No, I am. Sixth one (I'm including holds in this--to me, there are only 3 categories: accept, waitlist and reject)

It's ok guys. Every rejection/waitlist is a blessing in disguise. You now have more direction in your life! (Unless you're still waiting for a first acceptance, then I'm pulling for you)

Thanks, this is so true. A different perspective. 🙂

This is my 3rd WL this week, though one came in the form of an interview in which I was going for a WL spot (which is kinda good I guess?)

Everything will work out, I hope 😉

Wait listed as well. Went to 6 interviews, accepted at my state school, WL'ed at 4, and 1 pending. Obviously am grateful to be accepted anywhere, but man this gets tiring after a while....

FWIW, my interview went amazingly, and I was told I'd be 'fine'. Just goes to show you that interviews are really little more than a 'part' of your application rather than a gamechanger. If your numbers aren't that high, it seems your interview performance is more about preventing a rejection rather than grabbing an acceptance, if that makes sense.

So does anyone know the real numbers. It seems that about 450 are ultimately accepted. So does that mean there really are 100+ people taken off of the waitlist? Or is the 40-50 number more accurate?

otal admissions data 7573 applied, 960 interviewed, 435 were accepted, 160 enrolled

Waitlisted. Pretty much expected it. It's better than a rejection, but I want to go to a school that actually wants me.

31 secondaries
7 interviews (one for waitlist spot)
2 waitlists
1 acceptance
-1 pending

Boy am I grateful for my acceptance! And like a previous poster said - for those of us who have acceptances elsewhere at least we have more direction for where we're going. For the rest of you - good luck and I definitely feel for you in this tiring and often unreasonable/illogical process. Ciao.

Did anyone receive a post-interview rejection? It seems everyone was either waitlisted post-interview or rejected pre-interview...

could someone give me the website for the status check?
thanks

wait list, interview 12/6

to check your status, go to their secondary application page. your status is at the top. from last year's posts, if you don't get an email, it's most likely a waitlist/rejection. email notifications for acceptances.

To all the waitlisters:

I got accepted here in December, but the chance that I am going to attend over my lower cost instate school is fairly low.

I think there will be plenty of movement on the NYU waitlist.

PS I think NYU is awesome. And I may end up there, who knows...but I do think that there will be lots of movement, so hang in there.

i'm trying to better understand the nature of the beast here...so don't take this the wrong way.

anyone know of getting rejected POST interview? i know that northwestern either accepts or waitlists. just wanted to get an idea if nyu was the same, and what our odds are for getting substantial waitlist movement.

wait list rejection right here....

er, sorry. i meant post interview

WL...🙁

This is getting really depressing.

Einstein was 4 years old before he could speak.

Iassc Newton did poorly in grade school and was considered "unpromising."

When Thomas Edison was a youngster, his teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. He was counseled to go into a field where he might succeed by virtue of his pleasant personality.

F.W. Woolworth got a job in a dry goods store when he was 21, but his boss would not permit him to wait on customers because he "didn't have enough sense to close a sale."

Michael Jordan was cut from his high school varsity basketball team.
Bob Cousy suffered the same fate, but he too is a Hall of Famer.

A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney because he "lacked imagination and had no original ideas."

Winston Churchill failed the 6th grade and had to repeat it because he did not complete the tests that were required for promotion.

Babe Ruth struck out 1,300 times, a major league record.

a bunch of medical schools have the arrogance to think they know how to judge people based on a 30 minute performance. Lets be real people, it happens 🙂

back to work...

Awesome. this is exactly what i needed. thank you. 🙂

hi

i can't find the website where i filled in my secondary. i guess if i haven't gotten an email it would mean i am wl or rejected. but i still want to check, could someone please post the website?

Rejected (no interview), as expected! Let the March Madness begin 😀

I haven't seen one person accepted from last night or this morning. Does this mean there was almost no movement from earlier acceptances? Hope not.

Waitlist... interviewed 12/13... blah.

I don't see any acceptances so far from the March 1st round of results...

