so the matriculation deposit is refundable before may 15th?

Hi everyone, I interviewed at NYU two weeks ago and it is by far my top choice at this point! I haven't had much luck with the other schools I've heard back post-interview (2 holds + 1 rej) and I want to write to NYU and let them know that it's at the top of my list and also update with fall semester grades and my TA position that wasn't brought up during the interview or on my AMCAS... I don't quite want to do a letter of intent, just in case, but it is true that NYU is at the top of my choice right now. 😍 Any suggestions? I read a few pages back on this thread that they really prefer email updates. Is this the case for letters too? (If yes, what is this email address???) I am not really sure how to update them with fall grades because I was planning on printing out a copy of the unofficial transcript from my university services and mail it with my letter... ideas?? Anyone know how NYU takes post-interview letters/updates?

Happy new year! :luck:

i called and asked about LOI's and they said they prefer emails. can you see your transcript online? if so just saw it is an image and attach it to the letter you send in.

i was in a similar boat as you.. i really was going to write a LOInterest if i didnt hear from them.. i think just write it however you want but dont say "if you accept me, i will definitely attend"

Thanks! I did just screen-capture the relevant portion of my transcript... hopefully they'll accept that. Does anyone know what email address might be relevant to address this to? [email protected] is all I could fish out from the website but that seems so unspecific...

hey guys, i just want to make sure i am reading their premeds reqs correctly:
To conform with the requirements of accrediting bodies and the Education Department of the State of New York, the following courses must be included in undergraduate study:

  • English—six semester hours* (two years are recommended)
  • Inorganic Chemistry—a minimum of six semester hours (including laboratory)
  • Organic Chemistry—a minimum of six semester hours (including laboratory)
  • General Physics—a minimum of six semester hours (including laboratory)
  • General Biology or Zoology—a minimum of six semester hours (including laboratory) *A semester hour is calculated as one hour of classroom or two hours of laboratory work each week for a full semester.
six semester hours = 2 semesters of 3 credits each? (i know they explain what a semester hour is but its still weird. i have never thought about my classes like that)

oh man i definitely dont have two years of english

oh man i definitely dont have two years of english
neither do i.. i have 1.5 years but thats only because my school requires a year of first year english and a lit class at some point later on lol

Looks about right. And yes, two semesters of English does total six credit hours (assuming, like you mentioned, 3 credits per class).

Are you definitely going to NYU? I was just accepted a couple weeks ago and pretty sure that's where I'll be next year.

Any idea when the next set of decisions go out ? Interviewed 3rd week of December. Loved the school.

Thanks

Has anyone sent grade updates or know how they want them? Transcripts mailed? Or just an email with my grades?

me too!! which day? i was on thursday the 18th. i absolutely loved the school!! i would like to know when the decisions are coming also.

if im remembering correctly, the only decisions that have gone out are acceptances so far, right?

Has anyone sent grade updates or know how they want them? Transcripts mailed? Or just an email with my grades?

i think im going to email them a screenshot of my unofficial transcript from my school registrar website. but in the body of the email i'll mention what the updated sGPA and cumGPA are!

i made a pdf of my unofficial transcript and sent it in an email to the admissions office...

Ya me too. I wrote a LOI and included my fall grades in pdf form. They told me they only want e-mails as they are strictly "paperless" this year.

Hopefully some more letters will come out soon. I don't see why they are trying to act semi-rolling, as i am sure that they will accept more people, even from the dates that have gotten acceptance letters. I think they are snagging the "super" applicants in hopes of luring them in early.....and that has seemed to work for some of the people here as i have read.

Does anyone know if NYU starts pulling acceptance offers from the waitlist before March? Or is it only after March and most likely by May 15? I know of some schools that accept people off the waitlist even before the interview season is over and was just wondering if NYU is the same. Any thoughts?

Is NYU already putting people on waitlists?

I would suppose so. Why not? I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see why they wouldn't. They have to send out waitlist and rejections, as well as acceptances by March 3rd.

does anyone know if NYU is doing major batches of decision releases or just kinda trickling little bits of them b/w now and march? i interviewed during 3rd wk of Dec and I'm dying to hear back... I really hope we hear back before March!!

