 That was some quick thinking or did you plan that in advance!

Long story short, I had ordered a digital camera online on Black Friday. I got the camera in about a week before the phone call, so it was laying on my bed. The phone call came in, and the camera was right next to it. I had one of those "made-for-TV" smiles, and then decided to snap a cheesy photo to remember that day - snowing in Houston and BCM calling.

Has anyone who interviewed on 12/12 found out anything acceptance wise?

For those that receive acceptances, make sure you post your interview date! Good luck to all!!!

Called Baylor today and they are going to only interview until the last week of Feb. They were going to interview until the 1st week of March but changed their minds. They will be doing the last invites for interviews the 1st week of Feb. Hope we all get an invite! CROSS YOUR FINGERS! I would LOVE to go to BAYLOR!

wow I'm surprised they aren't interviewing longer considering the Ike et al. Was it like this last yr?

Hmm, I'd love to visit Baylor (and interview) and get away from all the slippery ice! My butt is still bruised

- interviews usually go through the end of feb so this year is nothing different
- we only cancelled 1 interview date due to Ike. Applicants were just rescheduled on different days so an additional interview day is not necessary.

good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! hang in there! it's so so worth it!

So when do you guys think calls are gonna go out again? 🙂

Hey guys, I'm interviewing tomorrow and am about to check out the interview thread but was wondering if there's anything I should really know about Baylor interviews. Are they pretty similar in style to the other TX interviews?

Did all of the people here who got accepted feel like they did really well in their interviews? Sigh, I can't help but keep running through my head how I could've answered some of my questions differently...Ahh, the wait is horrible!

Me too! At the time, I thought my interview went great. Now, I can only remember all the dumb things I said. Hopefully our interviewers are less crtical of our answers than we are!

I felt like my interviews went pretty average. Not the best, not the worst . I wouldn't overthink your interview performance, honestly.

Good luck, guys.

Does anyone know the procedure as to which day they call on? Is it usually a Friday or what?

I'm done waiting for prematch stuff so I have to start worrying about Baylor or my mind's going to go idle haha

Haha, as far as I know, there is no procedure. It can happen anyday of the week, anytime of the day.

HiDoc88 is right... they've called people on practically every day of the week. On top of that, some phone calls have gone out in the morning and others in the evening.

So I've been hiding out on here since my interview, getting more depressed with every set of calls that went out...but I'm going to stay optimistic for everybody out there who's still waiting to hear from BCM or the Big Cool Medical school as my friend likes to call it...I know he's lame, but he's proud of it and that's what I like about him. So everybody keep your heads up, oh if anyone knows the name of the seafood place right outside of Houston (I think in Baytown) that is owned by Hispanic people and has the best seafood I've ever tasted (I know I've probably just described a whole bunch of places) could ya'll please let me know the name, and for you guys who haven't been there, put it on your to do list...trust me.

Why isn't their a hungry or a yummy avatar?...I feel like I've been personally discriminated against, lol.

This wait is unbearable, it's almost as bad as waiting for my MCAT score. Why won't they call!?!? Has ANYONE from 12/12 heard yet?

On the same boat as you...interviewed 12/12

Has it even been a month for you yet? Oct. here, it's been more than 100 days for me. Don't panic.

Everyone, please keep in mind that the bulk of BCM acceptances don't go out for a while. I think "peak time" is March. I really know it's frustrating to hear this over and over again, but try not to think about it. Good things come when you least expect them... and I can personally vouch for that: http://rk.md/2008/bcm-dream

Awesome story. Must've been a great feeling. . . I'm hoping for something similar next year. Long live the BCM dream!

"Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee"

That has been my status for two months. Does this mean rejection or a pre-interview hold? Will they tell me if I call them? (I'm OOS btw)

It DEFINITELY doesn't mean rejection so don't sweat it!

I think we decided that means they've reviewed your app and placed you on a ranked list and they draw from the top of the list until they fill the interview spots. I haven't heard of anyone getting any information about their relative rank on the list however, so a call probably won't help too much. (although I add a caveat: when I called to work out a LOR problem during July or August the secretary said, unprovoked, that my file was ranked an 'H'. when I asked what that meant she said it was a really good thing) I think they do the same thing for interviewed applicants and accept so many from the list each time.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?) BCM doesn't seem to reject anyone until late in the cycle. So, it seems like the best/only thing to do for the most part is wait! 🙂 Good Luck!

Baylor doesn't really do pre-interview hold. They score all of the applicants based on everything in the file, and come up with an overall score. Then all of the reviewed applicants get placed on a running list; every so often, they'll take the top 50 (or whatever number) of people off that list and invite them for the next interview session. So everyone is constantly in contention for an interview until all of the slots have been given; of course, if you're very low on that list, that's tantamount to a silent rejection, but it's possible you were just no. 51 (or whatever) on the list last time and you'll get an invite in the next batch 🙂. There's just no way of knowing where you are on that list.

Any Baylor students know the inside news on why calls haven't gone out in soooo many weeks?

Interview next Friday! South comes to Texas ; )

Obviously I'm not on the inside, but I'd guess because they haven't had interviews in a while either. This doesn't mean they don't like you (you could be at the top of the list for all you know 🙂) but they just don't see any reason to accept more people without any new interviewees to consider yet.

Berk, YOU in particular, I'm sure are getting in 🙂 You DID remember to put your post count on your AMCAS, right? How could they turn down someone with such great numbers? 😀

Apparently someone got accepted last week. This is the post from the acceptance thread. In case you're wondering, I guess they still are making some acceptances.

emewe (IS I:11/21, A:1/16)

This wait is killing me. I interviewed 11/7 and still haven't heard anything...

hey everyone,

when I saw this thread pop up I realised that I never posted here when I got the call.

Hang in there! I was super neurotic and having all kinds of crazy Baylor dreams ever since the day I interviewed, so hopefully your wait will be over and you will all get a call from Baylor soon :luck:

Congrats, emewe.

So I guess phone calls go next week, then? :scared:

Maybe... the email we got back in November made it sound like they might send out calls EVERY week, but then some weeks they might just choose not to make any.

Really, I know SDNers love to be neurotic about things, but there's no real good pattern to look at to figure out when you should be "on your guard" for Baylor. So just forget about it, watch Lost (or whatever your favorite show is 😛), and have fun! 🙂

So true, I got my "ranked" email and literally jumped every time my phone rang, but it wasn't until I had given up on hearing anytime soon that I finally got the call 😀

I just called Admissions since I was becoming impatient. My status page has said "Your application is complete and has been reviewed by the committee.
We will let you know something as soon as we are able" for the past 3 months at least. They said that they are releasing the last interview dates tomorrow or Friday. Good luck everyone!

Got an invite today after being complete for more than 3 months. In the email it says that February 20th will be the last interview date.

Baylor is cool and all. but a) they obviously think i am at the lower end of applicants invited for an interview. b) im sick and tired of being sick and tired of interviewing. c) its my final semester and id prefer to get wasted.

so im happily declining and hope one of you hopefuls gets my spot. good luck! :luck:
