Did you just ask how people would know drugs are bad? Hahahaha

But idk maybe they didn't or maybe only WZ knew. There were only two village PRs so... did you know?
I mean in this game 😛

No, since my role allowed me to destroy the drugs OR take the drugs myself OR redistribute them, I assumed the drugs themselves were neutral

I didn't even know they were bad (since I took the drugs). I knew addiction levels existed, I didn't know what they meant.

And I would have had to out myself even earlier to get that information to anyone else.

I wish we could post exactly what everyone told us about their drug results - because I'm sorta dumb and didn't see the huge benefit, they seemed pretty cryptic which is why I didn't buy into them being good.

I still took the weed, because to me it wasn't obvious to me until too late that they were bad news, and let's face it, I have impulses!!

Basically I'm saying (politely) that I think this was kind of unwinnable for villagers since there was no possible knowledge of the main mechanic that led to the loss.
:eyebrow: You had 2 dead wolves by day 3, and the third one was on everyone's radar. AND YOU UNLYNCHED LAWPY SO YOU GOT LYNCHED INSTEAD. So no, I don't think you get to blame the mods for this. 😛

I will say @Lawper, you had me wanting to give you the benefit of the doubt for a long time. Like you were softly pinging sketchy, but I was like…nah, couldn’t be. Right?
I KNOW, I'm pissed. I will never ever ever ever ever again be talked into the whole "a wolf would never be such an absentee" crap.

Haha I'm pretty sure everyone did post exactly what they got already, multiple times in some cases.

We also didnt know how many times you had to take drugs to get addicted so it was more neutral than it sounds. We found out eventually but that was way later

Ok...so how would villagers who got PR abilities know that drugs were bad?

Most of the drugs weren't exactly nice things. Rehab isn't exactly fun and games and there is a reason to go. I tried to include some hints in the write-ups as well with the messages about residents getting addicted and the mayor trying to declare a crisis.

...did villagers get any indication they were addicted? Or was that mechanic invisible?

It was invisible. Addiction is insidious. Overdose did give an indication. I probably should have had second use result in death, but that is hindsight. Dubz and I also didn't expect y'all to go quite so whole hog into using.

There was a lot of player choice to this due to the addiction aspect. First time is easy. Consequences come later.

If you have the ability to destroy them, why did the mods give the ability?

The wolves could give the drugs, but they didn't know if people took them.

Also, addiction = death. In a more normal game, folks would have been winnowed out faster.

Uh are you kidding me right now?

Sorry for playing well, but there was a fundamental secret mechanic that altered the whole structure of the game and was only visible to wolves. Tell me how that is winnable for village?

Like I told you earlier, I guess as a people doc I'm incapable of trusting drugs and drug induced visions.

Well, unless I'm doing the drugs myself. But I still don't trust the visions!!

I mean that is nice for IRL, but these games are often flip-flopped on real life (e.g. star Wars game where the wolves were Luke, Han, Leia, etc) so it's hard not to go off of actual evidence and just on how you feel about things in reality 😉

Like taking candy from strangers....village just ate those drugs like candy

I mean, its a game so I just did it because obviously I was vanilla and had no other way of getting info. The LSD I did in this game was the first drug I've ever taken in my life so I don't really think personal life has much impact on game play 😛

First illegal drug, most likely. 😉

I don't think it's unwinnable for the villagers, if you had a mechanic that somehow made it a big more difficult to get people addicted or cured of addiction, to somehow balance things.

Maybe it wasn't the best balanced, hard for me to say. I think we figured out enough in dead chat that maybe if this was a larger game there would be more time for villagers to get wise.

Despite that, I really liked the concept of the game design and I had fun. DESPITE being lynched before my time (IMHO, nevermind I always think that). This was the closest I ever followed a game after death. I think all that says a lot, and I'm less salty about wolf wins when I'm already dead, so don't ask me, I guess.

This is why I trust nothing and flip flop. The tinfoil hat protects me from my enemies.

Village earned those two dead wolves (not me, but everyone else lol). Just because a game goes down to LyLo does not make it well-balanced.

I bet he was. Number one sign he was wolf was lack of anything useful on thread (sorry Lawpy). His game play was 100% different and in the wolfiest way possible - ghosting, no original thought, difference in tone.
:eyebrow: then why weren't you trying to lynch him, dag nab it

Well sure, I mean, I did a drug in a bag I found on the street that I couldn't even tell what it was

But my suspicion was high anyway. That's all I meant.

I had these concerns. But....too late now?
Modding is often experimental. I don't think this experiment quite worked from a balance perspective, but it was still fun. And I say these things because I like the whole theory behind game design, and always appreciate feedback from players as well. I think it could be tweaked to be more balanced.

Basically I critique with love as someone who has run many an unbalanced game.
