How would you rate the financial aid? Are merit scholarship extremely scarce? How did it compare to other schools' offers (if applicable)?

I have no basis for comparison to other schools because I never applied to them, but most of the aid is going to come predominantly in the form of loans (at loyola and most other schools, unless you're a superstar). I had a couple grants/scholarships in my first year but they weren't more than $5,000. we had a recent financial aid session where they told us that my class is graduating with average debt of 192,000 (not sure if that is combined with undergrad or not)

has this school been rejecting pre interview? how far are they along as far as the interviewing season and class size??

I got interviewed by a priest! Felt like I was in confession haha

hahaha that's awesome. Definitely would make you feel guilty if you lied about anything ("I just really want to help people" *struck by lightening*)

hey all,
I was wondering if anyone has sent/will send in a letter of interest after being waitlisted? I'm interviewed back in December and found out early January that I am an "alternate" ...does that mean waitlisted? or does Loyola have waitlisting AND alternate lists in case they go through the whole waitlist?

Loyola is one of my top choices and I'm really hoping to move myself off that list...does anyone know when a good time would be to send a LOI? They said when interviewing that sometime closer to the May 15th mark is good, but I'm not sure if before or after is better 😕
I'd appreciate any advice from those who might know!!! 🙂

Though I can't tell you based on experience or information directly from Loyola (not that they would really provide too much info anyway). I would think that sending it in a couple weeks before May 15th would be good and waiting till after would most likely be a bad idea.

Since May 15th is the big day where people with multiple acceptances are obligated to reduce to only one acceptance, there is typically ALOT of movement right after. Therefore, if I were you I'd want to give them a a couple weeks to receive the letter, read it, and decide whether or not they are going to move you up on the list, before spots open up.

Good luck 👍

Did you reply to the second look rsvp by e-mail or call them?
I'm not going to the second look weekend so I should probably tell them soon but can't find the more recent e-mail they sent out.
Thanks!

I was in the same situation. Interviewed 1/7, and then received the letter saying I was put on the waitlist. I sent a letter a couple weeks ago letting my interviewers know that Loyola was my number one school, and promising that I would attend Loyola if I were accepted. Both interviewers emailed back, and then one called me and told me he might be able to get me an acceptance in the next few days. Andd... I've officially been accepted today! I have no idea if this is typical, but writing the letter sooner rather than later definitely worked out for me 🙂

Congrats on the acceptance! Did you get a call?

After my interview, the Dean of Admissions came out and talked to me and the other student interviewing and mentioned that this past Monday (the 8th) would be a day that the adcom met. Did anyone else get a call? I did not, but I'm hoping for an acceptance letter (I remember reading in this forum that not everyone gets a call when they're accepted...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.)

and haven't received the call. I do remember the dean saying that though. I also haven't received anything in the mail but I live out west.

No call and nothing in the mail for me yet, either. Interviewed on 2/24. Here's hoping that we're all accepted and the dean is just too busy to call! :xf:

Called yesterday - bad news for me🙁 Good Luck to all of you!

Question: do we have to call to get the pre-interview rejection news? or do they periodically send emails/letters via snail mail to let us know?

I totally forgot to call yesterday but at this point I'm betting it's over for me. I'm not usually such a pessimist but even I realize my luck isn't that good this late in the season especially when the rate of new interviews is less than a trickle

maybe, maybe not. I called today to see what my status was because I wanted to know if I should still submit some new updates or if it would be pointless. I was told that as a pre-interview hold applicant I am still up for another review in the near future so I should go ahead and submit my updates. Just FYI and good luck! I really don't think I stand a chance still since I'm OOS yet I'm still gonna give it a shot.

I was told that they will send correspondence soon.

Yeah I don't think they're that good about their correspondence...I was supposed to receive either e-mail or snail mail notification that my app was complete and that I was put on pre-interview hold. Never got anything...had to call to find everything out. Even now if I had not called to ask about whether I was still on hold, I would not know what was going on with my app.

Hey guys,

In case anyone wanted to know, the next time the admissions committee meets is Monday, March 29th. I had my interview yesterday (3/12) and I was told that I would get some sort of answer that week.

Has anyone waiting on word from the 3/8 meeting heard anything?

I got a letter on Friday and I'm on the Alternate List...can't say I'm overly surprised. Here's to hoping that they reconsider on the 29th!

