Werewolves of Ireland - Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oi'm bothered by grebes an' mpm's posts earlier on dis page. grebes's response ter meats read loike it wus tryin' a wee too 'ard, an' canny quite put me finger on waaat it wus aboyt mpm, jus felt a bit manky.

I love these

Grebes seemed very defensive, too quickly.
MPM randomly defended a Barks mayor vote - Mel commented on this too which just confuses me more on how I should lean her post

i don't think i was trying too hard. just responding to being called out for sheeping.

also, can't tell if already post restricted, or just speaking like a leprechaun for the lulz (which would be fitting based on your height, i hear 😛 )

either way, not sure if i love it or hate it
Ter me it seemed loike a wee much for a "callout" dat 'appened before we even 'ad roles. jist 'oy oi read it.

are yer makin' craic av de way oi blather, lassy?

Why does me commenting on it change how you view it?

false, both MPM's comment and me spotlighting it happened after roles came out.

"Let @Lawper lead us against this great evil," cried the warriors from Connacht.
"Nay, @StayingPositive2017 has the experience we need" shouted those from Munster.
@Melchizedek of Ulster yelled, "I am brave, let me battle these beasts!"
The warriors of Leinster looked to @Stagg737, who said "I am ready to stand with you all in the face of these terrors."

As each region extolled the virtues of their kin atop the Lia Faíl, the Stone of Destiny, the Tuatha Dé Danann looked down at the brave souls below and were pleased. They agreed to give blessings in the form of great treasures to all four of the champions, so that they might gain an advantage against the werewolves.

To @Stagg737 of Leinster goes the Cross of St. Brigid
To @Melchizedek of Ulster goes the Salmon of Knowledge
To @Lawper of Connacht goes the Breastplate of St. Patrick
To @StayingPositive2017 of Munster goes a pair of Potatoes

The light dawns on Day Two at 10am tomorrow, or earlier if all actions are in.

Excuse you, I'm disappointed that I did not receive the fish...

I didn’t like this either. Why only ask vmh. Just felt off
I was just looking at that group along with their choice and saw she didn’t vote but I thought I remembered reading her posts it was honestly just an observation.

So clearly I got potatoes. I can eat them, sell them hoard them, or give them away. Thoughts?
Potatoes can be sold for cash, right? Maybe they are worth more later in the game though if hoarding is an option... will Pippy tell you how much they are worth? Is there a time limit for how long they are good?

Go read the intro posts again

I mean I read them. I know you can sell them for cash. I guess I was just wondering if there was some advantage to keeping them.

as opposed to them just sitting there as placeholders for gold.

what does eating them do?

the main benefit I can see from selling potatoes is getting to the money amount to buy an invisibility cloak faster, since it seems like the cloak protects from night actions based on the description

but I think you'd also have to leave Munster and I'm not sure if you want to do that immediately

I'm impressed that there are only like five dudes playing this game and we elected three of them to be mayors

Hey now, Mel is an axolotl and I'm pure sodium chloride. I believe that makes things pretty equal. Though the axolotls may be over-represented in this system.

I don't know how to feel about this...ure mash-up...

The answer should be obvious. You hold on to the potatoes for now until the famine comes. Then, as we all come crawling to you, starving, you eat one of them and laugh in our faces about how you hold the last potato and sell it at an exorbitant price. Then you take a ship to England where there is no potato famine with your new-found wealth and laugh as we all starve in your wake.

So much for mechanics. Stagg already solved the whole game

There is also the mysterious third potato option - keep it in your bottom kitchen cabinet and forget about it until there's an awful smell and you find liquefied potato in there. Not that I have personal experience with this or anything.

If you keep them long enough they will grow eyes :cyclops::peeking:

I was horrified at the grocery store last week because they had those bags of russets on sale and a ton of them had already sprouted. How old were these potatoes? They probably all could have had bar and bat mitzvahs at that point

Sorry little late to the potato party, my obvious thought is what Paws already said that maybe the goal is to get gold the fastest and you can do that by selling the potatoes.

But eating one and selling one is probably what I’d do just so I could have the best of both worlds.
(Shameless Hannah Montana reference)

Btw, since I had to go back to page 1...

I'm going to take this opportunity to heavily plug having a listen to the Irish reel that is linked in the opening post. It's probably my favorite trad song and right now I have it on repeat as I tipsily count this nonsense I created lol

For those of you who prefer the YouTube version of these things (crummier sound quality but much better late 90s Irish fashion on pretty ladies, including glitter eyeshadow), here you go

I don't usually listen to music other people tell me to listen to, but I promise it is doesn't suck as a game soundtrack lol

A small aside, but I'll be attending a funeral tomorrow morning, so expect my check ins on thread to be later in the afternoon

Scotland reference??!?!? 😱😱😱

This is almost as bad as @vetmedhead 's absurd comment that all sheep belong to Wales :arghh:
I sorta read the "sheep are for the Welsh" as a dig that the Welsh.... well, you know what they say the Welsh do with the sheep :panda:

I'm pretty sure the Scots, Welsh, and Irish all maintain that it's not them but the other ones that love their sheep too much. The English I guess are too refined to be accused of this, I dunno.

so as I already said, expect less participation from me

I am giving up on liking all the posts I would usually like, I find if I don't I can skim a page in twice the speed, so that will be different coming from me this game, sorry

already got MPM, AM, Mel, WZ, VMH, grebes, barks on my watchlist
