haha yeah i have deans list and like one other thing.. ive heard stories about these fabulous premeds with their massive awards for being the coolest premed on the planet and saving african babies everyday

Yup...I haven't heard back either and I'm getting anxious. Maybe I'll just get a silent reject like my friend last year....lol....she warned me not to apply but I'm stubborn.

did you guys fill out info on "other" undergraduate institutions if you studied abroad or took a summer class at a different place?
 
for the extracurricular activities question, did u guys just list the activities or did u also include your role/position in them and years? thanks!
 
I'm so frustrated with this secondary.. the questions are so vague..If someone could address some of those issues brought up earlier...that'd be awesome!

1) Collegiate Extracurriculars: Includes PAID and NONPAID activities done DURING the four years of college.

2) How many hrs per week was work recompensed during the college year simply refers to ANY activities done in college that you were paid for. This includes the paid research position that may have been listed above. Am I correct?

3) When they say work, including summer employment, it OBVIOUSLY means PAID positions which you held. Given the vagueness of the questions above, I have a feeling that most of us will relist activities from above for this question...right?

EDIT: I just noticed that the question about the hours which you were recompensed... it is only limited to 200 characters in WRITING format... Do they want the sum of hours we were? Or what... ARGH

Here's what I got from this thread...

List out your activities. If you can include years and descript, then go for it. But most people won't be able to fit it in. Secondly, the adcoms have the AMCAS to refer to.
 
hey, for the east asians out there, r u guys planning to put 'asian-pacific islander' or 'southeast asia'? not sure where koreans fit.

I never knew koreans were pacific islanders? where's your island?
 
right but southeast asia refers to thailand/vietnam/phillipines.. so i figured it means asian or/and pacific-islander....

well althouh columbia never responded to my question, i did get an update status email today:

Dear Applicant,

This email is to inform you that your application for admission is incomplete and
will be evaluated by the Committee on Admissions when we receive your letters of
recommendation.

You mean you haven't heard anything at all? like if they received your application? or if you got an interview. If its the latter... I think you have to give it more time.

i had my letters sent 7/14 and submitted 7/21.... i still havent received any notice about my letters being received or my app being complete... i called last week and they said they were still inputing in information and that i should receive an email this week.. hope that helps 🙂

Did you guys just send 3 letters or did you add in more? I'm sending via interfolio so it goes as a packet... what did you guys do?
 
So I have a premed committee letter coming in and that is all. The way it works is... I have 3 LORs along with a letter from the committee supporting my application. If that is the case, should I write "Packet" of the signer of my committee letter?

I've read page 1 and 2 over and over again. There not really a definitive answer. Just want to double check before hitting submit!!!

How are you guys checking the status of your application? I submitted a long time ago and it tells me that when I log into my secondary. Where will it say that I'm complete?

This set wasn't great, because it's 85 degrees in my apartment, so my white chocolate came out of temper in the mold. I hate working with chocolate in this heat... 🙁 😡

Well, you guys interview in the fall/winter, so it won't be a problem.

I uploaded a document. I just used Microsoft Office Word 2007, but make sure to save it in a .doc format (and not the .docx format or they can't open it unless they also have the 2007 version).

I don't understand why I'm still not complete. The columbia secondary is the first one I submitted and I'm complete everywhere else already. Anyone else have this problem? Should I call?

Under other undergraduate institutions attended do we list community colleges we attended during high school and if not what overall GPA do I use since AMCAS factors in high school classes at community colleges.

Do we also include study abroad institutions under other undergraduate institutions?

Sorry guys -- didn't feel like going back through all of the pages of this thread:

What was the consensus regarding the question:

"Years of coursework you have completed, or will complete before September 2008*"

Was this a typo? Should it be 2009?
 
they actually replied to my email about that and said:

In response to your concerns below, do not worry about the question you
state below with regards to the years of college you have completed. We
are in the process of fixing this error and will note the correct info
on your application.

Thank you 😀. I think Columbia should be able to figure out how many years I will have completed before entering. I mean, it's not rocket science.

i used word 2007 but saved it as a .doc file... worked for me!

Are people attaching an additional document to their application? If so, what are you guys writing? I'm sure the adcoms don't want recycled information that's present elsewhere in the application... so what to write? I feel bad leaving it blank...

Hey all, sorry if this was already covered in the thread, but I'm a bit confused about the question that asks us to discuss the reasons why "education has been interrupted".

Does this apply to people who took time off between medical school and undergraduate, or only people who took some sort of break during undergraduate?

Any clarification would be appreciated.
 
i would bet that its people who took a break during undergrad but would write if i were taking yrs off too
