I'm on hold as well...I guess thats not as bad as rejection (I'm assuming they have rejected ppl that sent in secondaries?) They mentioned that we should feel free to "update with any additional info" I will be doing that asap! According to AMCAS I'm oos but technically should've put CT on as my state of residency. My parents are divorced (alternate claiming me) and my dad lives in CT, and basically all of my legal stuff is through them but since the other state I have partial residency has more schools I went ahead and just used that for AMCAS. Unfortunately unlike every other secondary I've seen that asks about residency UCONN doesn't 👎...I plan on updating them with my grades in my graduate program and about my actual ties to CT in hopes that it helps boost me from the hold status - I don't have anything to lose at this point anyways.

I guess it's good to know that ppl with hold status actually get interviews...🙁

**oh yeah they were pretty quick with mine...I was probably complete within a day or two and got notified of my status about 4 days afterwards...on a Sunday at that**

number 1 choice..excited that I got an interview, but dr. sanford told me to contact him in November to schedule it..I don't know what to think of that, lol

they were fairly quick, I got a response within a few weeks..first interview invite 🙂

who knows...maybe they just like to give you false hope w/ the "hold" status.

Scheduled my interview for Oct 23. They contacted me by email to set up the date. Got the invite in late August.

Does anyone know what the "full credential review" entails?

It means they look closely at your entire application. It's supposed to be a comforting and reassuring statement -- i.e. you don't need perfect grades and stuff to get in.

Ahh ok, I didn't know if it meant verifying ECs or something like that.

My interview there is a week from tomorrow, I'm really psyched. They gave me a list of student hosts and I was fortunate enough to find one that could put me up Sunday night. I'll post my experience when I get back!

You're going to have a great time - they were really welcoming to me and the student I met with was awesome.

Does anybody who has interviewed know how long they take to notify applicants after their interview? Is it by email? Phone?

My interview is on October 12th too! See you there!

For those of you that had an interview: I heard that Dr. Sanford assigns homework for the problem-based learning session. Is this true? If so, what does it involve?

Hold.....has anyone gotten off the hold status before?

Okay, so I my interview came and went and overall it was very positive.

The faculty is very friendly, the secretary was helpful and all the students I met with were very down to earth and talkative. The school's a little smaller than I anticipated, but the facilities were well kept and the practice clinic was impressive. They said you'd need a car to go to school there because your placement for the SCP could be anywhere in the state.

Both my interviews were very conversational and we talked all the way up to our time limit. There was one red flag during my faculty interview (she asked what I would do if I didn't get in anywhere this year, then followed up by saying she couldn't imagine that happening although UConn was not a sure bet because I am out-of-state) but everything else went smoothly. The student interview was a lot fun.

The most stressful part of the day was the beginning, where you're asked to introduce yourself and tell some stories in front of the group and faculty. I had to follow after someone from Ghana with two years paid research experience, so my story just sounded lame (and I'm pretty sure I dropped into a forced monotone cadence because I was nervous). Getting nerves to handle that probably just comes from experience.

The school focuses a lot on being a good physician and emphasizes patient care from the start. The class size is very small (only 84) and they have a true pass/fail system with honors available in your 3rd and 4th year rotations.

We ended the day with a PBL and 'homework.' You have to generate a problem list based on what you discussed in the PBL, but it shouldn't take more than 15 or 20 minutes if you were paying attention.

I felt good about the program, but that out of state comment is haunting me haha. I'll let you guys know what the admissions committee decides at the end of the month, and in the mean time, good luck everyone!

For all those who are about to flood this thread with acceptance notices:

1. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

2. Could you please let us know when you interviewed? This will give us (at least me) a better sense of when we may hear decisions from UConn

Once again, Congrats!👍

anyone submit beginning of september and informed that their file is complete? ..I'm starting to get very worried that my application got lost in the mail...

and truly PUMPED. Almost 100 % sure I will be attending.

GO HUSKIES!

(phone call today)

got the letter in the mail today...guess i wasn't special enough for a phone call, but i'll take the acceptance however it comes! 🙂

so, for those waiting, i'm not sure how UConn is revealing its acceptances...i would have assumed there was a batch sent out but this thread has been very quiet. and since it will probably be asked, i'm IS and interviewed towards the end of september.

anyway, best of luck to everyone waiting!

IS, also got acceptance letter yesterday dated 15 October, interviewed first week in October

When you say that you have to generate a problem list, what exactly do you mean?

Acceptance! I received the letter today, dated October 15. OOS, interviewed 1st week of October...

Lots of luck to those that are still waiting!

I went to my interview yesterday. Essentially, within a couple of weeks, Dr. Sanford wants an email with questions and/or ideas about the case study: further tests that can be done to diagnose the patient, plans for treatment, the prognosis, or anything else of that nature. I think it's just a way to see if you were listening during the group session, and are able to piece together information from everyone in your group. It's not too hard. Hope that helps!

I also had a really good time at UCONN, like lamorsa. The whole thing was super relaxed, the students were genuinely friendly and enthusiatic, and the location was beautiful (esp with all the pretty trees 🙂). Dr. Sanford was awesome.

Really hoping to hear back soon, because it's def my top choice! :xf:

UConn really is an amazing place. Good luck! :luck: :xf:

I didn't do the homework or send Dr. Sanford anything but was still accepted. I don't know if that PBL homework is really necessary

I just got an interview invite, come with the complete email!

Agreed. I think the "homework" is just so that you can see what PBL would be like--you are not expected to do it.

I didn't send anything to Dr. Sanford and I was accepted.

To those of you who have been accepted, when did you interview?

So I submitted AMCAS late owing to financial reasons, and it was processed at the end of September. I still haven't heard from UConn, and it's the only school that hasn't gotten back to me. Is this normal? Do they screen?

Hey, does anyone know anything about UConn's Early Assurance program? It says on their website they have one but that's it. 😕

It's two spots for uconn undergrads only during junior year

Is anyone else on hold for continue to review? I have my fingers crossed for the interview!

Interviewed yesterday (10/30) and had a great time. Dr. Sanford, the students I met, and my interviewers were super welcoming and genuinely excited about the school which really rubbed off on me. The collaborative learning philosophy and small class size also appealed to me. After visiting, UConn is definitely a top choice for me and I can't wait to hear back. (keeping my fingers crossed!)

Accepted! Letter was dated Oct 28 and I interviewed first full week of October (so technically second). Actually it was a great surprise. I am currently in DC for school and my parents got the letter at home in CT yesterday. They were so happy they decided to fly down that day and surprised me at my door with the letter of acceptance. It probably was one of the best surprises I'd ever gotten.

Good luck to everyone else.

That is an awesome way to find out! Congrats on getting in, and on having some pretty cool parents!
