I had mixed feelings on the MMI. On one hand, I enjoyed the situations and liked the fact that I was evaluated by eight different people. On the other hand, I did not like that I could not explicitly talk a lot about my application. As for how I did on it, I felt that I did well on 4 of them, so so on 2, and not really good on 2 others. But who knows.

I thought I did well on 4 or 5, ok on 2 or 3, and sub-par on 1. I was alternate listed. I felt the MMI was at least fair, but I wish I could have talked more about my application/qualifications/experiences/dreams/etc. Oh well.

Best of luck to everyone doing the MMI.

anyone had any luck with an in the area email, or letter of interest? I would love the opportunity to interview at cinci... complete for 3 months, still haven't heard anything...

Ick. Hated the MMI. I was there today (along with about 50 other interviewees! No where else have I seen an interview day with that many people..) I normally consider myself a good interviewer, but I felt like I barely had time to start talking before the loudspeaker rushed us into the next room. They were very impersonal and definitely turned me off to a school I liked pre-interview a lot. I am planning to withdraw.

THere are definitely negatives. My interview days was nuts with so many people. I was in the early morning group, but they had people from the afternon group showing up HOURS early and had no where for people to go. Not to mention shoving the stuff of 25 people into one tiny coat closet.

MMIs are a good way to "normalize" the interview process. I've been lucky to have great interviewers this cycle, but I did have one guy that was crazy and a bit confrontational at one interview. He may screw up my chances for the school just because he thought my interests were conflicting. WIth the MMIs, your fate isn't up to one person who may be having a bad day or who may hate someone that you remind them of. Instead everyone is dealt the same hand and its the way you handle it that determines your success.

I defintely did NOT get a good feel for the school, though. I hated not being able to talk to faculty and my student tour guide sucked. I'll definitely need to go back before deciding to go there and will welcome any pro-Cinci comments.

I think someone on this thread got invite via letter of interest/"being in the area" letter

I interviewed there today as well. I also agree with the previous two posters, copperfrog and efitzpat: I was not impressed with the school today. A really nice building alone does not make me feel welcome or want to be a student there. There was nothing they did really badly; but I felt that the school just didn't really care enough about us. Repeating what copperfrog said, it was very impersonal. I want my passion for medicine to be reflected in my school; I don't want to have to look into a dusty mirror for the next 4 years.

Expanding a bit further, I feel that the MMI severely limits your ability to reach any deeper level of understanding with your interviewer. It felt like 7 one-night stands within the span of an hour (without time to wash or breathe inbetween), when what I really would have preferred is having 1 or 2 satisfying relationships. Actually I would love to be able to pick my 4 favorite interviewers today and have an hour long discussion with each of them. I'm sure this has been said elsewhere, but the quality of the interviewer is really the other 50% of the equation. And some interviewers really inhibit the flow of dialogue.

That said, everyone I spoke to was cordial. I spoke with some random students and some random employees, and they all seemed nice and pleasant to talk with. Then again, I was wearing a suit and looking spiffy.

Yeah, about that...

In 2007, Cincinnati accepted 347/574 interviewees (243/352 IS and 104/222 OOS). There were probably 56 people interviewing there yesterday, assuming the afternoon had two MMI's as well.

So, does Cincinnati only have 10 interview days, or are they interviewing way more people for the same number of spots?

They said yesterday that they will be interviewing "a few more" this year. But, I don't think they had too many MMI days either.

I hope they didn't interview so many more; I felt pretty good about my 50/50 chances there.

BTW, I thought the MMI format was kind of fun.

It wasn't particularly the MMI that turned me off (although I didn't like it) but rather the way the interview day was handled.

So what interview day is finding out decisions today? Good luck!!

Decisions come out today? Where did you hear that?

At my interview the other day they said that the adcom met on Mondays and Tuesdays and that they e-mailed decisions on Wednesdays... Is that not every week? I got the impression that was a weekly thing... I didn't mean to get hopes up if they only do it every now and then though.

I interviewed 12/12 in the afternoon and STILL haven't heard anything. Agh.

Gah! Thats surprising since it sounds like the 12/14 crowd started to hear last week!

Does anybody know what interview dates are still waiting to hear?

12/12
12/14
...
2/3

What are the dates in the middle? Might be helpful so that we can watch as people continue to hear...

i don't think there was a 12/14 group (that's a sunday) but i think there was a 1/5 group..or 1/7..something in early jan.

I also interviewed on the 5th and have not heard back yet. I don't think there was an interview day on the 8th, I haven't heard that date mentioned on this thread at all before.

Thats odd... I wonder when they interviewed then... So it sounds like they are still on the interview date before the 5th, which sounds like it is 12/14...

Interviews scheduled on the 8th of January were for MD/PHD candidates and applicants invited for the DID (Diversity Interview Day).

FYI SDN is not the end all be all. Just because its not on here doesnt mean its not true...

Whoa whoa whoa...let's not say things we might regret later... How can this be? 😀

Congrats bud...see you in August

Hey all, was just granted a March interview date... am I interviewing solely for a waitlist spot at this point do you think?

Also, if my interview is at 10 AM, how long should i plan on being there do you think? I am trying to plan my return flight now, thanks!

There is absolutely no way for anyone on here to know if you're interviewing for a waitlist spot in March, but as of right now from what I heard, they are still filling the class.

I would plan on a 6 hour day just to be safe. I checked in at 11:30 am on my day and left at 5pm. Also, the weather is unpredictable here. We had a blizzard in March last year.

thanks for clearing that up, the admissions office made it pretty clear they went in order, but i guess they were only talking about regular admissions.

Accepted yesterday as well!!!! Interviewed on 12/12... and could not be any more excited!

12/12 interviewer here as well. still no word this week. you guys who heard are lucky ducks

Congrats jeepMD! Were you at Wright state on Wednesday? I was surprised how much I liked it. I still think I would pick Cincinnati first, but I'm still waiting to hear back so we will see!

Dohgrl76... I was at Wright last Wednesday and I very much liked it as well. Will certainly have to wait and see what kind of news I get from them.

To the 12/12 interviewees, you should definitely find out today or tomorrow if you haven't heard anything yet. I was last group of the day on 12/12 and found out last Thursday (2/5). However, when I called the week prior, the Admissions office indicated that ALL December interviewees would have word by the end of this week. Good luck to all!

Just got accepted today!!! interviewed 5/5 (morning), so excited.

How long after the interview does it take to hear whether we get rejected or accepted?

From what I remember when I interviewed the Admissions guy said anywhere from 2-5 weeks depending on when your interview group goes to committee.

anyone have an idea of the number of interviews and/or spots that they're filling for this year? I know this has been covered for last years class, just wondering if anyone has any info on this year. I've heard that they're interviewing a 'few more' this year, does this mean that they're looking to fill more seats?

I'm just going crazy sitting on my hands waiting to hear back from these guys (Int: 1/5/08). Cincy is my first choice and I've sent an LOI and and Update letter, but all is quiet on the western front. :scared::scared:

Last thing, I heard the adcom was off 1 week cuz of MLK day, anyone know if the same thing will happen for Prez Day?

I feel like Tweek on South Park...gahh!
