that's the one I got -- tried to login and it refused my credentials. emailed them after hours yesterday, so hopefully it'll get resolved today or so.

so freaking stoked for Carolina. 😀
I did call them yesterday morning, and they told me to wait until after lunch. I tried again but to no avail. I sent an e-mail, so let's see what pans out.

Sorry if this is obvious, I just want to make sure!

For the Technical standards agreement, which is a .pdf file, do people print it out, sign, scan back in, then attach to the e-mail?

no, you have to mail it back via USPS. the only thing you send back via email is the actual secondary itself

See I emailed them - they said send EVERYTHING by email.

I sent everything by email and also mailed hard copies of everything. The can throw out one (or the other) in the recycle bin.. this way they get to chose and I've covered all the bases (or so I think)

so I got a complete letter from unc on tuesday
how long does it take for them to send you an email with interview information?

.So I was filling in my residency application (born and raised in NC, so it felt a bit odd to be arguing for my own residency) and the instructions said ." .If you are married you should also complete and attach the 'Spousal Supplemental Form.'"

Being the literal sort of person that I am, I recruited my spouse in the big hunt for dates. As in, the exact dates (mo/d/yr) that he has: registered to vote, voted, insured a vehicle, paid state taxes, aquired a driver's license, renewed a driver's license, etc. in the last 2 years. Needless to say, this took about 45 minutes of digging through files, pulling driving records, finding voter registration cards, and so on. I even wrote the paragraph explaining why my husband moved to NC 10 years ago. Today, I called the residency office with a question, and was told that I don't need that form - that's for people who haven't lived here long and might have to "piggyback" their residency status on a resident spouse.

So, er, save yourself an hour of work. If you're married, check to see if you need both forms before doing all of that.

It took about 1-2 business days I think, pretty fast.

So did you end up scanning in the forms and e-mail them as .jpg or .pdf?

Hmmm I don't know.... When you open up the pdf for the two forms, it clearly says to mail it.

PLEASE PRINT, SIGN AND DATE THE FOLLOWING TWO (2)
FORMS AND RETURN TO:
MD PROGRAM
OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS
1001 BONDURANT HALL
CB #9500
CHAPEL HILL, NC 27599-9500

But on the website it says to e-mail these two things..

I guess I'll just do both. *sigh
What did other people do?

Sort of off topic, but I called today about something else and happened to ask when OOS interviews will be offered (if they are offered at all 🙂). They told me that they will start reviewing OOS supplementals next week, and when I asked about a time frame (mentioning an arbitrary date a couple months away), they said it shouldn't take that long....

So in all truth, I don't know what that means in terms of when OOS interviews will start, but invites could be as early as next week and any OOSer with their stuff already in should theoretically be getting an invite or rejection within a month or two. Just thought I would share the info.

Question for you all. I'm IS and my AMCAS was verified around mid to late July. I haven't received any e-mails from UNC yet. Should I be concerned?

i emailed the supplemental and the picture, then mailed in residency and technical standards.

earlier in the thread a lot of people agreed with this. also, turnaround from mailing it in and them allowing you access the interview system is very quick

not at all, they're notoriously slow, but give 50% IS supplementals (don't remember where I read this number though..)

Good to know. Thanks!

I'm Oos so I don't know if it'll work the same. Also I haven't read anything about the photo. Maybe that'll only for people who gets interview invites.

I called about this. It sounds like they just want us to do whatever is easiest (and presumably stop bugging them about minutia...). Anyway, he did say that although the instructions conflict somewhat that they did intend for us to email all of the forms back in. However, as I said, you can mail them if you can't scan them.

I have a tablet PC, and a full version of Adobe. So I just signed on my tablet, copied and pasted my sig onto the PDF doc. Save and send 🙂 No printing.

Well, no I obviously DID print it to mail it. But you get what I mean.

I really think if you can.. just email everything AND send hard copies. I'm thinking its better to give them more than less... I mean - they'll just toss it out if its junk they don't want anyway... right? :xf:

Sounds like a good plan. Thanks to everyone for the input!

