Is there an overnight program, or alternately, how possible is it to fly in and fly out on the same day. I'm in So Cal. so its a 2hr flight or something to Sacramento.

Also, whats the best (cheapest) way to get there and which of Sacramento's airports should I fly into?

Sac International, it's only a one hour flight. You could do it all in the same day.

Reading this thread makes me depressed. Still holdin out hope for an interview.

hey i interviewed here on the first or second day of interviews and for everybody else who interviewed then, do you remember when they'll let us know? one of the people during the info session said Oct 15th, while the other said 6 weeks. i'm wondering if i should expect them to get back to me this thursday or not

thanks!

I think you'll hear back. I interviewed several weeks after you and they said they were prepared to hand out their first acceptances on Oct 15th or 16th, whichever was the legal day. good luck...wasn't this a really neat school?

Do you know how Davis lets people know they're in (or rejected)

Email?
Phone call?
Snail mail? (hope its not this one)

Anyone know how many they interview v. how many get accepted?

yah its only like a 35% acceptance rate..they gave us the numbers i can dig them up somewhere if needed...but its not good at all. And they have to probably shrink class sizes this year making it more competitive.

I wish I had interviewed earlier, this is my top top choice school. I interviewed on sept 29th, probably wont here anything until december, or late november.

4861 applied, 470 interviewed, 229 were accepted, 105 enrolled

it's about a 50% acceptance

the problem with that is due to budget cuts, the number enrolled is dropping to 93 possibly. The dean said he wont even know until sometimes next year or so. But as fo now they are assuming 93 spots only...and only 78/93 are MD spots as others are MSTP and rural prime. So they interview about 400-450 this year is the plan. They expect to offer 178-200 spots or so to fill the class (this is what they did last year). So basically there are 400-450 interviews for 78 spots.

the numbers you posted are a bit off for this year and what they plan to do.

I called today at 3:30 and the lady said if I hadn't been contacted then a decision hasn't been made about my application.... 🙁

I've been waiting by the phone / checking my email all day haha.

Anyone who interviewed Oct 15th heard back yet?

u mean sept 15th? As oct 15th is today............lol.

i interviewed 9/23 and i was told i wouldnt hear back till late nov. Id assume late oct or early nov for you since you were i think one week earlier?

that's weird, i interviewed on the 15th i think and thought they said they'd tell us on oct 15th. but i also think somebody else said in six weeks (which would be end of october) i guess i should stop worrying about today then

the interview feedback section suggests they really do take their time getting back to you, so 6-8 weeks is probably a reality. I'm guessing the only people who heard back today were from the first week or so.

Yeah I remember being confused about that when they said it....haha

And yes, I did mean to say those that interviewed Sept 15th lol

So frustrating...

good luck

I think we have a good chance at hearing something tomorrow.

i interviewed sept 9 and haven't heard anything either ... bummer 🙁

good luck to you all! update us all if anyone hears anything in the next few days!

has anyone invited for an interview STILL not able to sign up for a date? it's been almost four weeks and i check almost every day. i called once last week and the lady said to just keep waiting........

I was in the same boat until 2 secs ago, when I checked randomly and dates were up for January. You should check again now.

Just registered for January 14, very excited. I didn't see any info about overnight stays or anything, does anyone have a link. I rather stay with a student than a hotel.

Ya it's been sporadic with me. Try using a different browser perhaps? It hasn't really worked for me on Chrome but has been w/Firefox.

Oh cool I just registered for that exact same date.

It seemed to work for me using Chrome (but never when there were actual dates). I ended up accidentally seeing the dates while I was in the library on their computers, using Firefox.

For those that have interviewed at UCD thus far:

(1) Is there still a "group interview"? I read on the feedback forum that there is an impromptu question/answer session.

(2) What kinds of questions did you get? Anything adversarial? Health debates? Life in general?

I have read the feedback forum, but wanted to get a better lay of the land prior to my interview which is this upcoming week. So far, it seems that the interviewers are pretty laid-back. Good luck guys.

It's probably easier just to drive. It's a straight shot up 99.

1) yes there is that.

2) nothing hard just tell me about yourself, why meidicne, etc the normal everyday questiosn that people ask. Its nothing tough and its meant to be a very nice relaxing time where you get to know more about your fellow applicants that day

so did most of you just rent a car instead of taking public transportation or a taxi from the airport?

I was thinking about staying with a friend in Davis then driving to Sacramento in the morning , do you think this is a bad idea? Thanks

Just make sure you allow enough time for work traffic.

OMG! I just got an interview invite from Davis! Weird they email on a Sunday! I'm really surprised since I only had 1 interview so far (and I'm complete mostly in Aug) and I'm below average at Davis. Not minority or disadvantaged. Me: 30P, 3.6.

Guess you never know what'll happen! Good luck to everyone!

What kind of group interview is it? 1 applicant with a panel of interviewers or several applicants with 1 interviewer?
What do you mean by an impromptu Q & A session?
Sorry, where is the student host list? I don't see it on the application portal. Sorry if my questions are repetitive.

Oh no, I get unnerved much more easily in a group. One-on-one interview I really don't get nervous after 5 min.

Is there just 1 or 2 interview? Open or closed file? with faculty or student? Thank you guys!

2 interviews. they are one on one with a faculty and student. Its a group interview where 5-6 of you or so will sit in a round table while the dean or a faculty member goes around the room asking the same question to everyone. It was unerving a bit but oh well. Student hosts lists should be emailed to you as u get closer to the interview day. They are open file

Thank you Elijah05! Is it 3 interviews total then? 1 with faculty (1-on-1), 1 with student (1-on-1), and a group interview with the dean?

Congrats! By impromptu, I just meant that there are going to be some off-the-cuff questions that are probably difficult to prepare for, but I think delivery is probably more important than content.

I think I also got my interview invite on a Sunday! What a gift, huh?

Did you get opinion questions or questions about your background? Both? I figure I am just going to practice not looking cocky no matter how much my brain tells me that other people are doing better than me. I don't want to be "that guy" 🙄

for the group one? honestly the group interview isnt even an interview, its nothing to worry about its just a nice causual conversation. You talk about yourself, background, why medicine, other things. Seriously dont even stress over it, its nice and easy. At least for me there was no opinion of ethical things, just really a big long tell me about yourself type question. It may also not be with the dean it depends. On our day the dean was gone or whoeevr was supposed to do it so a faculty did it.

calling it a "group interview" is kinda misleading as its not really an interview, at least not in the way you are probably thinking. But to answer yes that is basically the format. Read what i wrote above its pretty casual. If you cant talk ahout yourself, your background, why medicine, and other simple things easily then worry...if you have any ounce of social skills its nothing to fret over 😉.

has anyone heard back post interview yet besides caligirl? waiting = sucks.

early interviewee here (sep). did they send out any rejections?

I interviewed on Sep 11th, but still haven't heard anything. Does a longer wait time mean less of a chance of acceptance?
