I liked from earlier in the thread:

I'd take this with a grain of salt, because people who are interviewed the first day do get rejected and people who interview the last day do get accepted. If you get an interview, they are interested; go, be a good person and know what you wrote in your personal statement and be able to answer questions about it.

Thank you so much! And best of luck to those who have still not heard. The way I interpreted the initial email back in November was that interview invitations would be sent throughout February, so don't lose hope yet!

Hey! Congrats on the interview!!! I don't think they are prioritized necessarily so like everyone else said, go be great and your chances are as good as anyone else's! I did hear back within the few days after my interview but I'm not sure if that's the same for everyone.

A friend of mine from undergrad was called the day prior to the last interview day and asked if she'd like to come in for an interview the following day, as someone cancelled their interview. She eagerly accepted the invite, and was accepted a few days later. She graduated last year and is now working as a vet. So, even the person who is the very last one to be offered an interview invite, can be accepted and do very well.

hoping this happens for me! that was inspiring!

Does anyone know when the last interview is?

if interviewer is stationed at New Bolton - 610

Quick question, are the interviews an hour or 30 minutes or it varies? Getting excited for tomorrow
