I remember Wofsy saying that all letters are sent out on the same day so we shouldn't get freaked out if we don't get a response as quick as others. Then again maybe the post office handles acceptance letters/packages differently than waitlist/rejection letters that probably weigh a bit less.

This seems a little weird because I live in Berkeley and I was at the 2nd interview day and I have received nothing yet. I also remember Wofsy saying all decisions are mailed the same day and since I live within 10 miles from campus I dont think that it should take more than a day or two to reach my place, regardless of package or letter weight.

I think that they have either not sent out rejections/waitlists yet or they have not reviewed us yet in the Dec meeting. I am hoping its the latter.

another possibility is that not all acceptances have been sent. I remember the admissions lady saying last week that a FEW acceptances will be sent before the holidays, and considering only 3 or 4 ppl have posted acceptances, i doubt they have all been sent out...but at the same time I don't think the waitlists/rejections get sent out at the same time as accpetances (based on last year and this year)

I interviewed on September 29. I dont know why I have not received anything yet. I remember clearly that Wofsy said you will for sure know the status of their decision once they have it so im hoping they did not review my file because I have gotten nothing so far.

If you have gotten a waitlist or rejection than please let us know SDN community! We are dieing here lol

Hello, first time posting on SDN. 🙂 I am beginning to get anxious about hearing from UCSF as well. I went to their very first interview date back in September and have yet to hear anything back. Was anyone else in that interview group?

I also interviewed on Sept 29 and haven't heard anything yet.

So no WLs yet, huh?

From what it looks like.. The adcom barely got through the october interviews. Regardless.. I hope I get nothing in the mail in the next week because that would mean bad news from my first choice med school. Hey lsu warrior.. Where are u at? Have u heard news? We interviewed on the same day... Nov 12th!

I also live in Berkley and interviewed in late September but did not receive anything in the mail when I checked last Saturday...sadly I think you might be right about them just not sending out the rejections/waitlists yet...🙁

Interviewed early/mid-November, live on the east coast, and no word yet.

I might have interviewed that day. 😀

I've heard nothing. I've got my mom checking the mail every day, twice a day. My confidence is high though, because my best interviews on the entire trail thus far happened at UCSF.

I interviewed early October and no news, and I'm in the bay. This waiting has been killer...

I'm beginning to think those accepted got cream of the crop scores in their post-interview score sheet, and the rest are sort of in a toss up between WL and accepted. Mail doesn't come January 1st either. :xf::xf::xf:

The optimist in me wants to agree with you but the pessimist says that they probably didn't give out WL/rejections because it'd be the worst Christmas gift of all.

We know that the office is closed until next Monday and so I doubt that any letters after the December 23rd batch have been sent out. Relax until next week! :luck:

Happy New Years everybody!

I'm going to be interviewing on Jan 5, wish me luck.

hey guys!

sorry if this question was answered earlier...should we be sending in updates of our grades from this fall? I interviewed in mid-October and nothing has really changed for me since then, so the only thing in my update letter would be new grades... is it worth sending an update, or is this something we're required to do?

So I guess the office opened up today? Anybody know what the deal is?

I interviewed in early Oct. and I called in today and they told me only a tiny group of letters went out in December. The rest will be sent probably near the end of January or beginning of February.

Also, they told me that the online status will be updated to "decision letter sent" but not until a few weeks after they mail you your letter.

wondering this also...
my plan is that the "grades update" is a good excuse to send an update letter but I'm not sure

Adcoms won't mark you down for sending update letters, so if you have new grades, activities, or letters, send them in, they can only help, not hurt you.

That really means that UCSF has fallen back almost a month from the schedule. I interviewed in middle of Nov and was told our group would be notified at the end of January. If October people are gonna receive decisions at the end of Jan, then our our group is probably hearing back in late Feb.
So much wait and uncertainty

accepted. interviewed 10/20. letter was sent in the batch, but i just got home from break. good luck to all!

To anyone who sent in a appeal letter this year or in years past- how long did it take for a response? did you send it pre- or post-secondary?

i received the same the cert email 5 times. did you guys get multiple cert emails?

