I interviewed late march and got my acceptance email tuesday and the letter in the mail yesterday. If you have not heard yet don't give up hope, as they will have more slots open up. I know this because I know at least one person who is calling today to give up their spot to go to a private school.

Thanks for this, at least I know they started the March interviews. This is very helpful. thanks!

I heard the Committee met before the 15th so possibly they will mail letters today or tomorrow? Does anyone know?

I interviewed in early February and received a letter of "active consideration" about four weeks later.... still no word. I also got accepted to Shreveport but REALLY want to go back home to NOLA for school 🙁 Has anyone heard of any rejection letters being sent out? Congrats to everyone who has gotten in!! 😀

We're in the same exact boat, except I interviewed in early March. I've got acquaintances that have gotten rejected (some of which have gotten into LSU-S strangely enough), but I'm not sure when or even if they interviewed. I'm hoping for an e-mail tomorrow, people that got accepted last week got their e-mails on Tuesday.

I heard that they had more people than they expected accept their invitations to join next year's class. They are looking at 228 in the class right now. I don't think we are currently equipped to handle that many. This is semi-unsubstantiated rumor, but I would think that this means waitlist movement might be slow/nil.

probably just wishful thinking, but if that were true why would people be getting letters last week? not to say you're wrong

I could be very wrong. That was what I heard from someone who usually knows what's going on in admissions. I don't want to freak people out, just thought I would pass on the gossip.

Does anyone know if there should be acceptances sent out this week or did they just send them last week?

I really don't think anybody knows anything, just a lot of guesses.

I had called yesterday. The lady who answered told me there will be no more acceptance e-mails. Only letters. When I asked when they would be meeting she said they met on the 6th. They will form a wait list. It has not been formed yet. Oh she said they should start sending the letters out by the end of this week. I am assuming this would include acceptance, wait lists and rejections.

Why would they send out acceptance emails last week and not this week? I don't get it.😕

I am guessing if someone was waiting to hear from LSUNO to make a final decision by May 15th, and shell out the deposit to another school it would help to get that info pronto by e-mail. By now the deposit to the other school (if they had one or more acceptances) is already made. So where is the hurry? They will need to decide if it is worth withdrawing from the earlier school and forfeiting the deposit to go to LSU.

that's kinda what i figured. possibly those people were accepted somewhere else already. when she said later on this week, did she mean a mailout today or tomorrow?

She said letters will be mailed out towards the end of the week. When I asked if there is a "wait List", she said they were working on it. My guess is the earliest letters would arrive early next week. Her comment "they met on the 6th" begs the question -Are they going to meet again or was 6th the last and final meeting when everyone was put in a order of preference of sorts?

Curious but how did you get ANY info out of those people. Every time I have ever called that office, I can barely get out a sentence before being shotdown with the "We will let you know as soon as possible" comment 😛 Oh well, good luck to everyone who is sharing in this academic purgatory, Im right there with you

This is not the first time I have called. On earlier occasions they had given me to the point one line answers. This is the longest conversation I had with them. They probably took pity on me as I was calling to know my fate first thing in the morning after the 15th deadline. I have always called first thing in the morning.

Glad you found out, yeah i found out from Dr. Eubanks himself that the committee met before the 15th but I see in previous threads that people would get acceptance letters after the 15th so maybe there is like some sort of ranking system or something like that. But I wish I would just know my results, good or bad-I just want to know now:idea:

Well, I got my "priority alternate list" letter today. Im glad to see the school is consistent with how vague they are in there communications with applicants. 🙁 Anyone know how long or how many people are on this list?

ok so it looks like they mailed letters? I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled!!! Even though I already have been!

Is this letter of "active consideration" different from the "no action taken" letter?

mail came WAY late, im waitlist too. again we're in the same boat. i have a friend that got nothing at all, though, and we live in the same area, who knows if that means anything

I received the same "prioritized alternate list" letter today condemning me to further time in waiting purgatory. The letter reads,

"...I must emphasize that the number or offers we can extend depends entirely on the number of withdrawals we receive between now and the middle of August. While it is possible you could be accepted at any time, we will be able to more clearly assess your chances of receiving an acceptance sometime after June 30, 2010."

I guess it is a good thing since it is not a rejection letter.

