Yay I hope I get to meet you too! I want to meet everyone on student doctor 🙂

We had pre-matriculation get togethers at J Clyde last year. They are really receptive to letting people reserve the back patio so if you guys can get enough people through SDN, Facebook, etc... you should get something together for those already in town. I know that it was nice walking into a huge lecture room and knowing a few people.

Weren't u the other person that was handed their acceptance letter in person? I was too...wow Dr. Smith told me it was the 2nd time it happened.

Congrats BrownSpice! I probably would've cried tears of joy if they personally handed me my acceptance letter last year. Or maybe I could have held back until I got out the door.. ha.. Anyways, good luck and enjoy the last couple of weeks!

Thanks UABpeds! Believe me, it was hard not to cry those tears of joy when he gave me the letter. It was funny because he asked me what I was doing this year in my time off and so I thought it was a normal appointment. Then he took out the acceptance letter that he hid underneath my file. I was speechless...and then he said to just enjoy the moment. 😀

I dusted off my application over the weekend... so depressing... Who's ready for another round?! Class of 2015 anyone? 😛

Still holding out a faint hope for this year but I did already put my application in for next year. I talked to someone who would know and they said the waitlist is still moving slighty, but I'm still not going to count on getting in.

I really hope both of you hear something, but I was in the same boat last year. I think I finally got around to submitting my app sometime around mid July. There are still a little over 2 weeks left until orientation. And now that I think about it, that kind of freaks me out. :scared:

I bet it's especially hard right now since the waitlist has moved so far already, making it utterly plausible that an acceptance can come your way. Best of luck.

BTW did any rejects like me ever get interview feedback? I know some wait-listees (and some now-acceptees) have done so, and I was just wondering since Nathan Smith said he would get on it ASAP.

I have already gotten accepted to South, I just really would like to know why UAB wouldn't even consider me for the waitlist (considering how well the interviews went, especially).

I think you have to call to set up an interview appointment. I'm not sure if they would give you one though, knowing that you've already been accepted elsewhere. I think they really only do feedback for those who are going to apply again. You might be able to call and ask if you're really that curious though. Best of luck at South.

I requested feedback via email and received it a week or 2 ago.

Last year someone got accepted the second day of Orientation. But that was because something happened to the person being replaced. So anything is possible!

When I called they told me there weren't anymore opening for face-to-face feedback. So, I requested e-mail. That was back in May and I still haven't gotten anything.

They should email you within a week or so...or atleast they did for me when I asked them what they liked about my application. I think they're just really busy trying to get everything together to close the application cycle.

I'm excited and freaking out at the same time. We have about a week left until orientation. And I still haven't signed my lease to get the apartment I want.

I withdrew my acceptance to UAB today and will be attending South Alabama. Dr. Smith did tell me the class has stabilized and they don't expect any more significant movement in the waitlist, but hopefully one of y'all will get this spot. Good Luck!

thank you so much. i talked to dr. smith last wednesday and at that point i wasn't the next person on the list, but he said i was very close. so unless somebody else has dropped since then, i won't get your spot, but it does move me one closer, which is very good. there's always a chance somebody shows up at orientation and just decides it isn't what they want to do or where they want to go so i'm still in the hunt and this could help a lot. thank you.

You are welcome! Glad my spot went to someone on sdn. Good luck!

In case anyone was curious... They sent out the official rejection letters to those of us left on the waitlist.

"This year 2410 students applied, 405 were interviewed and 265 acceptances were offered to fill the 176 positions. Of the 98 students placed on the alternate list, 68 were offered a position at UASOM and 8 of the remaining alternates were accepted elsewhere."

Here's hoping to next year!! :luck:
