Yea, did anybody get a waitlist letter that didn't say "highly ranked"?

It seems like the 3 options are "acceptance" "highly ranked waitlist" and "rejection"?

My letter says "very highly ranked"

Nothing for me still and I am two hours from NYC. At this point I am calling it quits and assuming I got rejected. 🙁

I don't think they mailed good news before bad news.

So, no news is no news. Maybe your stuff was mailed on Thursday. You'll probably get something tomorrow!

Just got in!!!!!! Letter dated March 3rd, arrived in Bay Area today. To those still waiting for a response there's still hope.

Has anyone from the southeast gotten notification yet? I didn't have anything today...

I just wanted to let you all know something that my student tour guide told us on my interview day that maybe some other tour guides didn't mention. He said that ~50% of each class comes in off of the wait list. He said that it is very possible to get off of the wait list but that "it's not going to happen by itself." He recommended writing and even calling to say that Columbia is your NUMBER ONE choice and that you will definitely attend if accepted. So if Columbia is really where you want to be, let them know!!!

Are these letters coming to home addresses? School addresses? or a mixture?

Waitlist in NYC (preferred address). 🙁 I'm relieved I get a chance to keep trying, but I really wished this process were over!

I remember reading on last year's thread that everyone's letter says very highly ranked.

Who should we call to express our undying interest? Cause the administrators in the office don't seem like they'd be too interested...

I'm living abroad and mail takes usually two weeks extra to get here - I tried emailing the admissions office but have gotten no response...I guess 2 extra weeks wont kill me after waiting so long

Has anyone had any luck getting notified by email/phone if they are living abroad?

Accepted! Ran to the post office after work and made it just as they were closing the package window (the packet is too big for a PO Box).

I'm in Southern CT

Nothing in the mail yet today, I live in Washington DC. I can only assume this means reject/waitlist, as it sounds like others from farther away have been accepted.

Oh well, nothing I wasn't expecting!

called my parents, and no news in the south west...

No news here in the South West either...waiting for my waitlist/reject letter.

No news here either. I hate all this waiting, but I guess I'm gonna go drink and forget about it until tomorrow.

I'm also in Utah and haven't received anything. I'm just bracing for a waitlist

I got in!!! I am so excited!!! I have pretty low stats (and non-urm) so I am completely shocked right now!!! I go to school, where I received the big envelope, in Mississippi, so letters have made it to the southeast. Woo hoo!!

you're joking, right?

Hey guys,

Just checking in to let you all know that I made it to Nicaragua safely. We're staying in a hotel in Managua (the town we're working in is about an hour away) and we have wi-fi! I'll be able to check back in nightly but I won't be around much.

Still no news. I'm starting to get worried... although some of you in the tri-state area got acceptance packets today. I'm going to hold out hope until tomorrow but if my Mom says there's nothing for me tomorrow, I'm going to assume WL/rejection, which will be incredibly disappointing for me. 🙁

Congrats to everyone who's gotten in so far!

Hi all! Just got an acceptance earlier today, Friday, 3/6, in Boston.

Best of luck to all those still waiting!

🙁 I guess I'm just worried because everyone else on this forum who has received an acceptance has ridiculoussssss numbers!

I'm quite satisfied with my mcat/gpa in general, but in comparison to other columbia-hopefuls, I feel I am on the low end.

Hey keep you chin up. I have very similar numbers. Columbia's average accepted MCAT is 35 in the latest MSAR. That means a good portion are going to be below 35. You may not get an immediate acceptance, but when everyone with phenomenal numbers goes to harvard, hopkins, etc. you can hop off the waitlist. (that's my plan.....i hope)

If your MCAT/GPA was a problem, it seems to me that Columbia would have rejected you pre or post secondary...at times like this it bears repeating: numbers are critical, but they are still only part of the process...

congrats to everyone accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially mightychip. Were gona be classmates!?!?!?!

haha thanks sflo! im super excited about it as well. i can't believe this. congrats to you and everyone else.

Once again, nothing from Columbia in the mail. Hope is officially gone.

Don't lose hope until you have a rejection in your hand. Good luck to all those who haven't gotten any news from Columbia.:luck::luck::luck:

No newsssss......................................🙁

Meh...no news here either. 🙁 Even a rejection / waitlist would feel relieving at this point.

waitlisted...yay!! came in the today's mail, in Georgia.

did anyone get one that doesn't say "very highly ranked" or do they all say that? =P

Waitlisted in New England. Probably won't stay on. Congrats to those who got in! This board was fun to watch, and I'm sad to say goodbye to it.

I'm waitlisted, but I'm not sure if this wording was used for everyone...it says:

"we find that your application falls in the category of being very highly ranked"

Does everyone's letters say this? Or does this mean I'm on a high priority waitlist?

Anyone from the Midwest hear anything yet? I nailed my interview and have pretty solid stats, but no news yet.

They all say it! But it's better than being rejected, right?

I'm just going on a whim, but is there a chance that none of the early interviewees have received news? I looked at a lot of the MDApps profiles, and it seems like early interviews have received no news yet. I interviewed in October, and I'm praying that my theory is right!

I interviewed October 15th and was accepted. I don't think it has anything to do with interview date.

Also interviewed in October. Received waitlist in the southwest today. I'll probably send a LOI now, just to reaffirm the one that was in my thank you letter.

Still no word in today's mail in Washington, DC. I think its safe to say that most us who haven't heard yet are waitlist/reject.

Along that note, has anyone received a rejection yet?

I think I saw a rejection earlier... I do agree that it is waitlist city atm. I don't think anyone was accepted today on the boards.

EDIT: Yeah, someone was rejected.

Anyone made a Columbia waitlist thread yet? So that the insanity can continue!

Wait list for me here in the Washington DC area today dated March 4th.

I'm actually kind of surprised I wasn't rejected! I didn't really click with Columbia and I had a mediocre interview too.

I'll probably withdraw, so good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back and especially to those who are now on the wait list and really want to get in! :luck:

Sorry buddy, late September interview here..No news still isn't bad though right? Good luck

I'm in a smaller town (not even close to any large city), so I'm still trying to hold out hope that the mail service is just crappy. But did anyone have an acceptance letter dated after March 4?

Hm waitlist here too (dated March 4). So I already sent them a long LOI in late January. I only have one honor I've received since then as an update, but that's pretty much it. What should I write (or call?) to reiterate that it's my #1 choice?
