When does the office open tmw? I still haven't dropped off my site preference card yet. So I'm gonna be there tmw first thing in the morning. Hmmm maybe they'll give me my assignment while I'm there.
 
Thanks for the help everyone. It looks like I'll have to call to reschedule tomorrow though. I would be flying from DC to Illinois the day after Inauguration Day to interview. I've been on airline waitlists for open spots for over a month now, but all they have available costs about $2,000. Out of my price range, I think.

Hmm, you could try renting a car and road tripping it... Its like 14 hours, which is insane, but you dont' want to delay your interview!! If you interview later it will just be harder to get in. I guess it depends on when they can reschedule you, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be until at least a month later.

Or you could rent a car one way to an airport further away and then fly, would cost the extra hundred bucks for the rental car, but there are still options!
 
UIC is notorious for not rescheduling interviews. Bibbed, if you have any trouble when you call, send me a PM.
 
You can take Amtrak from DC to Chicago Union Station
 
Any accepted folks going to the tour tomorrow (noon) at the Chicago Campus? I interviewed at Rockford so I think I will. I'll probably dress to impress to fit in with the interviewees. Hope to see some of you there and best of luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow!

Anyone get a placement test email? It had info about getting a UIN and stuff too.
 
I also got the testing email. I hope it's for ugrads!
 
The e-mail says our UIN is in our admissions packet...did anyone see it? I couldn't find it. Also, does this mean we've been assigned to the Chicago campus??? (please!)

It's never been in that packet; I don't know why they keep saying it is. :d It'll be on another letter you get much later on. As for the e-mail, no, it doesn't mean you're officially assigned. You'll get a site assignment in the mail within a few weeks of sending in your preference card with your acceptance/deposit.

In related news, I was in Admissions office today; the Chicago campus is not yet full, but it's close! In less related news, I had Subway for lunch. It was satisfying.

Ok so I have not received the email you guys are talking about. I have turned in my site placement card along with other information on Monday, Dec. 22nd. I'm really worried now...what does the email have to do with?

i didnt get any email either....should we be worried? from the posts, it seems like it was accidentally sent? no?
 
Yeah, we all just got an e-mail saying we got it in error and not to worry about it...is UIC always this disorganized? Hehe

I was placed in Rockford during the last acceptance cycle and I still got the e-mail so it may not necessarily signify a Chicago placement.
 
I got the email and then a following, woops, error email.

What should i make of this?

Also, what should I be doing for UIC right now? I've sent them my transcript, which they say they have a mound to go through, and will be sending them my immunizations shortly.

Basically, what should i be doing right now?

haha. you know, i'm just so used to doing SOMETHING to get into medical school. it's just a weird feeling to not have to do anything.

What's everyone doing with their last remaining 'free' months of their lives?

Nothing. I saw the mound yesterday. It's quite substantial, so try and be patient. It's a good idea to get your immunizations in ASAP (remember, they have to be titers) because in about four months they'll start harassing you by e-mail. 🙂
 
So Chicago campus is not full? Any idea why some of us got placed in Rockford then?
 
i just got my site assignment in the mail today: urbana then rockford.
i marked chicago as my preferred site. not sure what's up, because i have no connection to either urbana or rockford and went to undergrad in the city. hope that helps...

does anyone know when site assignments are considered "final"? i wonder if they're saving some chicago seats for the very end? just curious if anyone knows what they do with chicago slots that acceptees claim early on but open up if those people choose a different school.

Hmm... that is strange indeed... I'm sure they're holding some Chicago seats for those who have yet to interview with spouse and kids or other obligations in Chicago. Our assignment is final unless we petition, which won't be reviewed until after May 15th, the last day anyone can hold multiple seats at schools. I'm sure seats will open as people drop UIC for somewhere else.

i turned it in on dec. 22. i live in the city, which is why my site assignment might have come soon. i honestly wasn't expecting to get it this week because they've been closed for the holidays.
 
I have no part in the site assignment, so I don't know how that's done. Was just passing on the "some spots are still left" news. 🙂
 
oh man there is def no hope for me coming out of california to get chicago then 🙁
 
at the peoria interview they said something along the lines of 'first come first serve basis so chances of getting chicago are low this late in the season' during the introduction.
 
How long does it take for the background check to be completed? Does the background check have to be completed before the site assignments are given out? Mine is still in progress and it has been a week.

my cbc took 3 business days. the site assignment was dated the day the cbc was completed, but that's probably just a coincidence. if you live out of state, you might get it today or tomorrow. let us know what site you get! :luck:
 
CBC was just completed. I'll let you know about the site assignment when I get it. Put Chicago as #1 also but after reading about everyone we don't have high hopes for it. Probably won't be for awhile though. They would have received it Jan 5th so we have a while to wait, I think?
 
Hey guys!

Just to confirm that the email some of us accidentally received about placement test doesn't necessarily mean you are assigned to the Chicago campus

I also received that email. Today, I received my campus assignment thru mail. I am placed in Peoria.

I mailed in my preference card on Dec 23rd from the Chicago surburb. My online status said they received it on January 5. My first choice was Chicago. Peoria was my second choice.

I also believe they are currently reserving seats for Chicago. Hopefully those who wanted it but didn't get it can get a shot at it later! :xf:
 
Boo...very sad, just got placed on the Rockford track. 🙁 How does the appeal process work? Is there a form due at a certain time, or do we only find out about that after May 15th?
 
did anyone interview in peoria jan 6? i lost the sheet with my interviewers names on it... pm me if you have the sheet, i was group c.

There's no real form, to my knowledge. Just write a letter detailing why you wish to/should be placed in Chicago and mail it to the Admissions Office. Might give them a phone call to double check the process.
 
Got my assignment as well today. Champaign then Rockford. I thought I was done with Urbana-Champaign. I guess I gotta suck it out one more yr there. My first choice was Chicago, second was Urbana and third was Rockford and submitted my forms Jan 5th for those who are interested.
 
I just scheduled my UIC interview.... however, it is not until march 11th... is there any chance of me getting in at that point or am I just looking at being placed on the waitlist???? any feedback it greatly appreciated

UIC doesn't make much of a practice of interviewing solely for the waitlist. They've had to add interview days due to a large number of qualified applicants. While your chances of admission may not be as good as they would have been in September/October, I'd suspect there are will still be some seats available in the non-Chicago campuses.
 
If I petition for Chicago campus but don't get it, you don't think I could petition again for Peoria could I? I got placed in Rockford btw. My parents recently moved and Peoria is now closer to them than Rockford is so Peoria would work out better than Rockford if Chicago can't be obtained. It sounds so complicated and I don't think this can be done, but can someone give me your thoughts anyway?

"I strongly desire Chicago for the following reasons. If under whatever circumstances this is not possible, I would prefer the Peoria campus due to the close proximity of family and my support structure. Thank you for your consideration. The dean is my hero and my first born - male or female - shall bear his name. Love always, Proctodoc"

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you that turned in your site placement cards on Jan. 5th, received your site assignment yet? I know UIC received my acceptance envelope on the 5th, but I still haven't heard back from them....anybody else still waiting for their site placement?

I turned in my card on the 5th also and have not heard anything. I am not anxiously anticipating it because I know I am not gonna get chicago anyways🙁
 
Also waiting. Thought it would come today but it didn't. Online it says they got it Jan 6th so sometime this week, maybe!