I'm instate and received/submitted my secondary -- and they sent me an email saying it was received on 8/19.. how long does it take once they send you that email to actually schedule your interview?

how quickly after submitting the secondary has everyone been hearing back about applications being complete?

I submitted my secondary last Tuesday or Wednesday, got the complete email the next day and got the email to schedule my interview this morning.

My AMCAS was verified on Aug 6th and I still have not received anything from UNC (but I have heard from my 9 other schools). I called them today and they said that they have not yet received my AMCAS and to wait another week and then call back and check...for some reason I find it odd that they wouldn't receive it but my 9 other schools got it almost 3 weeks ago.

All I can say is welcome to the joy that is applying to UNC.

they were one of the latest schools I heard from, so they're probably just slow on things.

anybody know what the deal is with reapplicants?

So even though it says in all the emails they send you,
In State Applicants

Our Interview Coordinator will contact you via email with instructions for scheduling your interview.

if you're in-state AND reapplicant you get reviewed to see if they even want to offer you an interview. I didn't find this out until I called them to ask about my interview time because it had been 10 days since they said my application was complete (I'm instate). Kind of frustrating b/c you expect to be an auto-invite.. but it turns out that's not the case.

I was aware of that tidbit. It's a disappointment for sure. This means that if you are a reapplicant you get screened twice as much as a first time applicant. 1st screen is whether or not to give you a secondary. 2nd screen is to see if they want to invite you to an interview. It's all a bit much . . . every year it gets more and more difficult.

Does it bother any OOSers that last year, no OOS people posted in the Interview Thread saying they got an interview at UNC? These are some steep odds we're up against.

OOS people may want to read Dante's Inferno and recall "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

Getting into UNC as an OOS candidate is about as likely as selling a fur coat to PETA.

Do they do this for OOS as well. Why no automatic invite?

Yep -- the reapplicants and OOS are reviewed the same way.. however, being an instate reapplicant favors more b/c UNC doesn't take a lot of out-of-staters..

The auto-invite is only for instate, 1st time applicants.

ok so need some help. most schools give you some type of e-mail/notification that your 'file is complete'.

the only thing i've received from unc is an e-mail saying 'supplemental received'. should i assume my file is complete?

thanks

Has anyone attended interviews or do you know what type of questions being asked at different schools?

Yeah - if you got the e-mail saying that they received your supplemental it means they have the complete application.

I noticed a couple people posted about this, but I was wondering if anybody else wanted to share how long between "complete" and "interview" emails took? I got the complete a few days ago but still no interview instructions, so I am wondering if I should call. Below some people said only 1-2 business days while others said up to 4 or 5??

It took me about a week after being complete to get the interview email, so I wouldn't bother calling just yet. I'm guessing the admissions office isn't crazy about being bugged when they're over their heads in applications. Don't worry too much either; there are still plenty of interview spots left in the first half of October.

Ahh, that's very comforting to know about the interview spots; that was my main concern. Thanks a lot! I'll hold off for a few more days then. 😎

Thats complete bull****. We have roughly 25 OOSers in our class, and they probably accepted closer to 40 or so while interviewing 80-100.

dude i thought u were at wake. i remember reading ur posts last year. u were all about the deacs.

The auto-invite is only for instate, 1st time applicants.

The website says that reappliants are screened by the committee and then will invite if made substantial changes to the previous year and tells the average GPA and MCAT and implies do not bother applying.
If after review you are invited for interview you essentially have been reviewed twice by the committee. They seem to be rejecting lot of reapplicants if they have not made much improvements in the applications. Any comments on reinvites chances of acceptance?

Hi guys,

Just wondering, those of you have scheduled already, do they interview M-F? If not, what days of the week?

Thanks!

(Sorry if this was mentioned once before, but I didn't see it a ways down and I didn't want to go through ALL the pages...)

M-F except Thursday. Tu/Fr are in the morning (8-2) and M/W are in the afternoon (11-5)

After losing all hope and forgetting about this school, I finally got the secondary today. I'm OOS and was verified before 6/24.

Fee is $68? seems like a random number.
