Me too. Is alternate the same thing as waitlisted? I am assuming so just a different term. Now I guess we get to wait some more.

Yep.

It sounds like they have accepted plenty of people from the waitlist in the past, so I'm still pretty hopeful.

So as a rule of thumb, how many days after our interview should we expect to hear?

~3-4 weeks at this point...it sounds like much of 2/4 has heard this week so much of 2/18 should hear next week

I interviewed yesterday and they told us they were up to 4-5 and maybe 6 weeks for us.

seems like they got a really late start on their interviews if their time horizons are going from 2 to 4 to 6 weeks. when i was there 3 weeks ago it was a 4 week delay...

did they give you an idea of how full the class is at this point?

My friend was at the 2-27 interview date and she said they told them they had 45 acceptances left to offer... Over 50 people interviewed that day, plus 50 yesterday... Plus over 50 from the date earlier in February who haven't heard, so over all I think they are running out...

yikes when i was there they had 80 spots...

They told us about 40 acceptances left to offer. There were 25 people in the room with me, but there were more groups I saw during the tour. They were staggered, so I don't know how many people actually interviewed. They did say there is just one more interview day left.

Strange. When I was there, we had two interview times. Each one had a red group of 8 and a blue group of 8.

Total 32 students.

Are they doing 6 groups of 8 now (3 interview times with 16 students each)??

that only accounts for one half of the day (either morning or afternoon depending on your situation). The max number of interviews UC conducts on a full interview day is 64.

EDIT: just an update for those waiting: much of 2/4 should have heard this week. that leaves 2/12, 2/27, 3/4, and the final interview day

If you haven't been keeping up with the thread, ADCOMS typically meet mon. & tues. and seem to review 3-4 groups/week (~40-50ppl). Also, it seems like ppl who were in the same group, i.e. 1-blue, receive their decisions on the same day so the thought is that you are reviewed together to eliminate any bias.

hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!!

for those of you who have been accepted, did you receive anything in the mail afterwards? I thought we were supposed to receive a packet of info and all that good stuff after we were accepted and i was accepted last week and haven't gotten anything. How long did it take? Also, is there a specific time window in which we have to respond to accept the offer of admission? thanks!

I think it took a few weeks for me to get a acceptance packet but it wasnt much. There are two sheets I believe, the first that says congrats and the other to reserve a place in class. Afterwards you will get a financial aid mail as well.

Congrats btw 🙂

I was alternate listed in mid-december after interviewing 12/3. Make no mistake; it's not because you weren't good enough.
thanks. i agree with your member name 🙂

my question is this:

has anyone here gotten an outright rejection post interview?
is there a lot of alternate list movement?

I just cant stand this waiting game...

I was wondering that as well, but if there are they're probably not reading this thread anymore.

However, mdapplicants shows only one person with a post-interview rejection:

Interviewed 2/12. A great turnaround speed, especially considering the # of people they interview in 1 day!

are people being accepted off the alternate list every few days, or is the alternate list staying put until may 15?

has anyone here been moved off the alternate list yet?

As far as I know, they don't start taking alternates until May 15.

waitlisted this morning. out-of-state.

interviewed on 2/27

As of this morning:

"Your interview is complete. No final decision has been reached. Please remember at certain times of the season, the Admissions Committee may take up to 8 weeks to reach a decision. The decision shows on your status page as soon as it is made available from the Committee. Thank you for your patience."

I also interviewed 2/27. Did you get a "... your status has been updated ..." email?

There were so many people there that day. Too much of a crap shoot. Best of luck to everyone.

I was there as well...in the morning session. My status still says the same as yours... :luck:

yeah i got a status change email first.

I think the adcom meets on tuesdays and wednesdays (or something like that.) Maybe they got half way through our group and called it quits till next week.

Good luck!

For those of you that sent update letters, who did you send them to?

I am trying to remember the name of the guy who gave the presentation about the admissions process who explicitly said "please send all updates to me"

Does anyone remember his name? Thanks.

UC Irvine alum right here... They, and UC Davis, didn't show me any love both times I applied to med school, so it'll just have to wait until residency time I guess. Being out here will make you appreciate certain things about Cali waaaay more. But it hasn't been too bad.

And riceman, Cincy does not have an official second-look day

A fellow Anteater! I'm currently on the Alternate list but really hoping to get off... Just wanted to say Zot, and hopefully I can bring some anteater to Cincinnati this fall!

Yeah hope so too buddy.. You have to admit, we had a crappy mascot over there...anteater?? What hippie from the 60's chose that animal when the school opened?? On the other hand, beats UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs...😀

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh is it that bad!!! Or are you just giving the "Cali kid perspective" about MOST other cities not in Cali? LOL

I do the same...I'm in Philly and can't wait to leave...I'm going back to LA tomorrow just to get away from it all