Background Check Details

Details

Certiphi Screening, Inc. will procure a background report on early decision program applicants at the point of acceptance and all other applicants at the point of acceptance after January 1st. An e-mail will be sent to applicants by Certiphi Screening Inc., at the preferred e-mail address entered in the AMCAS application by the applicant.
Once you have provided consent, Certiphi Screening, Inc. will procure a national background check on you. Once the report is complete, Certiphi Screening, Inc. will send an e-mail to your preferred e-mail address requesting that you review the report prior to its distribution. Upon receiving this e-mail:
  • You will have ten (10) calendar days from the date this e-mail is sent to review your report prior to this report being made available to the participating medical schools who request this report. If you do not review this report, the report will be distributed after this period elapses.
  • You will be provided with an opportunity to contest the contents of the report within the specified ten (10) calendar day period.
Once you have reviewed and released this report, or after the specified ten (10) calendar day period has elapsed, the report procured on you will be made available to the participating medical school(s) who offered an acceptance and initiated the request for this report.
Additional Notes:
  • If this report has been procured prior to your acceptance by a participating school, the report will not be made available to that school until the AAMC receives notice of your acceptance.
  • Upon your initial, conditional acceptance to an additional, participating medical school, the report will be made available to additional, participating school(s) offering the acceptance, after January 1st.
  • The report procured during this process will not be released to any party other than the medical schools requesting this report. On the report, history including infractions and juvenile records will be displayed to the applicant but medical schools vary on the content they can and will view.

i actually called in at some point and it sounded like the wait was a few weeks, though likely postponed because of the break. pm me and ill keep you posted

I got 4 - but have been accepted at only 2 schools, so I wouldnt read too much into it

So all of wiatlists and rejections from that first batch will be sent at the same time? I remember someone saying before that the longer you have to wait the less hopeful one should be...maybe that isn't the case this time around then?

My status recently changed to:

Correspondence has been mailed to you regarding your application to the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and should have reached you by now. If you have not received it, you may call the Admissions Office. Please note that we are unable to discuss status information over the phone.

This was two-ish weeks after the letter was mailed. Hope that helps!

Wahoo, just got an invitation to interview! I'm so happy, I did not expect this! 😀

Can anyone offer any advice for lodging? Student hosts, hotels, etc.

Stay with a student host it's the best way to prepare for the interview (plus its cheaper) there is a link on the status page.

I'll try not to obsess over the incoming mail for the next couple weeks, then. I called but the guy seemed annoyed and reminded me not to call about this type of stuff, as we "were told during orientation" not to.

Congrats to those accepted, you guys were prob the top scores. I hope I'll be your classmate in a few months.

:luck::xf:

were any of you accepted folks prime? or has anybody been contacted about prime at all? i remember hearing they were doing it differently this year (waiting until after you've been accepted md? or no?), but i'm blanking out now as to how.

thanks 🙂

I applied for PRIME, and haven't heard a peep. Was thinking about contacting them, but haven't done so yet. I thought that they said they were waiting until later in the interview season and doing phone interviews, but not necessarily just post-acceptance. Will let you know what I find if I email.

So does this mean they are about a month behind on the WHOLE process? Coz they told you guys you would hear back by late December and now it seems you would hear back by late January. This makes me wonder if people like me who were told to expect news in late Jan would get pushed back to late Feb. I was hoping to hear from UCSF before deciding to book my flight to my east coast interviews.

first time poster here. I interviewed early oct. no news. I don't think they're behind on their acceptance process. I think the people who interviewed early and haven't heard back should be receiving waitlist/rejection letters soon (including me). just my hunch. I don't think there are any more acceptances coming out of the first batch of interviewees unless you weren't reviewed at the first committee meeting.

I really hope they sent just sent out a tiny bit like was said earlier. And since next batch is presumably late Jan/Feb, perhaps there will be waitlist movement (a secret movement only the admissions office sees), and that some ppl on the waitlist group won't even know they were waitlisted.

:luck:

From what I hear, the next adcom meeting is next week. I hope I'm in that pile!!

It seems likely at this point.

Could be, but they specifically told my group that this wouldn't be the case at my interview a few months ago.
