Just got accepted here! Very excited. Interviewed 1/13.

😱😱😱 I interviewed on 1/6 and haven't heard back yet. How's that possible? Congratulations by the way!!😀

I interviewed the day after you, and haven't heard anything either. It depends on your faculty interviewer, and when they want to attend the adcom meeting.

Did they tell you that you'll hear something before the end of this month? That's what we were told; so I'm refreshing temple med every few minutes. Temple is my absolute number 1 choice. Oh God, I want an acceptance like right now!:xf:

They told us that the Thursday faculty interviewers were a bit slow, so there's a low probability of hearing before the end of January. Also, from what I've read, the adcom meets every Friday, and people typically find out their status the Monday after the student is presented.
Temple is also my number one choice, but I'm praying to Obama rather than God.

For those accepted via status page, does it say which clinical site they've placed you?

Is the student actually present when the committee makes the decision or the student only submits a report? I hope the student is present cuz i m pretty sure she like me.

From what they told us, the student only submits a report and is not present when decisions are made.

The clinical site is not mentioned on the status page, only in the acceptance letter.

is it weird that my letter doesn't give me my clinical site? it only says something about doing my clinical work at temple or one of its other clinical sites

That is strange. I would call admissions if I were you. The woman in charge of clinical placement is named Maria. She will be out of the office until thursday. I called today because I'm trying to change my clinical site from St. Lukes to Temple Hospital.

I should probably know this by now...but when accepted, do you have to put in a deposit within a certain period of time or is the deposit not due till May 15th? And is this common for most schools?

Thanks!

For any of you guys who sent updates via "send us stuff" tab...did you ever recieve a confirmation or response? I sent it over winter break and I have no idea if it helped or was even read....

I sent materials via both email and the "send us stuff" tab. No response or confirmation for either. *shrug*

Yes. I received my interview invite around 12/22, and there was nothing open till march 4th. I called and they put me on that list. On Jan. 8th they called me telling me a spot opened for Jan 13th. Now I am waiting for my decision

Anyone have Dr. Malmud as their interviewer?
If so..what'd you think?

I thought he was a very pleasant guy who did not ask the typical "why do you want to be a doctor?" questions.

still no change from my "interview complete" status! i interviewed 12/16...my faculty interviewer must be slow 🙂

I had him as well. We had a good convo and he really likes the "Where will you be in 10+ years question" and he didn't like that I would not pick a specific specialty since I stated I haven't been exposed to a majority of them as of yet and cannot mentally commit to a specialty.

I had Dr. Wolfson. She was a very nice lady and I thought the interview went well. Guess we will see when I get my decision

was anyone here interviewed with a lady. did not smile throughout. asked u 2 question and interview was over. i dont want to name the lady for privacy. But anyone else went through experience similar to this and were u accepted?

I went back and read some of your previous posts.. especially the one about your "interview nightmare" at Temple, and to put it bluntly, your posts rub me the wrong way. 🙄 But I'm going to give you a bit of advice that will hopefully help you in future interviews, jobs, or just life in general -- Try to put yourself in your interviewer's shoes. She's obviously a busy lady, has numerous interviews lined up that day, perhaps she only got 4 hours of sleep last night or didn't have time to eat breakfast.. maybe she has family problems or work problems or what-have-you to deal with as well. She sits down, goes over your application (one of many), brings you in.. and rather than chit-chat about "why you want to be a doctor" or "tell me about your family" or other typical fluff questions, she gets right down to the point and asks you about weaknesses that she sees in your application. After all, she has to represent you in front of the admissions committee. She knows that they're going to see the same flaws in your application and she's going to have to be able to tell them why you'd be a good fit for the school despite them. This was your chance to help her sell you to the acdom.. to show that even though you lacked the right EC's or whatever else, that YOU are qualified to be there.

I know what you went through because I interviewed with the same woman. She didn't smile at me either or ask me fluff questions. She was very blunt and to the point.. so much so that the entire interview only lasted 20 minutes. And you know what? It did throw me off at first, but I adapted. I answered her truthfully, and in the end when she asked if I had any questions, I asked her point blank if there was anything else in my application she wanted to address. And she said that I was able to articulately clear up her concerns and that she thought I was a good fit at Temple and that she enjoyed talking to me.