On that note, has anyone received a rejection or acceptance letter since May 18th? Does anyone know how many people are on this Wait List? Has the admissions office let anyone know what ranking/priority they are on the Wait List?

Also, to anyone who hasn't received a letter yet and wants to know a time estimate, my letter was dated May 18th, postage date reads May 19th, and I received it on May 20th.

Still waiting... and waiting ... and waiting some more,
:bang:

Hey does anybody know if the committee is meeting soon? Because if the committee met on the 6th and made final decisions, there was obviously withdrawals the week of the 15th (after the committee met on the 6th), so there has to be open spots now. I think that's a good scheme to meet a week before the 15th because it leaves more spots open for people that are on the alternative list.

I interviewed in march, however i have only received the no further action letter. Does this mean i was rejected? Does LSU send out rejection letters to those who interviewed? I want to know so that i can schedule a meeting with eubanks discussing what my next step should be.

wait a little bit bc these letters were only sent out a couple of days ago. but to answer your question, nola does send out rejection letters around this time to those that didn't make their final waitlist. if you still don't hear anything in a few days, give them a call to see if they can give you any information- be sure to tell them you didn't get a letter yet.

I called the office and asked if they could give any info concerning where I was (number) on the list. They said it wasn't a number system. It might be like waitlist system for the PA school in shreveport. If a student withdraws, they pick the student from the alternate list that is most like the candidate that withdrew... most similar profile (i.e. scores, grades, background) I just want to be able to move forward! Considering that Shreveport starts July 30, and NOLA begins AFTER that, doesn't help with the anxiety...🙁

OMG!!! maybe that's why it's called alternate list-it kinda makes sense, isnt it a step above the waitlist though? And I wanted to say, 2 years ago all I got was a no further action letter and didnt get another letter until June when I got rejected so I am not saying that not hearing anything by May 15th means a rejection, but didnt Dr. Eubanks say himself that if you dont get anything then that means you're on the waitlist right? I think I was put on the waitlist because in my rejection letter it said there werent enough spots.

Hey ya'll,

So I'm trying to get a 2 bedroom apt. in the Residence Hall next to school, send me a PM if anyone is interested in possibly being roommates. Since I'm a female, I'd prefer someone female.

Thanks ya'll and see everyone soon!!

Just got my rejection letter in the mail from NOLA. It's okay though cause I was already accepted to Shreveport so it ain't no thang 🙂

Did you get another letter before that after the May 6th meeting or is this the first letter you got in awhile?

Nope. I interviewed on February 9th and received a "no action has been taken but still under active consideration" letter some time around March. The rejection letter that I received today was the only letter I have received since that letter.

I'm sorry to hear that hey at least you're gonna be a doctor, I'm not even accepted anywhere yet although I do have hope, I'm on priority alternate list at NOLA. Congrats for getting into Shreveport!!!

I don't think your "PA school" theory is correct. I called this morning to LSU-NO's admissions office and spoke with the secretary Ms. Stuckey about the prioritized alternate list. I inquired as to whether it was a ranking system or this "most like the student who withdrew" system and was informed that it IS A RANKING SYSTEM and is a waitlist. No, you cannot find out what rank you are on the waitlist, nor can you find out how many other people are on the waitlist.

I don't know why they hide these numbers from people, it would solve their problem of being inundated with phone calls.

I agree totally. It would help both the office and the hopefuls. I can't think of any benefit that could come from hiding the information.

i called admissions yesterday, the wait list IS the priority alternate list and it is ranked! I asked Ms. Stuckey if she knows if the waitlist will be moving fast or slow as i know she cant tell me my rank on the list, she said she couldnt tell me that info. Darn it!

this thread is dying- I just found out that if a spot opens up, it'll be up to Dr. Mcluggage to make a decision for the waitlist. The Committee won't be meeting again.

The waitlist is moving..From what I remember at the interview, Dr. Eubanks said that at the final committee meeting, all the applicants get ranked onto the waitlist. so hopefully we're at the top of that list:luck:

on a different note, did anyone interview MD/PhD here? and can you give me some feedback of what that interview was like?

The waitlist is moving? How do you know? We should probably expect a phone call at this point? They probably won't send letters will they?