I was alternate listed as well a while ago. That was pretty tough, especially since loyola felt like such a perfect fit for me.
Are they really reconsidering alternates on the 29th? I was under the impression that we wouldn't here anything until at least late May...

Thanks for the info. I guess this will be my fate this week. Ah well. Here's hoping we get accepted!

Withdrew today.. really liked Loyola, but have decided to go with Iowa instead. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Im thinking that if I don't hear anything about an interview this week from loyola, I'm outta the game. I'll give em a call on Thursday to see if it's official yet but honestly, my luck this cycle doesn't make me think I'll be hearing any last minute good news. An interview here this late wouldn't even be a hail Mary pass, it'd be a hail Jesus!

I have got two restricted calls in the past week but obviously was unable to call them back because there was no number! I was just worried that I may have been a medical school as it seems that this school has be informing people by phone call. Might be a dumb question but to those that got called for an interview invite did they email you as well? Thanks

Hey Jimbo John,

Any time loyola has called me (including the interview), my caller ID showed it as a 708 number. After a little more searching, I matched this number with the main admissions office number. Hope that helps.

I assume they would leave you a message. it would seem awfully mean to not invite you unless you answered the phone when it was convenient for them. haha

Just to give everyone hope...
I was put on pre-interview hold, told that they would review my application again before the end of April (this was back in Feb). I called on Thurs and was told they were currently re-reviewing it. Just got the call for an interview - set up for 4/6! I'm really excited about this one!

would you mind posting your stats?

red10- i am in the same boat as you! my app is "flagged" and will be re-reviewed before april....i was also accepted to rosalind franklin and am attending there in the fall as of now. Getting an interview at Loyola would be awesome but in any case, my number 1 goal was to go to med school in chicago and that luckily happened for me! Good luck to you and hopefully we will be hearing something soon! 🙂 :luck:

That is what I was thinking. Thanks for the response! I didnt think much of it but when I was reading about how people were getting phone calls I began to get a little worried it was them lol. I was thinking if it was them they would at least leave a voice mail to. Well I guess Ill keep waiting!

Interviewed here yesterday. Loyola has a lot going for itself (facilities, community service, pleasant atmosphere, astounding gym). I especially liked the personal touch on the interview day. The Dean of Admissions made it a point to sit down with each applicant, after interviews, to ask "why Loyola?" and describe what happens from that point onward. It seems they intentionally schedule only a few applicants for each interview day. Looking forward to hearing back. The Dean also said my application would be reviewed on the 29th. Will hear back soon enough to make it for second visit, if accepted.

I, too, continue to be flagged for further review. Man I'd love an interview here!!

Just called and was told my file is up for its last review and if I'm granted an interview I'll hear by the end of April.🙄
I asked if she knew when specifically it would be reviewed (like at a meeting or something) and she said she didn't know.

I wish they would just put me out of my misery already:beat:

Hey all, I just received an interview invite for the 29th of March. I'm trying to figure out the logistics of travel and such. My interview is at 8:30 in the am, and I'm trying to get back home to Detroit by 5 or 6 pm via plane. Is Loyola just an interview and then I'm set to go or are there other things I need to go to (luncheon I heard?)

Thanks

Davesalle,

I started at 8:30 and was out by 1:30. There is a luncheon, but more of the problem is when your interviews are scheduled. Apparently they can be scheduled in any various combination throughout the day (each 1 hour long). I had the first two slots, then lunch, a tour and then was able to leave. Hope that helps!

This may be too late to help you, but I wouldn't count on having such a strict travel schedule. My 2nd interviewer got called into surgery and they had to rework my whole day on the fly. My first interview was pretty early and then my second got moved to 2 pm....I'd say your best bet is to keep you schedule flexible if possible.

Good luck!

From what someone posted earlier I believe there was an ad comm meeting today. Anyone hear anything?

is anyone calling today about their application status? i called two weeks ago and don't want to bother them again....

are they still sending interview invites? I have not heard anything or called the admin office in awhile and assumed I was denied but never thought that they might still be sending out invites? Anyone know?

I called this morning. I was told they are re-reviewing apps till the end of April, but if you haven't heard anything by April 15th that you are most likely getting a rejection letter. Good luck to you.

I was planning on sending my 1st letter of interest soon. I interviewed a while back and was put on the alternate list... any idea if this moves a lot? I kind of assume it does come May XX -- the date everyone chooses one school.

Thanks for the info. Good luck to those waiting to hear about interviews etc