You are going to have to work with all kinds of different personalities in med school, during residency, and as a physician. If you can't adapt and be able to see where others are coming from, you're going to have a pretty hard time over the next 6-8 years.

When I interviewed in September, I had a great experience. Ended up talking to my faculty interviewer for an hour and a half (for a 30 min interview), but only talked to my student interviewer for 20 min. I'm sorry some of you guys didn't have as great an experience. Still loved the school and was estatic when accepted on Oct. 15.

Two questions: Does anyone know when second look is?
Is there any one who comes from a western state (particularly one that isn't California) who goes to Temple/is probably going to Temple? I want to know what its like moving from the West to the East...

I had the same interviewer, and it caught me off guard as well...She didn't seem to have any concerns with my application, which may be good or bad....😕 I was out of her office in 15 minutes flat 🙁

If you don't mind me asking, did you end up getting accepted or are you still waiting?

I'm still waiting on results. But even if I get waitlisted or rejected, I wouldn't blame it on the interview. Although brief, it was obvious she had gone over my file and was just asking about specific things she still was unsure about. I will post about my status when I find out (hopefully soon). Were you accepted or are you waiting too?

I am still waiting as well....It has been ~3 weeks since my interview, so I'm hoping to find out on Monday whether I made it. I can't bear to wait another week.

Generally, the interviewer agreed with what I was saying, and my application is otherwise solid, so I shall remain hopeful.

Woooow like seriously u just copied and pasted that whole paragraph from that interview tips article about putting ur self in interviewer shoes and pretended like it is ur sage advice. i seriously loled. + in that post i never said it was at temple university and u r still assuming it. i can just finish this post and laugh at u for being a ***** but i wont do that.

SO yea u did guess it right. the post was abt this particular interview. she asked me like 2 or 3 questions and they were all negative. my application is not great. i like decided to b a doctor during like junior year in spring. rushed to take mcat rushed with everything and i m senior right now. good mcat and decent mcat of 31 is pretty much rolling for me. and its harder for me 2 pretend like i always wanted to b a doctor since i was like 12 and then explain why i have low medical exposure. i cant say i woke up last summer and wanted 2 b a doctor. No admission committe want to hear the truth. and then ur bombarded with more negative question thats fine. but when u dont get an opportunity to show ur self in a positive way and all the things u wanted to say abt ur self it pisses u off. that post i made was a mistake. it didnt came out sounding right. and u cant base ur judgment on my ability to adapt in next 6 -8 years based on a post u read.

anyways i kno some of the anger is coming from above comment i made about me being lonely. lol i prolly shoulda neva said that my fault lol

Hmm, ok. Not sure what article you're referring to, and I'm also not sure how you can call me a ***** since I obviously made a correct assumption. 😉 Anyways, forget I said anything. I meant to give constructive advice, but it's obviously being misconstrued and just making you defensive. Please keep us posted whenever you end up getting your results from Temple. Thanks.

I think i meant that i could have easily lied and in front of everyone u would look like an idiot. but anyways becasue she said to u u would b a nice fit for temple means u r prolly goin to be accepted. and makes me more nervous because i was basically kicked out haha lol

I Interviewed the same day too but haven't heard yet. I think I know who you are, but hey being on the waitlist is better than being rejected. 😀

also, do they accept updates pre interview on what we have been doing etc?

With ya and felt the same way about the interviews. Temple has a lot of WL movement come May though so definitely try to stay positive. 🙂

Pretty sure they take updates. You can try sending it using the "Send us Stuff" tab on the secondary web site.

Been complete since early October and have been under review ever since. Any idea whats going on? Is a 3+ month wait considered standard for a response from TUSOM?

[UNDER REVIEW] taunts me...

I'm in the same boat.😳

Do results typically come out on Mondays? Or does it vary?

Either way, looks like it's more waiting for me too. 🙁

No news for me, sadly. Interviewed 1/7.

Anyone else?
nothing here either, and i interviewed on 12/16. i called admissions this morning and was told that for some reason there is still no decision on my file, and when there is it will be posted to my status page. the woman also told me that if my file was presented at their meeting this past friday, then my status page should be updated this week. so it looks like they make a decision as soon as they discuss you at one of their meetings, which take place on fridays, and then you are notified sometime during the following week.

Thanks for the info yasminc. I hope you get your results soon. You've been waiting for quite a bit longer than the rest of us.
