Congrats to those accepted. Mine still says "correspondence mailed". Im just hoping for a waitlist.

Congratulations! I guess this means I'm left out in the cold, as you interviewed a week after me, and my status remains unchanged. 🙁
Good luck!

Hmm and we had the same interviewer? Yea I don't know. It seems applicants aren't necessarily notified in the order they were interviewed though. I wouldn't give up hope. 🙂 No news is just that. Try not to read too much into it. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll try. Luckily, I have anatomy to study to get my mind off of it. I had Dr. R, female, and I'm assuming that is also who you had.

when are we able to find out where we stand on the waitlist?

For those who have interviewed, does your status change to an "Interview Complete" or something like that after you interview? I interviewed in mid/late Jan and it still says "Interview Scheduled."

Yes it changes to "Interview Complete". I think mine changed a few days after I interviewed. You could always call the office to see what's up.

Is Temple closed because of the snow? I've been calling admissions all day and there is no response.

I just got to say canceling one day before your interview is extremely poor form and it doesn't actually help anyone out since they can't just invite someone that same day and have them come on the 9th. Congrats on your acceptance but you should try to be more considerate next time. Especially if you knew you weren't going to go in the first place. I just think that is proper etiquette.

actually bubba this is how i got an interview at a different school...they called me the day before and asked if i could come out for an interview. guess what...i was accepted. so at least there's a chance that it could help someone😉

Is anyone still waiting to hear from TUSM? I sent in my app end of Sept? I'm a PA resident with temple avg stats. I was really expecting to hear something by now....I've sent a few updates🙁

I didn't say it was not possible to help someone. But the likely hood of it doing that is very rare. Because I'm not sure everyone can come to an interview with a one day notice. Either way that was not my point. It was not about if he could help someone or not it was the fact that he knew he was not going to the interview and waited until the day before to cancel his interview. Someone did something similar at a UMich interview and the director of admission was livid. There is so much that goes into inviting someone for an interview and the least we can do as candidates is notify them appropriately. Lets say a week notice minmum although I'm sure 2 weeks isn't asking too much either. I considered not going to my Temple interview and if I withdrew it would have been with ample time for them to invite another candidate and I wouldn't just sit on my invite until the last moment to call the office to let them know I will not be attending.

I just think it is proper profesional courtesy. I may be wrong or alone on this but that is what I was taught and actually reinforced by my pre-med advisors at my undergrad.

To each his own.

are you able to get in state residency here after a year?
edit: looks like you are stuck as a non-resident if you come from out of state.

Top choice.....Accepted!
In state, complete 9/30/09, Interview 1/14/10/ Accepted 2/12/10.
What a weekend...😀

congrats to all those accepted!

Does anyone know if Temple has a second look date?

Anyone that was accepted ~ 1 week ago, have you gotten your snail mail acceptance letter?

This was asked previously but never answered:

Does Temple release the ranking of their waitlist?

I'm guessing no. (Or maybe they don't rank it) Thanks 👍

Interested to know the answer to this question as well...

They had a second look last year (and years before) so I'd assume they will have one this year...

They do rank by 1/3's, but they don't release the list until may-ish (I think)

I have my interview here on Thursday. I'm staying at a hotel near the airport. Anyone have any suggestions on the easiest/quickest way to get from the airport area to the school? I've looked at the SEPTA site to see if I could figure it out, but that just confused the hell out of me. I'm a small town girl who's never used a subway/train/taxi before, so I'm slightly concerned...sheltered, I know. lol

I grew up in a small town so I used to share your fears. I suggest you take a taxi. It's as easy as calling the company and giving your address/hotel name. It will definitely be more expensive ($40 one-way), but I don't think you want the stress of figuring out a transit times/locations when you should be focused on an interview.

Just take a taxi. In my opinion, the extra cost is worth being less stressed the morning of your interview. Most hotels will either call a taxi for you (just call the front desk about 30 minutes before you need to leave) or provide you with the number of a local cab company.

Thanks for the replies! I was leaning towards taking a taxi, but the extreme price difference kinda held me back. I'll just do the taxi thing though, it will definitely make my morning much less stressful, and I won't have to worry about walking anywhere in the snow - big plus because I've never been in snow and would probably bust my ass if I had to walk too far in it!

Hey Allie,
There is a few ways to get up to school:
-Of course you can take the taxi all the way up, this will be be your most expensive option.
-Cheapest option is SEPTA. From the airport you can take the R1 train into center city. You will get off at Suburban Station and transfer there to the Broad Street subway line going northbound, there are two trains going north, the local and express (both will take you to Erie). Get off at Erie station and you will be able to see the school and hospital on Broad St. Just ask people to make sure you are on the right train, though some people are not always too friendly, you can get an anwer.
-Or you can do a mixture of both....R1 to center city then grab a taxi, or taxi to center city then hop on the subway.

Good Luck!!!

I got wait listed 😀😀 yay!! Just got the envelope in the mail; I am happy because I still have a chance here.

i got the waitlist as well...or, as they call it, the "continuing candidates" list 🙂

I was recently accepted into Temple's Medical school and was wondering if any current Temple students could help me decide whether I should look for apartments in the city or in the suburbs? Thanks.

Does anyone know if/when Temple's financial aid forms need to be filled out? Also, do they offer merit-based scholarships?

not a temple student yet, but from what i hear students either live center city/museum of art area or in suburbs (manayunk)

You will get more answers if you post in the school specific discussions, probably more relevant answers if you go to the Allo board and ask the current students there.

Do they not offer student housing for the medical students? I honestly don't know. You definitely don't want to live right AROUND Temple. The Temple campus itself is safe and lit at all hours, but the neighborhood is like a demilitarized zone. Main campus is really bad and, IMO, around the medical campus isn't much better.

I've only filled out the FAFSA, did you receive forms from Temples Financial Aid office?

Just got an email saying it will be Friday 3/26

In terms of dress, are most people thinking casual? I was considering green man...

Nope, and the area around campus isn't as Wild West as you make it out to be, either. Sure, campus isn't in the best part of Philadelphia, but just because it isn't the nicest area to look at off-campus doesn't mean that it's a war zone. Keep your head on straight and you shouldn't have any problems; you really only find yourself in trouble if you look for it.

That being said, most of the students I know live either in Center City or the suburb areas out in East Falls/Manayunk/Roxborough. I personally live in the 'burbs, but where you live really depends on what kind of lifestyle you're looking to have when you get here.
