waaaaaaaaaaaaaaait. is the "secondary received" date different than the complete date?? i thought they were the same, but reading over the description now i'm not sure. if it's different, about how long did it take to go from "secondary received" to complete?

Does anyone know if it's appropriate to put a SMALL blurb about how I'd cut off one of my legs to go to UCSF? No, but really, more about my commitment to the SF Bay Area (I'm a native) and my connections to the community and the school? I'm thinking 3 sentences, tops. I need to update them on my activities (got a full time job) and last quarter's grades (an A+! Woohoo!!) anyway, so I'm wondering if I can slip that in?

I figured it would give someone hope. I felt hopeless. It was a long 6 weeks waiting! Not to mention the three weeks I had to wait for verification. 🙄

I sure hope that's just to make us go away and it won't take nearly that long..

Regardless, shouldn't you want to apply for it? It seems like such a good program for people with those interests!

Yep. Plus there's the fact that other schools have seen our applications and said, "Hell yea bro let's hear what this kid has to say," which means that we must've done SOMETHING right. Sigh.

I'm on the other side. I received an interview from UCSF, but haven't even received a secondary from UCLA yet, and they received my app over 2 months ago! It's quite frustrating.

Secondaries are great, but being complete is even better. I'm not sure why some schools take forever like this...Just seems like my app is going to be killed without ever having been filled. Oh well, the bay area is still the best.

i'm normally not too uptight a guy, but this whole process has turned me into an anxious mess compared to my norm. completed 3/6 UC programs secondaries (waiting on ucla-prime, irvine, and sf).

i have a question for people who know more about this process than myself. i was acknowledged by ucsf like 7/6 or there abouts. i mean, i can tell they aren't sure if i'm a great candidate but does length of time (after the initial week or two) have anything to do with chances i'll get a secondary?

It hasn't been 6 weeks for me so I haven't called.. Let us know how it goes though, since I might end up having to do the same eventually.

I'm getting close to 6 weeks if you start counting from the time I priority mailed my application in from within California (cashier said it would be delivered in 2 days maximum) but 2 weeks behind if you count by when UCSF finally acknowledged receiving my application. I probably won't contact them unless it drags on to 2 months post acknowledgment since they are probably bogged down this time of year

I'm not sure of the order they are looking at secondaries, but they received my secondary 2 weeks ago from the East Coast and I was recently marked complete...I would say it took about 5 weeks from when I submitted my secondary to get to being marked complete. I'm OOS.

maybe not during the summer (wind wtf), but it's nice in the winter. if SF had socallish weather, I would probably take it over LA (my hometown)
