I still haven't received the secondary. :scared:

I'm going to call them this week.
I called them yesterday. I'm in the same boat. They said they were still screening. My stats are above the average for the school, so I don't know what the heck is going on.

Congrats BBender!! When were you complete?

I don't know exactly when I was complete, since I never received an email or any notification. I was actually going to call in on Thursday to check my status to make sure they received all my materials, but I literally woke up to a phone call from their admissions on that Thursday telling me I had an interview!

If I were to say when they received all my materials I'd have to say around 8/7. I finished it 8/5 and UPSed it and it was supposed to arrive within one business day so 8/7 is probably when they received it all. Maybe 8/10?

I looked all over the Loyola website..

Anyone know what Loyola's grading system is for the first two years?

Honors, High Pass, Pass, Fail according to Princeton Review's database... hmmm

Just wanted to confirm what another poster wrote--the grading system here is pass/fail/high pass/honors/. Despite this, it's a very collaborative and noncompetitive atmosphere--and we just had our first test today, so I can definitely attest to it.

FYI, some courses (such as Patient Centered-Medicine) are graded pass/fail.

Just got the interview packet from Loyola. Very cool. I'm extremely pleased with the thoroughness of the information about both the school and the interview day. Just another reason I love Loyola now!

Last secondary to complete, and it is a beast! I have been putting this one off for the past week (received 8/11).
Agreed that some of the essay questions are bound to prompt reiterations of AMCAS applications...

I hadn't heard from Loyola at all, and my amcas verified near the end of June, so I called them today to see what was up, and they had no record of my ever applying to their school. They told me they'd find out what happened and give me a call back, but I haven't heard back yet.

So, if you haven't heard a word from Loyola yet...you might want to call them 😉

Interview! I'm so excited!

I received the call last Thursday (8/20) and scheduled for 9/8 in the early morning. For anyone's records, I received the complete email on 8/5.

Best of luck to everyone else, and sorry for not posting earlier as I was very busy packing/preparing for this first week of school.

Feel free to PM with questions.

Anyone else applying without a non-sceince LOR?

ugh.. i've been verified since july 30, and i haven't heard from them at all either!
i called the office, and they told me that they are just taking a while to screen the applications. just in case, i asked them to check if my app was received, and yes, they are still screening.

i guess they screen in more detail?? i wonder what they look for..

i emailed them and they said they just got my mcat score. i wonder why that is? ah well.

so they do screen here? if so, how thorough is it? comparable to UCSF/Vandy's?

They do screen. It's not a thorough screen, IMO. I would say it is NOT comparable to UCSF/Vandy, especially numbers wise.

What I will say is that the interview invite is a HUGE screen in this case. Some schools hand them out to approx. 20-25% of applicants whereas loyola hands out 5-10%.

Also, for anyone who's interested, Loyola sent me a packet after receiving an interview invite that gives some admissions stats from last year. Last year around 515 received interviews and 362 were offered acceptances. This is from 5493 completed apps and around 10000 incomplete apps.

is loyola a highly ranked school? if it's really highly ranked, i don't think it'll be worth it for me.

can anyone share with me why they want to go to loyola? (basically, what makes loyola unique/awesome? please convince me to do the secondary)

i've completed 22 secondaries already, and i really don't want to write 7x25 lines worth of bs....

my stats are okay, i'm a reapplicant, i'm from california and don't have an overwhelming urge to leave...or to pay for a private school....oh and one more thing, i'm lazy =P

22 secondaries already? Can't you use some of your material to answer some of Loyola?

I just got the secondary. Did anyone else get a PDF attachment with the required mail in forms but all of it was upside down? Strange...

Yes mine was upside down too. I printed it out to read it.

just invited! anybody know if loyola has a student host program?

Does the 25 lines mean 25 lines in the print preview, or while you are entering the information?

There is like a 4 line difference for it.

Congrats on those who got invites! If you don't mind, would you post your stats? I'm reaaaaaaally anxious to hear back from them..I was complete on the 14th

Sorry if this has been asked already.. but how long after you mailed in the secondary did it take for them to complete you?

It took me about a week and a half to get the 'complete' e-mail.

Um does anyone know if we have to answer the "pre-med advisor" question? I have one, but she doesn't write any students letters so do I have to inform her about my application?

I was complete 7/24, instate, 38Q, 4.0.

But dont be alarmed, its not by stats or whatever, another kid got an interview and his stats are at the loyola average. Theyre looking for a "fit" wit their curriculum and standards. I wish you luck.

Sorry to ask again, does anyone know how to answer the "should we let ur advisor know the outcome". I don't have an advisor letter, so should i just say no, or would this reflect badly?

Also are most people typing up their PDF's?

Anyone know how many ppl are in the interview groups during the week, cause the interview packet said 20 for saturdays, Im assuming for other days its a relatively small interview group?

just got the secondary (that took forever). thinking more about their lack interest in their own md/phd i'm thinking of not applying. that and I saw the quote on the building this weekend driving home from the zoo (yup) and the wording and randomness made me laugh.

i just got mine and its not upside down but the application is really blurry. it looks like they printed and scanned it or something.

Any one else got blurry looking secondary
??

Sorry if this question was asked, but how long is the typical "due date" for this secondary? I've been sitting on it for awhile now and I don't want to pay the $75, only to see my due date has already passed. Thanks for anyone who answers!

loyola has a deadline of 4 weeks

Yes, the same thing happened to me. I think that they must have just not realized the problem untill they already had their whole secondary system set up and I bet that no applicant is going to be like, "hey Loyola, your app upside down and blurry." we are all just to happy to get it 🙂

this secondary is killing meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i thought i was finished only to find i have the same sentence for two different questions grrrrrrr coming up with new reasons why i wanna be a physician after 20+ secondaries :diebanana:

just sent in this beast today using express mail. hopefully it arrives by tomorrow at noon like the lady said because my four week deadline is next thursday. btw if anyone has any questions concerning the secondary i would call the admissions office. they are very helpful and nice 👍

I don't think it'd reflect badly, but can't you still put your advisor's contact info down anyway?

I didn't type up the PDF, it would've been too much of a pain. Just wrote it in. 🙂

i just put the adviser info in there since we have one but he doesn't write letters since he's affiliated with the career center at my school so i had to leave the advisor blank in the letter form..