I thought it was they send out waitlists/rejections AFTER March 3rd... isn't that how non-rolling (which NYU is supposed to be) is?

yupp!! 99.9% sure i am!! i even bought a sweatshirt and pants already and a keychain to send to my grandma. maybe premature but when i think about how many years i have spent working towards getting into med school and getting into such an incredible place, i cant help it.😍

yeah thats what i would pretty much assume 😕 although i think they decided to be rolling this year.. at least partially.

does this mean that the next round of decisions will probably go around in march?? (but not before) 😱

no, i think acceptances at least will be going out on a rolling basis.

yeah, thats what i meant, that acceptances are rolling but rejections/WL will be non-rolling.

ah. then yes, looks like that is what they are doing until further notice lol,

does anyone know the admissions email address? I can't seem to find it anywhere and it's driving me absolutely crazy.

I got this email address (admissions AT med.nyu.edu) from the school website but not sure if they actually "get" update letters from this email account and put it in our files... I sent an update email over this past weekend so I think it would be reasonable for me to call tomorrow and confirm that they actually got it 😉

When are they telling us we would be hearing back after the interview? I interviewed 3rd week of december as well and I have no idea what timeframe to expect.

Oh which day? 🙂

Maybe I'll also ask about when we might expect to hear back (in addition to seeing if the email address contact was correct...). I'm guessing they can't really tell us but I guess it can't hurt my application, right? ("oh she's so bothersome, let's not let her in")

I interviewed on Dec 18th (thursday)

I was 8 minutes late to my interview, and i didn't even know it because I thought I was at 9:45, and didn't realize until AFTERthe interview when I had asked the admin what time I was scheduled for. Yet I got some positive feedback from my interviewer at the end regarding my application, but did make a point to apologize in my thank you e-mail. So I doubt they are like that..maybe I will call myself too.

I also interviewed that Thursday  You did a thank you email too! I also did that, and wondered if that would make a difference because right afterwards, I checked out the U Penn thread here and thought darn, I should have written a card... but oh well.

I wonder who you were... I was the one who got there a few minutes after my interview time (darn NY traffic, I never knew they were *that* bad) but that was okay because my interviewer was like 15 minutes later than I was. Anyway, I'll post back if I hear anything useful from the adm office tomorrow.

I was the canadian dude!!

I was there December 10th. Nobody has heard anything from late November, early December yet, right?

I think they said they would send some acceptances out towards the end of January. However, they warned us that late December and January interviewees might not hear until March.

Argh, is December 18th considered "late December"? Hopefully not... I'm thinking "mid December" might be better

fyi, just got an interview invite today (complete 9/8) - dates available were between Jan 20 and Jan 30...

congrats! quick question:

do you have a final decision pending when you got the invitation?

They were so vague on the phone.

They said yes, if you send it to the email address I posted above, they should have gotten it, although they don't seem to give confirmation of their receiving it...

As for when we might expect to hear back, the lady on the phone just said, "you will definitely hear by March... you might hear back before then, but yes, definitely by March."

No, you get that message after the interview. When you schedule your interview your status changes from "Under review" to "interview scheduled".

No, my status has always (since 9/5) said "Application Complete - Under Review". I never had the "Final Decision Pending" status...

mid-late november interviewer here, waiting and hoping for the best... NYU is one of my top choices, and i'd love to send them fall semester grades if only my teachers would post them already lol

Does anybody remember the time they had to arrive at the admissions office on the day of their interview?

^
I think they told me to be there 15 minutes before my interview. Of course, traffic is hell in NYU, so plan to be there an hour early and you might get there right on time. 😛

if you have interviews in the morning, 15 minutes before that time. if you have them in the afternoon, 11:45 (before lunch/information talk)

I don't recommend driving. It is easiest to take the 6 train to either 28th or 33rd st and walking the 3 blocks east to the school.

I have an afternoon interview, and they told me to get there at 10:45. Am I missing something here? I might call again to confirm...

haha. if you read a couple of pages back, some ppl received the "final decision pending" pre-interview and one person on this thread received an interview with the final decision status.

Yea your right. I thought he was asking about the post-interview invite status.
