I got the same message. I would like to talk with admissions about the reasons. When you call about this, how do you ask....just ask "what are the reservations?" or what...I am just looking for some help to sound professional...
 
Has anyone had an issue with the word limits? My essays are both slightly over, but the webapp doesn't generate any error message.

I just wanted to check so that I didn't have the end of my essay cut off when they process my app.

Have any of you that received this "further" message a few weeks ago received any status updates/interviews? I just received it today, and after reading on here it seems that it is the 3rd best to receive, but does it actually mean anything?

Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. First interview invite! Wohoo! :hardy:

Really fast turn-around too. I got the secondary a week and a half ago, submitted it yesterday night (Sunday), and got an interview invite today at 6 PM (Monday, Labor Day).

I had no idea they would turn around so quickly, especially on a holiday?
Weird.

Anyway, scheduled interview for September 25th at 10AM.
Time to start prepping I guess. :scared:

Hey everyone, I just got back from the VCU interview and it was just as conversational and relaxed as people have been saying on the boards. The people there are amazing and very supportive. Good luck all! (Now I need to sleep... 😴)

Jamie, Congrats for your interview. I have to ride the same boat pretty soon...kindo stressed out.
 
I also interviewed at VCU today. The interviewer was very nice and very informative. Our tour guides (4th year med students) were also great. I think everyone there was great.... I was super stressed out though...and the first half of my interview consisted of many awkward silent moments and me looking blankly at the interviewer.....I hope that doesn't mean bad news...

Anyway, good luck to everyone! The questions were fair and expected. Don't stress too much!

So would you say more personal questions rather than "how would you fix our health care system" ~ish questions?
 
The general consensus from the interviewees seems to be that the medical questions were more open-ended instead of specific or situational. I think they wanted to see if you had thought about the subject rather than a particular answer. My interviewer mostly asked personal questions based on the primary and secondary application.

Isis, maybe it was just your stress made the interview appear awkward... I'm sure you did great!

i have been complete since aug 2 but i have had no status change. are you instate? i don't think you need to worry about the message. many people have gotten interview invites with your message
 
I'm in state, just worried because I don't have the best stats, but they are on average with VCU, GPA alittle higher

Yes, all personal questions. No questions on politics, current events, or health care. Though we did somehow end up in a discussion on health care. I think I started that one though...lol

So basically you got the

why you wanna be a doctor?

what makes you good?

what makes you bad?

and then family personal questions? Any of the top three missing? I wanna do well for VCU and those 3 questions are the ones that want to rehearse for only. Dont want to sound like a robot you know.

I was asked extensively about entries from the activities section of my AMCAs. YMMV.

Got this message in August and then got an interview invite today. So no...you're not screwed. Don't stress!

I don't know if this is a bad message to get....

I just got the 'further' one yesterday. I'm out-of-state. Does a LOI mean you will absolutely go to their school if admitted? VCU is very high on my list, but not at the very top b/c of in-state tuition reasons. Do you send LOI via e-mail or snail mail?
 
for any OOS applicants, how long did you spend in the completed stage before you received your status message (i.e. the "may" message, or the "reservations" message)?

I submitted both my secondary and my LORs to them this past Friday (Aug. 29), and yesterday I received the 'further' message. So that's a 4 business day turn-around from submission to message.

Edit -- I'm OOS.

Edit2 -- At 1 pm today, I just got a call with an interview invite. I almost passed out.

You got a call for your interview.... that's odd. Did you get an email too?
 
4 day turn around, hot damn.

I have been complete since mid-August, and still no signs of my existence. I wanted to give them a call, but when you log-in there is a warning that states annoyance = application death, hence I am scared.

i wouldn't worry too much. i thought i had gotten rejected because i got a notice that i wasn't in their "priority scoring" deal or something like that and then i randomly got an interview a few weeks later. pretty much just saying don't count it out

No e-mail, and my status is still the "further" message. I scheduled the interview though, and they said my status would be updated to my interview date w/in 24 hours. They offered me an interview FAST too. I'm going down next week.

That was my first thought, and it's a bit worrisome. However, an interview's an interview, so I'm going make the most of it. Much better than no interview at all.

Does anyone know what happens after interview? I am trying to find out when the committee actually meets and discusses the applicants after the interview. Do they wait until Oct 15th to reconvene?😕

Yeah, I got this message August 1st and have not heard from them since. I emailed them asking for an update because I have an interview out on the east coast for another school and would like to do both of them while out there. Is there a number for the office of admissions?
 
So I was in the cafeteria at VCU today and I noticed a group of young people walk in wearing nice suits and carrying folders and/or padfolios. I'm guessing they were med school interviewees but they could have been for another school on campus.

Can anyone who's interviewed tell me what your options are for lunch? I'd prefer to not eat in the cafeteria if I have a choice.

Go to one of the street vendors around the campus. My personal favorite is the Caribbean place.
 
On average, how long is it taking to get an answer? I have been complete since 7/28, and I have heard nothing. I've looked at some MDapps profiles, and others have gotten answers within a month. I'm coming up on 6 weeks. Should I call just to make sure everything's okay?
