FSU Secondary for example, asks about SAT/ACT scores? I took those exams about 6 years ago.. I checked college board etc. to try and get my scores because frankly I can't remember. I have not been able to find them? Any suggestions, I took both the SAT and ACT in highschool 2004/2005.

If you're a florida resident, you can check facts.org, go to the section that says college students and I think it's in your unofficial transcripts. You can also call the registrar's office at your university and ask for the score. If all else fails, call fsu med admissions, they are very helpful and always pick up when I call. Hope you find it

Bah. I am completely cool these days until I hop on to SDN and suddenly digress into a self-doubting worry wart with no interview invites. When will I ever learn? Well, at least there is cold beer in the fridge.

Me too (minus the cold beer in the fridge..)! I need to learn to stop coming here, because it just makes me doubt myself. I'm sure I'll still check it 100 times a day though..

If anyone has an upcoming interview and would like to split accomodations, PM me and let me know when your interview is. Don't expect me to party on interview eve either 😉

when did you get an invite?

It has been quiet in here lately!

Plane tickets are SO expensive for that weekend, but it's so worth it. Just need to work on finding a place to stay.. anyone have student host info?

I'm so excited!!!

Just wondering when regular invites go out???

They have been. Seems kind of erratic sometime. I remember last year people were getting interviews and they submitted their application after me. I submitted within a day of receiving in July or August (whenever they first sent it out). I got invited for an interview near the beginning of October.

I submitted the 1st day, too. I think I'm a really good fit for the mission of FSU. Let's hope they feel the same way, too! I sent some supplementary info to the Admissions office today so I'm hoping to hear from them. Thanks for the info, Mosspoh👍

PS Congrats, Sammich 117!

How did your interview go? I'm sure you'll be getting great news on the 15th!!

I think it went well - the school is amazing and the people there were great... I'll report more on how it went after I hear back on how I did!

There is talk of making an official student housing thing for interviews. Some diligent folks in the school are also putting together a packet with good places to eat and what not in Tallahassee.

For breakfast I recommend Bada Bean on apalachee parkway. Why? Because its awesome and cheap.

I was able to priceline a very nice hotel room at the Residence Inn by Marriott on a game weekend for $52. Brand new, continental breakfast, and a 5 minute drive from school. Did I mention there was a kitchen and a bar in the room!? 👍 for priceline.com

You miss the point of student housing. 😉 The point is to learn more about the school and interact with the students, in addition to saving money. NO continental breakfast will come close to bada bean either. I stayed in many hotels during interview season. The places I left most impressed with were the ones I stayed with students.

You've got a point - just saying there's another option as well 🙂

Hmm...is that really the question? I'd stick to what FSU is asking, and I don't recall a question that says "why will you make a good physician". You should have already conveyed that in the personal statement. Maybe the folks you spoke with were superstars and could have wrote about their favorite pet pony and still gotten accepted. BTW it's Answers.com.😎

umm the prompt exactly : Write a critical analysis of your personal and scholastic qualifications for the study of medicine and the realization of your professional ambitions

yeah it is called the self-critical essay, but their explanation if it is to write about a critical analysis of your qualification to be a doctor. I barely wrote anything negative

First interview 🙂

Anyone know what types of questions they ask?

For all you guys who have received interviews can you post your stats please!!!

Congrats. As long as you can hold a conversation you'll be fine IMO. Very friendly and just want to get to know you. Know your 1ry and 2ry well. Check out the interview feedback, I think most people had a similar experience. Good luck!

Is there a particular reason, other than knowing what they might ask you off it, that you should know your 1ry and 2ry well? Why do I always see people saying memorize (or read over many times) your 1ry and 2ry? I understand you'll probably be asked things about your experiences but ... is there another reason?

No reason other than they went line by line and asked about everything on mine. So if you have any numbers or stats in your activities it's best to know what they are.

Who else is going to the interview on October 30, 2009 at 11:30 pm?

Anyone else already interview here and waiting for some news? October 15th right? Should I hold my breath for that day? How long did it take people from last year that interviewed before Oct 15th? 😀

The types of questions they ask depend on the interviewer. Oftentimes you can call or email a few days before your interview and find out who you are meeting with. First interviewer for me was very conversational. The second interview felt like a true interview. I was given some ethical questions, a problem to work through and a dirty go through of my transcripts. I actually walked out of my second one feeling pretty demoralized at the time.

Overall, it isn't much to worry about. Just practice interviewing skills and know your application. If you truly did the things then it isn't an issue.

And let me tell you folks... critical analysis did NOT mean whine about your faults. I asked about this during the interview day just to put a lid on it. Trust me - they'll ask you during the interview about any yellow and red flags in your application. For my FSU essay, I wrote about how my scholastic/personal/professional ACHIEVEMENTS will correlate to being a great student and physician. (large period)

Both of my interviewers were conversational and we seemed to have a lot of personal topics to discuss. The only medicine-related "questions" were just some open-ended discussions about current events in health care... no-brainer if you read/watch the news. As long as you're not a complete fake, you'll be okay.

opps never mind I read that one wrong!

This how it works if you interviewed after the 15th.

I have some experience since I interviewed there last year. What happens is that after your interview , the two interviewers will go and talk to the rest of the adcom and give them their recommendation to whether accept you, wait list you, or reject you. After a one week period, FSU will email you with a letter telling your status.

That is how they did it last year. I dont know if they will still do it like that this year.

question for any MS1's out there: should i be concerned that i haven't been offered an interview yet since my application was complete on july 6th? or is there a chance of being interviewed later in the year or next year even?
thank you...

Not an MS1 (hopefully next year!) but from having interviewed, I don't think you should be that worried... it's still early for them and they only do 12 interviews a week.

That's a relief. I got rejected from yet another school today. I needed a little boost of hope.

Sounds good...I was accepted EDP with below average MCAT to boot...but write what you will. To each his own.😉

For all you guys/girls who just got invited for interviews. When did you turn in your secondaries? Was it recent or back in july/aug? Just want to see how I'm holding up haha... Thanks!
