Hi all,

Been following this forum for some time now, would like to thank everyone for the help this forum has given me during this application cycle. This is my first time posting and I was looking for other students' insights into my situation:

I am now holding a spot at UTSW and Northwestern. I am only receiving loans from each school, along with some financial help from my parents, and am a Texas resident so UTSW would be much cheaper. Both schools seem comparable in terms of quality and reputation. I missed UTSW's revisit since I was accepted late, but Northwestern's revisit was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it.

Basically, from what I gather Northwestern seems like a lot of fun, and I don't have much to go off of in that area for UTSW. However, UTSW would be much more affordable and closer to home. It seems like either school would give me plenty of opportunities so that is not a huge concern. How would you guys compare the two, and how would you justify paying that much more for medical school for a school that seems "more fun" (again I missed UTSW's revisit, so if some UTSW students can refute that, that would be great).

Thanks.

A physician once told me: get the best and but affordable medical education you can get. I would take advantage of the below-average tuition fee that UTSW offers. But then the final choice is yours.

Thanks, Duotone. I seem to be getting the same advice from every physician I talk to haha. I think UTSW may be the way to go.

This is actually the exact same decision that I just had to make. I even had a little financial aid from Northwestern. I really liked both schools for many reasons. But every physician I talked to, even Northwestern alumni, said to go to UTSW. I also was a little nervous about being a new curriculum guinea pig at Northwestern. That being said, I think it is a great school and Chicago is awesome. But I chose UTSW.