To those who do get accepted this week...there is a webinar next Wednesday, March 10 from 6-7 PM EST for accepted applicants to discuss NYU, moving to NYC, life, curriculum, anything really. Just got an invitation and registered.

Waitlist us then invite us to a seminar where most of the students will be talking about moving there and attending the school. that's depressing.

LOL seriously.......both e-mails on the same day after months of not hearing from them...i was hoping the second e-mail was them telling me that they accidentally sent the wrong e-mail to me earlier this morning and that i was actually accepted...

and this sentence bothers me for some reason: "Because of your outstanding record and achievements, you have been placed on the waiting list for admission"

seems like everyone who was not accepted post-interview and their mothers have been placed on the NYU waitlist lol

Should be an interesting Webinar though. I am definitely gonna sign up for it. I am 80% sure I am going to attend NYU. The other 20% of me is still thinking about GTown (closer to home), Sinai (where I interviewed last month and havent heard yet) and Maryland (which will be much cheaper). I am especially interested in hearing about the housing changes because that was the one thing that NYU had going against it from my perspective. Just curious what schools others may be passing on in favor of NYU and why. 🙄

I'm having a tough time deciding between NYU and Sinai. Between this webinar and Sinai 2nd look weekend, I hope to figure it out. They seemed very similar to me on interview days - this housing change is a big ++ in favor of NYU, I really didn't dig Rubin. I liked Sinai's emphasis on community health and the general good vibes I got from current students I met there. I'm going to have a really tough time choosing one over the other.

I'm making a similar decision right now, although I'm leaning Sinai.

before I heard from WashU, I was leaning for NYU over Sinai, Northwestern, and Tufts...I really liked Northwestern, but I wasn't sure the difference between NYU and Northwestern was enough to merit going far from home for another four years. I honestly don't know what the obsession is with Sinai though-if I had those 2 schools to choose I'd go NYU for sure. Now that WashU is in the game, its going to be tough choices coming up :/ merit scholarships can always change the game though 😉

Does anyone have any stats on how many interviewees are rejected? It looks like everyone who interviewed was wait listed. If this is the case, what percent of the wait list moves?

The two biggest reasons I am leaning NYU and away from Gtown is the fact that NYU is pass/fail the first two years and that its hospitals are awesome.
Plus, living in NYC has got to be pretty great even as a med student.
I kind of found Sinai to be pretty much identical to NYU...and I think I would be happy there too if I were to get in. But I kind of liked the NYU neighborhood better. We shall see.

I'm an MSTP'er who was waitlisted about two weeks ago, I received a 2nd look invite but nothing about the webinar.

Someone wanna send me the link?

Second that question; When is second look?
Tentatively scheduled for April 23rd and 24th. Don't ask me how i know. I just know from insiders . It's not been finalized/made official yet. During the webinar thingy, you can ask this question

Does anybody know when we'll be receiving our financial aid offer? I submitted my fafsa a month ago. Also, do we have to submit any other financial documents besides the fafsa? (they said they also wanted our and our parents tax return copies, but that's not until after they sent us financial aid offers).

Ditto, no interview, rejected, eh I'll get over it...

I'm gonna miss NYU, and this was my dream to stay connected with NYU, but I guess it's farewell! To all those accepted, NYC is amazing, and NYU Langone Medical Center is incredible. I worked in the School of Medicine and the ER for the longest time, and the hospital is just amazing. Enjoy!

so was no one on SDN accepted this week?!? that's just cuh-razy...

but my host told me not to worry about the waitlist because apparently a LOT of people get off it.

patience is a virtue I suppose...

Well that's good to hear. Honestly a waitlist is a lot better than a rejection since we still have a chance. maybe since there are not many acceptances (at least recently) they are being more cautious with accepting to make sure they don't overfill the class? In any case I hope the waitlist doesn't take forever to move. Hopefully by at least May it's moved a bit since I want to start making plans early about where I'm moving and apartments, etc.

I'm skeptical as to how many really make it off the waitlist, being that NYU's high demand. I'm thinking he said that to calm your nerves.

My guess is that NYU has heavy waitlist movement is because many of those accepted to NYU are also accepted to Sinai, Cornell, Columbia, etc.
