So I just called the admissions office to ask when decisions will be sent out. All they said was that decisions will be sent out next week and that we can expect to hear anytime after that. I don't know if that means they're not sending them until next week (i.e. not tomorrow) or if that means we can expect to hear next week. I asked them to clarify this and all she said was, "next week!" I guess we're going to have to wait.

For those of you who work there or have special connections, do some detective work! Be on the look-out for the truck or ask someone who would know! PLEASE!

anyone waiting for NYU as well ? I think I will hear from NYU before Columbia next week.
 
The admissions office tells me they are probably going to start mailing on Tuesday. Because of the whole non-rolling thing, the office is seriously busy when it comes time to finalize the list and send everything out. I know it's impossible to be patient (I remember), so I won't ask you to be. But hey, good luck everyone. This place is the best.

Thanks for the update. Many of us are anxious and its good to know not to spend the weekend thinking if Monday will be the day...

well, it might not actually be 3 days if acceptances don't go out this afternoon as we had initially expected. if they go out on tuesday, it might be more like 7 days!

I am so tempted to call but I don't want to annoy them. I sincerely hope I get something (acceptance? please? 😀) before I leave the country next Friday!!!!! :xf:

JUST CALL! I did yesterday. It's not like they ask for your name or anything. They won't even know who you are. Plus, its completely legitimate to want to know when acceptances are being mailed out. Post if you do!

If they're priority mailed on Tuesday, New Yorkers should hear on Thursday or Friday, right? The rest of us will probably have to wait until Friday or Saturday.

Just called. Decisions will be mailed out "next week." 🙁

If I don't get something in the mail by Thursday I'll probably call and explain that I'm going out of the country - maybe I can convince them to tell me over the phone. 😉

Depends on where you're located. As long as the acceptances are picked up earlier on Tuesday, New Yorkers should get them beginning Wednesday. The rest of the Northern Atlantic region should get them beginning Thursday. I'd think that nearly all of the acceptances will have arrived by Saturday.

I live in Richmond, VA, and all the correspondence I've received this cycle from NYC has arrived two days after the postmark. I'm going to circle Thursday on my calendar!!!!

That's on a different timetable than the MD only decisions though, right?
 
well at least next week we all will have somewhat a bit of finality on our future 🙂

hard to plan for the future when you have no clue what part of the country you will live in for the next four years of your life.

Seems like we should be counting down to 3/3 at the earliest since that's when the med student said they were loading the trucks?

ok well since we no longer know when the letters will be sent for sure, I am going to stop the countdown now. Don't want to mislead people.

Weill Cornell just surprised everyone and sent out acceptances yesterday, even though they weren't supposed to hear back until "mid-march". Maybe Columbia will surprise as well.
 
Wait why are you guys saying NYU and Cornell sent stuff out just now? I heard back from both schools in December...

i heard from Cornell in December too, but the majority of the acceptances went out yesterday.

They've already made a decision on our applications. Now we just have to wait and see!
 
I just read the first couple pages of this thread. Interesting who's still posting, and I wonder who's out there lurking...

Anyway, what's everyone doing to distract themselves?
I had another birthday party this weekend, and I am procrastinating on some work I brought home. Maybe I'll work on a tattoo design for my coworker...
 
Watching the new Heroes episode, lol...then studying for an exam with some music blasting (love pandora).

I kind of think I should block SDN on my computer for a few days....hoping I don't drive myself insane, lol.

I've been really ill since Thursday evening so I haven't had much of a chance to worry about Columbia since then - I am still thinking about it, but it's not on my mind nearly as much as it was last week.

I also started vocal rehearsals for a show on Saturday so that's keeping me distracted as well.

Well I had to work for a few hours this weekend, so that helped. Other than that, random stuff. Reading. Watching TV. Wasting time online. Re-decorating/weeding out furniture and things that I'm not going to want to bother packing up when I move out in May. It feels weird to be thinking about moving out already but I want it to go smoothly and with little stress.

Ah, and I also need to figure out what my boyfriend and I are giving each other for our second anniversary. 😀 That should be fun.

eta: I finally made an avatar! Meet my bird, Chu. That's her snuggling near my armpit.

Feel better, Chad! Singing while sick = no fun. Is that show why you're going out of the country? (some ambiguity here: you started rehearsals on Saturday or the show is on Saturday? 😉 )

I know what you mean. My lease is up in May, but I was hoping to stay through part of June at least, so I have to figure out what to do.

Happy second anniversary! I gave my s.o. an iPod Touch (which I got engraved) and skull candy headphones for his birthday. I'm so proud of myself. I normally suck at gift-giving.

I was debating extending my lease, and I've already checked that they'll let me, but I want to travel mid-May. So I either need to be packed and out by then, or I need to extend my lease through June and pack after I travel.

An iPod touch is a great gift idea and I considered it but we both already have smart phones so it'd be a bit excessive. =/ We do want to upgrade our phones, but there's nothing either of us really want yet. Last year I got him a leatherman and he got me a scent locket that I really wanted. Hm. I'll think of something eventually!
