yeah, I called them today also. I was officially complete on Oct. 1st...but the guy told me that I am still under review and to call back again in another 3 weeks if I still dont hear anything. I am taking this as somewhat good news....but does anyone know if they have actually waitlisted anybody pre-interview...or is this never-ending review synonymous w/ a hold?????

When did you receive an email telling you that you were complete?

I got the exact same story ( also complete 10/1). They told me that a decision had not been made and to call in 4-6 weeks.

4health: I got the complete email on Oct. 1st

copperfrog: so this means that they have already reviewed us and passed on, or that we are literally still not completely reviewed?

EDIT: So I called them back to get some clarification. First of all, I was put on hold for quite awhile and could tell they were completely overwhelmed, which explains why they are so backlogged. She assured me that my application has not been "passed-over" or anything but that it is literally still under review.....but not to call back for another SIX weeks if I dont hear anything. They must have a ridiculous number of applicants this year.

Hmmm.. Well, I guess that's a good thing?

Same thing as you guys. I hit my 3 weeks a couple of days ago and called today to check, expecting a post-sec hold. They said "No decision has been made yet", and the confusing part.. "which is a good thing". What could this mean???? 😕

yeah, I guess that it is a good thing....its definitely not bad.....maybe that guy that told you it was a good thing not to have been reviewed yet meant that they have recently swept through and waitlisted some other people and are waiting to review the rest of us (who they might have more interest in?)....complete speculation which I suppose is pointless right now

Edit: Poiu, congrats on that acceptance today!

the person i talked to said to back in 6-8 weeks! is that bad news maybe they rank people

Loyola has no available interviews for about a month or so.

Also, those of you who have received holds after being under review, this is not a bad thing. It seems that you may very well be still under consideration, if not a priority.

Which part of Chicago? Loyola Med isn't even in Chicago.

Technically, no, I guess, but it's still pretty close, and I was just curiousm, overall, if Chicago is relatively dangerous.

Yes, in the same way New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, etc. are "relatively dangerous." There are bad parts, sure, but there are also good parts. It's certainly better than most big cities. In addition, Loyola is in a suburb, nowhere near actual Chicago.

loyola is in a pretty tough neighborhood. i work there in the summers and it has had notoriety for crime, but so does the rest of chicago. be thankful that loyola is not located in inglewood area. 🙂

It's only a 10-15 minute drive from downtown. Pretty close commute imo.

Hey, I got an interview invitation from Loyola this morning. I was complete on 10/1 and when I called last week (3 weeks out) was told I hadn't been reviewed yet.

So I was looking over my loyola app. for no reason what to so ever, I really don't know why I do this.. but I realized that one of my responses ended up being 26 lines by two words. It wasn't on word, but once I put it on their website I didn't realize it changed the format. 😱
Do you think I'll automatically get thrown out? 🙁 Do they really sit there and count lines? 😕
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Do you mind telling us your stats and what not?

I guess I got passed up, my application was complete sometime in mid Sept..sigh.

sure, why not. Non-trad: 3.1, 33P, PhD (3.7)

Does anyone know how long they take to review your file. I called yesterday and they told me I was under reviewed and should hear from them within 24 hours...Still no word and I've been checking my email and phone religiously. How do they send out rejections?

I haven't heard of anyone being told they will hear back within 24 hours. I suppose it won't hurt calling again and asking, but I'd wait a few days.

Anyone know how they offer acceptances? The acceptance thread shows phone, but I was told they send them through standard mail by the admissions office a week or two ago.

I was under the impression the files go to committee once a month and once they go to committee you get an email. I did not get the 10/1 email and still have yet to recieve the november email. If anyone has gotten the november email already, we'd all really appreciate it.

Yo...I called last Thursday to check on my status (I reached the 3 week point three weeks ago), and the person I talked to told me that I was still waiting for review but that it was a "very good thing." Anyone know what she was implying, or was she just speculating without due cause?

Dang, I want an interview!

does it take awhile to be complete at Loyola? I sent my secondary out 6-7 weeks ago and haven't heard back. should I consider calling?

jus call them they are friendly on the phone

Does anyone know the email address for the admissions office?

Does anyone know the email address for the admissions office?

I believe their email is [email protected]. (It's the email address that they send you updates with--but I've never tried emailing them.) I think they prefer that you call with questions, etc. Their phone number is (708) 216-3229; the Admissions Office is open from 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m. CST.

