I think someone earlier said that we might get another batch of acceptances at the end of January (for those who interviewed up until "mid-December"), but if you don't hear then, most likely March...

Its really hard to navigate their site and it seems like there are a bunch of people with the title of "dean." Furthermore, the deans name is no where on the folder given to us on interview day. Anyway, the dean is Robert Grossman.

For those who got the "Final Decision Pending" Message pre-interview, did you get an e-mail telling you your status had changed? Or do you just have to obsessively keep checking your status?

I don't think NYU emails ppl after status changes. I didn't get any emails when mine changed...

Nope. no email. I had to check the status page.

I had a very laid back interview. The the only thing I was pushed about was "why NYU". In addition to the standard, "why do you want to go to this school", my interviewer asked what other schools in NYC I was applying to and why I'd go to NYU over them. It wasn't aggressive or anything, but we spent a fair amount of time on it.

My interview was really laid back and only about 20 minutes long, which I was nervous about at the time, but I'm accepted, so I guess it all went fine!

I think why NYU was about the only question I was asked, other than that, he if i had any questions, and that's what we spent most of our time on. So, be prepared with questions or else it would be a really short interview.

for those of you who were already accepted, how long after your interview did you hear back? have acceptances truly been rolling so far, or are they coming back in batches? graciasss

They are in batches. First batch went out at the end of dec I think? That covered ppl who interviewed from the beginning of the interview season all the way up to mid november ish (at least according to SDN records 🙂). I also heard rumbles about the next batch of acceptances coming out at the end of this month (covering up to mid december interviewees), and if you still haven't heard back, the next batch is probably the last batch in march. I think 🙂

Yeah I think the review depends on whenever your interviewer has the time to present your file. But the decisions are sent out in batches.

I honestly hadn't checked my status page for a couple of weeks but from late July until well into December for sure I was still "under review."

Actually, they did not eliminate the possibility that some late December January interviewees might hear before March.

That is true. That would be wonderful, as my interview date was mid-late December 😛

But I figured... end of January and beginning of March is only a month and a half apart (at most). End of December (last batch) and end of January (future batch) is about a month apart. And since:

Interviewees from beginning of the season up to mid-late November --> end-of-Dec batch
mid-late November to mid-December --> speculated end-of-Jan batch

therefore...

mid-December to end of January (end of interview season) --> March batch

If that made any sense 😛

Haha, but then again, purely speculation. And actually, I'd be really happy to know if they released acceptances between end of January and early March because my interview date wasn't quite "mid" December and I want to know ASAP 🙂 🙂

I also sent an email update, then called them like a week later to confirm, but they just said that if I sent it to their main admissions email (I don't remember what it was, but it was on their website, and that's what I did use), they should have gotten it - the end.

Either that or it's a pre-interview hold. Not necessarily a rejection, but in all likelihood it's not going to become an interview invite.

NYU Admissions website says: "Our interview season begins in October and concludes at the end of January." 🙁

I don't think so. A decision that is 'pending' implies that it has not been made yet.

After I interviewed in October, my status was "Final Decision Pending," and I was just accepted in December.

In all likelihood, it's a rejection. I'm sorry -- I have the same status pre-interview as well.
