Same here. Feel like they had started interview invites earlier last year, because a dude in my lab had one already the first week of school (which would be next week, Tuesday to be exact). Oh well, in it 'til a No.

Yea...in fact, the first person to get an MD acceptance last year from my class got theirs from MSU-CHM. Too bad CHM could not be as quick as MSU-COM who is expected to be sending out acceptances within the next two weeks.

I guess not conducting interviews will speed up the process...

MSU-COM does not conduct interviews, which enables them to send out acceptances sooner...

Trust me its 1000% worse when eveyone in a thread is all happy and wishing each other goodluck on the interviews everyone is attending in a few days.... and you still haven't heard anything.

No one getting interviews is nice 🙂 ....for now

My status has not changed since 8/4 (from ". . . forwarded . . . for preliminary review . . ."). I'm still operating on the, "No news is good news," premise. Has anyone else heard anything from MSU CHM?

I also havn't changed. AFAIK, the only person who has gotten any update was the guy who posted that he was on hold a few weeks ago.
 
This entire process would be much less stressful if med schools gave applicants a specific timeline by which they would be hearing about a decision.

You could look on MDApps.com and look up whom MSU CHM has interviewed and accepted in recent years to compare your stats to those people's, but my understanding is that this may not be a completely balanced representation of this population. Your numbers sound good to me. I keep reading and hearing from people that MSU CHM is an institutions that is quite selective regarding candidates who fit the mission of the school and have demonstrated promise in this capacity. If your EC's show this, I would imagine you would be a great candidate.

Hey everyone! Here at MSU-CHM we've recently gotten the first list of dates for interviews this fall. The first one is the 17th. I'm not sure, but I'd guess that this date would be primarily for the EDP folks. Anyway, since the first dates are beginning in the next few weeks, I'd expect the first people to get invites soon.

This is quite exciting. I wish everyone the best of luck. I hope we will have the chance to meet in Fee Hall at MSU-CHM. Keep us posted. I hope to have the chance to do the same.

Hi Guys,
How closely does MSU actually monitor the Maximum Allowed Response Length on the essays? Can we go above the 1900 character limit?
 
To the point that it wont let you submit if you are over the limit.

It probably just means they have tons of apps and are going through each one carefully.

i got an invite for the 17th, but i am heading out of town and i asked them if i could call them back in literally 10 minutes to check i could find a flight to come on such short notice, and they said no! So now i am waiting for an e-mail to schedule my interview. Med schools require professionalism and timely responses from us, but do not hold themselves to the same standard.
 
Fadfaruq, your post is very confusing. Are you saying they will not let you reschedule? That seems odd. I know plenty of people who have been allowed to reschedule.

I had to move mine back, so I'm sure a few other people got invites today. Congrats.
 
congratulations to all of you who have interviews! I am still under review (3 weeks or so now). I have an invite at another MI school coming up and am kind of tempted to let MSU-CHM know I'll be in the area in case they want to meet me (which they do😀), but I don't want to be presumptuous. I know there are lots of threads on SDN discussing this issue, but has anyone done this wrt MSU? I certainly wouldn't mind making two trips to MI (I have family there) but it's always nice to save $ and to reduce the carbon footprint a bit...
 
It doesn't hurt to try. Just send a polite email mentioning that you'll be in the area on such and such a date will they have a chance to review your application before then, or something to that effect. I did this twice while applying and once (Univ. of Cincinnati) I got an interview invite an hour later for that date and the other (GW) I just got a 'We have a system, we will contact you if and when you are selected for an interview.' I didn't need to do it at MSU but, like I said - doesn't hurt to try.

And as for the AM and PM interviews you actually will see each other. The timeslots overlap a bit and you'll all eat lunch together. The difference is basically whether you interview before or after lunch.

Got an interview invite for the 27th!!! I feel Awesome.... although I have two acceptances.... this invite was very exciting!