And, I just got a call this morning offering me an acceptance into their class. I'm uber excited as it's my first! Good luck everybody.

congrats bambi!! The first one has to be the greatest feeling ever!

How long did it take for loyola to send you guys a complete email? I don't want to annoy them by calling but man a november complete is really late.

It's been 4 weeks since i got the "file complete" email. I'll probably call this thursday...has anyone called and gotten a verdict out of admissions?

yep, i was put on hold ... if you didn't get a call for an interview, then you are probably on hold 🙁

I called last week (6 weeks since "file complete" email) and was told I'm still under review and I should call back in 4 weeks if I haven't heard anything. They didn't say I was on hold or that it was "a very good thing" like others have been saying.

I'm sort of at a loss about it. I'm disappointed that I haven't heard anything yet grateful that I haven't heard bad news. I'm hopeful that the silence is only because the admissions office is swamped with apps right now.

that message was much better than mine ... i was told to call back in 6-8 weeks and that i had already been reviewed and put on hold. so hopefully it means they are just waiting to go you an interview date... try not to worry, you cant do anything bout it.

Heard the same message. I'll call back around Thanksgiving to see if anything new develops.

I just got the secondary. I submitted the primary application way back in August😀

So after receiving a letter from the office of minority and cultural affairs, i submitted my primary and received the secondary immediately after they waved my secondary fee. How long does it take to hear back for an interview?

I sent my sec. in almost two months ago, I haven't even gotten the complete and under review email yet so you might be in for a long wait.

I was told by the adcom they have more than the usual number of applications.

so i have a question, not necessarily loyola related: this is my second time applying: very high gpa (3.9 a/o, 3.7 bcpm, 3.8 cum), 4 years research, 1 year clinical research, shadowed to orthopedic surgeons, very strong recs (1 from MD 3 from professors/mentors), executive board of 3 culture clubs...and a 28 MCAT...and that has held me back...that one MCAT score has held me back from benifiting from my 4 years of constant motivation and work...it could very well just be my resentment, but does anyone else out there feel like the whole medical school admission process seems to be centerred around the MCAT...it seems that the MCAT, in the end, becomes the sole factor in determining one's eligibility for medical school, no matter what else you have...i put this on the loyola thread because im very interested in loyola and have been following htis thread, so even though you guys have never heard from me, i feel at home when i write on this thread 🙂

i'm in total agreement. it has affected me in the past and has been the only drawback of my application process. i have never been a great standard test taker. did average on the SATs and the MCATs. on that note, the good part about me is that I am always score average no matter the difficulty of an exam. and i know that i will be a great practicing doctor. 😀

Ok... Lets see here... I sent in my secondary application on 8/20. I got an email saying my file was complete on 9/9. I got an interview request by phone call on 9/30. I interviewed on 10/20 (liked it very much). And I got accepted by phone call on 11/4. Then I got an acceptance letter in the mail a week later. There is no deposit to hold the spot. You just fill out a form and send it back in.

Good luck with everything! 🙂

Just FYI, I called today and was told I'm under review, and to call back in 4-6 weeks if I don't hear anything. They must be pretty backed up. I turned in the secondary on oct 1 and was complete a little bit later.

Yea, I'm still under review here too, I even asked if I was on hold just to check that it wasn't the same thing and she said that they are still reviewing my file. Waaaay backed up.

So I got that complete email on 10/1

I gave them a call this morning and was told that I am still under review and to call again around Thanks giving time!

Oh well...at least I'm still in the running right?!

I got the complete e-mail on 10/1, and today they told me that I'm on hold and will be reviewed again in December.

On a side note, they must be busier than usual today. When I've called before they've been nice and laid back, but today I didn't even get a hello, and they talked super fast! It doesn't really bother me, I just thought it was a little funny.

i called them today as well and was totally surpirsed by her abruptness...i think they were getting a lot of calls today as people are beginning to get nervous and are waiting for thursday to strike! 🙂

atleast i'm not alone in feeling that way...it's annoying that one score trumps four years of effort and success. i'm so tired of being stressed over this..yesterday i left work early and went to happy hour with my girlfriend, i needed to get my mind off med school!

I submitted my secondary on 10/30 and I'm doing the long wait for a complete. I know being complete in November is "bad" but since they take so long with the secondary, do you think it will be as bad?

I'm thinking I won't hear any decision until January at the rate they're going!
