Wow, UCSF's doing everything much earlier this year! I submitted as early as possible and I was complete on 8/22 last year...

soo..... any more secondary invites? i was received on 7/11. 😕

Any OOSer whose application was received on 7/1 without a secondary?

I want my secondary 🙁

Any OOSers receive it recently?

I'm a bit frustrated..

I got this secondary recently. My primary was verified over a month ago. Like others have said, don't lose hope if you don't have it.

Hello!

Just wondering, did anyone send in the optional photograph with their secondary? Do you think this matters, or can help/hurt?

LAman10,

I got a secondary invitation and I am an OOS. Please be patient; UCSF carefully evaluates your application and that means, you will not be forgotten.

Good luck to you and everyone else!

the way i think of it, adding a picture can only help you. I would like to believe that i have a likable face and look friendly and hopefully someone will see my picture and want to meet me.

haha yeah I know they'll get to it eventually. Only thing is I don't have my LORs in right now, which means none of my schools have really been able to review my app, so I'm dying to know how my app looks in the eyes of adcoms and I'm relying on the schools that do a legit screening (in my case, UCSF and Vanderbilt) to give me an idea of how strong my app is or if I need to start adding more schools. Thus far, I haven't heard from either of them -__- but it's all good

vandy and UCSF are some of the top schools in the country, I dont think hearing nothing from them means much as far as getting in or the legitimacy of your app...unless you want to be in the top 5-10% of all applications, becusae those are typically the people who get into schools like that. People that just are so amazing its ridiculous whether that be stats, ECs, or both.

so does anyone know any sort of breakdown of what % of OOS that cops a secondary gets an interview?

i know overall its 25% gets secondary, 33% of that gets an interview ~ 50% of interviewees get acceptance.

I'm really looking at a 1/6 chance here. which i guess is a bit higher than the 4% chance you get from applying to another school (like FIU which costs the same amount of money w/ the primary + secondary)

i just don't like mailing stuff. if it was payable by credit card. i would have been totally down. hate going to the mailbox.

hey guys. for those who did a composite letter, what did you put for the letter writers' names? did you only write the composite writers name? or all the included letters?

Dear UCSF,
I was really counting on you out of all the UC's to show me some love this cycle (i still do)! so please kindly read through my application and send me a secondary and i assure you that you will not regret it!

Sincerely,
Mee 😀

:xf::xf:

Does this letter thing work? I'll give it a try...

Dear UCSF, you are the last and only school that hasn't given me a secondary! I know I probably won't get in... but I would like to at least try! I love san franciscoooo.... love love love

how did people fill out the secondary? like put X's next to the choices or delete the things that didn't pertain to them? i.e. "PROGRAM(S) FOR WHICH I WISH TO APPLY:"

Keep your fingers crossed!! 🙂

I'm really looking forward to potentially meeting some of you when you come to interview 🙂

click on the box (either form) and it should check it.

nope opened it in Word too. no box.

FYI...(i know it's a tad early for this...)

Regarding student hosting for interviews:

The website indicates that hosting is for those who live more than 100 miles away, but the reality is that even local applicants should request a student host if they would like one. If there are enough hosts available, local students will be hosted too 🙂

I highly encourage interviewees to request student hosts because you'll get to meet some current students, ask them questions, etc. It makes for a more fun experience than staying at a hotel room by yourself.

i still haven't gotten a secondary from ucsf and they got my app on 7/26. i'm in state, 3.7+ 39+, i thought i would get an automatic secondary (shows what i know). did anybody who was verified after 7/26 get a non-automated secondary? i was wondering if maybe they were taking their time looking at the apps that didn't get an automatic one

just a quick double-check to ease my mind, are there any "science vs non-science" restrictions on the 2 "instructor" letters? my second science letter is most likely one of my weaker ones and so i'd love to sub in my non-science letter for a total of 1 science, 1 non-science, 1 pi and 2 from my extra currics.

this whole process is messing with my nerves!

nope opened it in Word too. no box.

When I opened the secondary on a mac in Word and in textedit, there was no box. When I went home and opened the secondary in textedit AND Word on a PC, there were boxes- I just clicked on the box and it automatically put an X in the box. I don't know if that was a coincidence, but maybe try a PC, or a different computer.

SF is notoriously known for taking awhile to look at your entire application. I wouldn't expect one so soon since they have piles to go through. Besides, your stats guarantee you acceptance to top schools. Good job.

just got it!!! at 9:30 pm wth? lol. i never thought i would even get this far! wow, this is amazing. i dont htink ill get an interview but this is a great honor none the less.

amcas received:7/7

What kind of attitude is that?? You don't pay the secondary fee just because it's "an honor." You pay the secondary fee so you can get that interview!! Optimism and confidence 👍

Am i the only one who checks their spam folder to see if the secondary was mistakenly sent there? 🙁

In-state, received the acknowledgment from them on 7/26. I was getting anxious since I've got the secondary for all the other UCs I've applied to, but seeing other people who have been received much earlier, I guess I should go back to patiently waiting. Is their screen by stats only or do they actually review our application?

i believe it's both. some get auto secondaries, where the secondary comes basically within a day of the acknowledgement., which most likely relies heavily on stats. others get secondaries a couple weeks to months later, and those were probably more carefully reviewed.

Yes maam! *salutes* lol. Na, but really, thanks for the encouragement! Ah, my hometown, where my heart and soul rests. I shall do my best! even though I have a fee waiver lol.

and keep your heads up everyone. its not entirely based on numbers since im c/sGPA: 3.7, MCAT: 31M

guess if u show the yay ( aka bay) area some love, it just might be returned.

Hi,

If I received an email from UCSF on July 8 telling me that my file is ready to be review and they will let me know if they would give me the secondary invite, and I haven't heard back from it by now, should I assume that they've already rejected me silently?

-longhorn09

no, esp since you are OOS

they got mine on like early july and i got the secondary early august
