yeah, i'm also super antsy about hearing back from U of R (interviewed 9/29). they really have an amazing program there. if you check the acceptances thread, there is one person who interviewed 9/5 and heard back 10/15.

I interviewed on 9/29 too, they told us that it would take 6 weeks to hear back so I don't think we should begin to worry for some time.

I was the "other asian" guy there 🙂 hope good luck to you, who knows, maybe we'll be classmates!

I hope you all get in! I was so excited to get that phone call 🙂 It is such an amazing school and program!

Congrats! I was really impressed with the program and I could easily see myself there, the people were so friendly and down to earth.... sigh...

oh i remember now lol, haha thanks for jolting my memory, there was another person from your school there right?

Yes there was. Hope your other interviews went well. Crossing my fingers for both of us to hear something good soon.

definitely man, best of luck!

Hooray bpman! Congrats! If you have any questions about the school, let me know :hardy:

Good luck to the rest of you guys... I keep checking SDN hoping for some good news! :luck:

Anyone know how to update the school on new activities?

I would send all updates directly to dean Hansen. He will respond and is a really nice guy. He will also put them in your file that way!

I have already made my decision to attend Rochester. I declined my MCW interview today and even though I got accepted to SLU too, I think I am just going to decline... I just loved Rochester so much and felt so at home. And the program is SO impressive!

Good luck to you all. I am hoping for all of you 🙂

Do you have a the email address for Dean Hansen?

Awesome, bpman! I'm glad you loved it here so much 👍

Oh, and word to the wise when sending updates... make sure it is substantial. You don't want to send a line about a new activity that you do, for example, once a month just to be sending something. It looks like fluff. Also, it can be a good idea to start off your update w/ your interest in the school. PM me if you need more info.

I am sure I met you at some point! One of the best parts of Rochester that I found nowhere else I interviewed was how fun, nice, and outgoing all of the students were. I mean, my gosh the student hosts I was with took me to a medical student party after my interview with another applicant from UF... which was the most fun I had had in some time! They were all crazy and yet the next morning were getting up for AN OPTIONAL deaf clinic exercise.... I was just blown away because that is exactly the type of people I wanted to surround myself with... very fun yet very serious about medicine.

I am actually planning on canceling my other 2 interviews in the next two weeks... because I just had such an absolute click with Rochester... ahhh I am so excited!

:hardy: I'm PMing you to figure out who you are...

I interviewed at Rochester on 9/4 and I still haven't received any sort of email or phone call. My status still says 'invite.' Does that mean that I'm probably rejected? 😕

The students did blow me away as well. I did not attend a party but I did sense the professional/mature/exceedingly bright yet human qualities of these students. When I received that call on 10/15, I had so much trouble speaking properly that they must have wondered why they accepted such an idiot!:luck:

For those waiting to hear from U of R, be patient. I think a lot of times early interviewees like us lose sight of the fact that it is still very very early in the process. The first day med schools could send out acceptances was just three days ago. There are still months ahead. Granted no one likes to be left hanging, one still has to have perspective. For those of you who are waiting, keep the faith!!

Congrats bpman. I feel like I am in the same boat as you. I was accepted on 10/15 as well at Rochester and I enjoyed my interview experience so much that I am all but certain that I will be attending U of R next fall.

Congrats to you as well my friend. I know what you mean about the phone call... I just stuttered "Oh... my God. ahahahahahhaah!!!!!" It was fairly awkward because I was in the Zoology building at my University jumping up and down.... I assume we will be classmates 🙂 When did you interview?!

Congrats, Hope! No worries about the phone call... I was the same way. I heard "Hi, this is Dr. Hansen..." and I immediately said "OH MY GOSH!!!"... needless to say, the next thing I heard on the phone was laughter 👍

I'm so glad you loved the students! I can't say enough wonderful things about my class and the second years. The students were definitely a big part of what brought me here. Everyone is here to work hard, but everyone is so down to earth... including the faculty.

Okay, enough of my Rochester love-fest for now... I'm back to cardio, but hope you're celebrating! :hardy:

So I just realized that I read the academic requirements wrong for this school. I thought that they accepted AP credits for their 12 hour humanities/social and behavioral science requirements. I just received an interview and would really like to go here, but since I have not taken a single humanity course in college I would have to take 19 hours of classes my last semester of college. I am an engineering major so I used all of the advanced placement credits from high schools to fulfill my undergrad's humanities requirements (I had 33 hours of AP classes). So my question is does anyone think Rochester will have a decision by January 13 if my interview is on December 12 so that I can sign up for the classes? Also is it worth it to take all those classes (which I will hate) my last semester of college?

