Invite! OOS, complete 9/22
 
it seems like with UCSF invites come in sooner than rejections! did anyone with an interview had to wait the whole 6 weeks to get complete?!
 
Does anybody know if UCSF counts "demonstrated interest" for anything? I know some schools just make a small note on your application. I'm going to be in the area for fun, and was wondering if stopping in would be worth anything? (I've already seen the amazing campus and know about the wonderful program)

(I'm AT THE BOTTOM of the secondary list... 9/2 submission of AMCAS, and then release of 2nd MCAT score on 10/13--although I'm not sure if they put me on hold for my MCAT score...)

i wasn't complete until about 3 days before the 6 week deadline. once i actually became complete, though, it only took about 9 days for the invite. hope that helps!

Man, I've been complete for a month now - sure hope it's just my reviewers taking their time!

Congrats to those who got interview invites recently! I just received a bunch of hosting request so there must have been a batch sent out 🙂

Interview Invite!
Submitted 8/24, complete 10/15 (so yeah, over six weeks), invite today 10/27 @ 9:30pm. Very exciting! Definitely don't be discouraged if it takes a long time to get complete status.

Secondary Requested 9/30, Secondary Received 10/14, Waiting for SC notification, MSTP, Hope to hear something soon....
 
Did you get an email for the complete notification? Or did you just know from status page?
 
not a really nice school here eh. 12weeks was it? and they changed my status telling me i shud have received correspondence (ie. rejection).

its alright rejecting me, but for the rejection to take 15 weeks in total... and its still not here yet. wow.
 
^I completely agree.

I think it's ridiculous that the school would take (at least) two months to review applications and specifically say NOT to ask about the status of your app for those months. Ive been complete since 9/21 with no news.

I placed out of general biology and took Intro to Mol Bio (basically the general biology course for premeds at my school) with lab, Genetics without lab, Laboratory in Mol Bio with lab, and Biochem. Am I f***ed?

sorry to hear that! i was complete at the same time as well, but I didn't receive anything in the mail today. The next few days are going to be anxiety-ridden for sure!
 
Tuesday will mark six weeks since they received (but not verified) my secondary. Should I expect an interview decision on that day or if I call on Wednesday, or do they give a "complete" status without a decision? This wait has been surprisingly easy -- since they don't give any news I practically forgot about this school! I'm anxious to know my status though...
 
I'm curious about the waitlist. Are applicants ranked and pulled off the waitlist accordingly? Or are they randomly pulled off the waitlist (like Baylor)? And is there a lot of waitlist movement? Kinda early for these Q's...but just wondering!

They need to complete you before they give you a decision. So the first thing is getting verified, then you wait an indefinite amount of time for interview/rejection

The dean said everyone receives a numerical score. Each member of the group of adcoms looking at your file gives you a score of 1-10 before the meeting. The score is supposed to gauge how well you fit in this school, i think. If not this question, it was a very basic question that adcoms are suppposed to go by. This esssentially ranks everyone.

This is too rigid and numerical, so there's then a meeting to discuss the interviewees. What usually happens is that the top 1/3 in the list usually stay there. There's a lot of discussion on people in the middle 1/3. And there's usually one adcom that protests a member of the bottom 1/3.

After the debate/discussion, each adcom gives a final numerical score. This number can be different or the same as to their score before the meeting. Ultimately, the score after the meeting is what counts, and these are what gets added up.

Top 1/3 gets acceptance, 1/3 gets waitlist, bottom 1/3 gets rejections. My best guess is that your numerical score determines who gets accepted from the waitlist first.

I remember being told that it was in mid-December and that letters would go out AROUND the 20th. Anyone else remember differently?

Are interview invites offered over email? I saw that they never sent a "complete" email, just posted it on status page, so do we ever get an email or do you just check status page (or snail mail for the probable rejection?)

i got an email that my status changed, though it was three days after the date on my status page for invite.
 
Ugh this is killing me. Nearly 4 weeks since my secondary's been submitted (10/7)...not complete yet! 🙁

come onnn UCSF cash my check already! haha

They didn't cash my check until after I was complete, I remember it being frustrating for me too.
 
Okay, secondary complete after 6 weeks and 1 day! Now...8 weeks for review??? Wow, it took them that long to open an envelope... -_- Maybe news will come sooner, though.

The status update on the page was so terse, I though I had been rejected or something.

Did you find out via email or just by checking your status page? I rarely check my status updates, but if they don't send email, it may be worth it...

I'm actually wondering the same thing. I was complete on 9/22, so it's been almost 6 weeks. Nothing in the mail yet...:xf:

damn it's been the 4.5 week mark since I was complete for me....still no invite/rejection

I didn't think I would hear back from UCSF. got invite within 2 weeks of completion. wow. so excited.

11/16, 11/23, 12/7, 12/14, 1/7, 1/14, 1/19, 2/1, 2/8 or 2/16 🙂

We have exams on 11/23, 12/14, 1/25, and 2/20 so you might want to avoid those dates if you want to be hosted by a MS1.
