Ok so i called them today, and it turns i have not been offered an interview and the email had a typo. That should be illegal, got my hopes up.

I agree that is some horrible luck, and a sh*tty situation to be in (for the applicant and for the school).....but unethical? Its not like they did it on purpose just to see the reaction of the applicant. It was a mistake.

Asakking, I hope they end up interviewing you later in the year!

Secondary: Denied 😡😡🙁

Oh well, can't say I'm surprised. I'd been "pending review" since 9/3.

UC Irvine is like the Boston U. of the West in terms of rejections...

Some of the other numbers I'm seeing in this thread are just crazy. It happened last year to my friends too, who got interviews at UCSF and UCSD but were rejected from UCI pre-interview, so don't sweat this UC rejection just yet.

I wish they'd tell me one way or another! They still haven't granted me a secondary but haven't rejected me either! Just the thought of maybe having to do another secondary in the future gives me chills, but I want to stay in California so badly so I still hope...

My student host at Loyola was telling me that he got his rejection letter from UCSD two months AFTER he started med school at Loyola.

If theyve decided they dont like you (ie rejection), being courteous does not seem like a top priority.

That's interesting. I've been checking the status page for a while now, and it wasn't there before. No secondary yet, submitted late August, so not really expecting a secondary either. I guess we'll just have to wait and see..?

I was there that day and a decision was posted on 11/17. But I was put on alternate list. It seems that I must have messed up so much that they didn't even had to think about my application!😕

Dude I've played football since I was ten. Pop warner, high school, and college. Nice try.

You obviously have no idea what the haka is, where it came from, who does it, and why its important. And you are correct, it wasnt meant for soccer either. Its not an American tradition and IMO football players just look stupid when they do it.

Yay, accepted! I got the call on 12/6. They called on a Saturday!!! I was so confused and happy. I volunteer at a museum/aquarium on Saturdays so I was wearing the guide uniform and hanging out next to the alligators. I must have looked incredibly silly doing a happy dance in a bright orange lab coat. 😀

I have yet to receive a secondary or a rejection from them. So I sent them a LOI(interest) asking for a secondary. Unheard of? Maybe, but I want a shot dang it! I'll keep you posted on what happens. I won't be surprised if I have a nice little "DENIED" next to the secondary section of my status page....

So, apparently I was placed on the alternate list 🙁 It'd be nice if they sent an email or something (at least one to let you know to check your status page)... They said I wouldn't hear back until January so I wouldn't have normally thought to check my status page. The only reason I did was because I just got back from other interviews and I was wondering if those had changed and I randomly looked up Irvine just for laughs 😛

The thought of doing another secondary makes me a little sick. But I really want to a shot at UCI.