I don't know about their decision time. As for taking those classes, if you really like Rochester, and if you're not accepted to somewhere better already, I'd take those classes. This is your future you're talking about. Weighing a few extra credits of class to becoming a doctor and reaching your dreams, i'd think going to med school is more important. I'm in engineering and those humanities classes were nothing compared to thermodynamics. Plus, can't you schedule them first and then drop them if you don't want to go to Rochester?

Considering the fact that I have been complete since early August and I have not heard a peep from them, should I be bracing myself for a rejection?

They might. I don't know how it will work during the holiday season, but they try to get decisions out once a month. I think I got my decision 6 weeks after my interview.

I'm going to spare you the "how do you know you will hate them?" lecture... but if you are seriously interested in coming here, then yes, it's worth it.

I can only give you my anecdote, so bear in mind, N=1, but I was complete mid Sept. and didn't hear till the last day in November. I had a friend that was complete a little less than a month after me and was rejected a couple days before I got my invite. So, it's somewhat random. Don't think about if or when rejections will come... the application cycle will be so much longer if you do :luck:

Just got the acceptance call! 😀 Restricted number.

I interviewed 9/29 and My status page still says invite.

Good luck to everybody still waiting. I was told the adcom met yesterday to make descisions. Hopefully more will be coming!

Congrats! I was just accepted by phone too! YAY

😍 Rochester 😍

congrats guys!

did you hear back after 5pm?

did you hear back after 5pm?

Thanks! It was before 5pm eastern, I had a message from the U of R left on my phone at 4:28pm eastern time. Good luck to you!

I really hope I hear back today, I interviewed Sept 12th before both of you guys so I am getting pretty nervous. Rochester is definitely one of my top choices. Does the admissions committee look at files in order of interview invite?

congrats to the above! anybody heard any interview invites lately? i was complete on sept 23rd and am waiting eagerly.

I am also hoping to hear back soon. I interviewed the 19th and still have not heard anything, and my status page has not changed.

same boat as you KEEK, i'm getting really nervous too...am probably expecting the worst.

It's hard to expect the best when you see that other people have already gotten phone calls and when you have no idea how many acceptances they are offering right now. Ugh. Waiting is painful.

For those you were accepted, did you also get an email?

i'm waiting also 🙁 hopefully they'll let us know something soon..

I received an email the next day (today) and my status page was changed to accepted. Good luck to you all.

I just heard today after interviewing on Sept. 12th, so notification isn't necessarily in exact order of interview. I got the e-mail and my status changed a few hours after getting the call. So don't give up yet - good luck!

rochester's random review seems so strange. i just called and the admissions lady said that theoretically someone who was complete in august could go without even being reviewed until february. it wouldn't seem so weird if they didn't have rolling admissions. huh. hopefully ill get lucky i guess, i really like this school

So I'm curious... when selected for interview at U of R, everyone has a fair shot at interviewing for a spot right? Or do they actually divide students into interviewing for a waitlist spot and interviewing for an acceptance spot? Are there schools that actually does that?

I'm surprise I got an interview at U of R since my numbers aren't that great...

hm...I got a rejection from Rochester today via snailmail. :-(

I guess its time to add more schools?

Is it too early to call them and ask why my application is rejected? I mean...there could be valuable information that I missed....

sad....

they seem to be doing this really randomly... because alot of people who got rejected had really really really amazing numbers...anyone with like a 30 get rejected yet?

Rejected today, just like many others. Bah. This is my first real rejection (UPitt was a throwaway application, so I didn't care about that one). It does not bode well for the rest of my schools 🙁

Congrats to those accepted!
I just got a rejection letter via snail mail too.

Although, kire1802- I am amazed that you didn't at least get an interview... your stats are quite nice.

Huruck!!! I got rejected today. I thought my stats were good for this school too. 🙁

I wonder why I got rejected?

I find your rejection surprising too... You seem to have great stats. My only guess would be that maybe the 8 in the VR killed you? But a sweet pair of 14 for the other two sections should at least get an interview.

i have about a 30 and was complete in 8/25ish...haven't heard a peak. IS. grr.

for those rejected, did your online status change? I didn't get anything in the mail, but maybe it's jus cus my school's not in NY so it's gonna take an extra day or so.
