They said it can end up being pretty random...I'm sure the general trend is that the sooner you interviewed the sooner you are reviewed, but I think a lot of it depends on when your interviewers get their reviews in and when they're available, etc. so I don't think it's possible to know for sure that you've been reviewed. I would bet that within 2 months you can be pretty certain that you were reviewed at some point (just my guess though).

I think that what you wrote all goes towards the 6-8 weeks time frame for a decision on your file.

thanks for the helpful info. Gluck to all waiting to hear news from UNC - be it a secondary, interview invite, or final decision

:xf:

Any re-applicant in-stater's gotten interviews lately? I interviewed last year and completed my secondary this year over a month ago. I think I've made significant changes to my application (improved MCAT, better LORS, more medical experience, lots of additional volunteering and shadowing etc...).

I thought I would definitely get another interview here for sure, but now I'm starting to wonder.... Just wanted to see if any other re-applicants are getting any love from UNC lately

Yea, I'm IS and interviewed last year in January...got invited beginning of NOV.....This year I was complete in early Aug..invited Mid August and interviewed at the end of Sept.

Does UNC send you in notification after 8 weeks if you are waitlisted? I interviewed at the beginning of Sept, so my 8 weeks should be coming up pretty soon. I think they said they like to give more acceptances as christmas nears, so I am not sure if that timeline is accurate for people who interviewed early.

Good to know many IS reapps are getting some attention from UNC... I'm hoping the delay on my application is only due to the fact that I forgot to make the payment when I originally sent in my application. I finally figured all that out and got the complete email 10/9/09 (despite having submitted in early August).

I guess that was my mistake.... sucks that it may have hurt my chances and has taught me to double check and make sure every school receives there payment b/c I"m sure they won't even look at the application till they do!

I don't know the answer to your question. My best guess is that they just put your application back into the pile to be looked at later. I would love a Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas courtesy of UNC as would most people. Or for my Jewish friends out there . . . a Happy Hanukkah.

I don't think they put a time limit on the notification process. I know that when I interviewed two weeks ago, they said that they wouldn't even start admitting people until Oct. 15, so I'm sure there is a bit of a backlog of people who interviewed before that. The woman from the admissions office basically said that once you've interviewed, you could hear back at any point, from a few weeks later to a few months.

I wouldnt count on it. I know its hard, but try to relax. It may take a while.

Oh. My. God. Got an interview and Im in complete shock, since I had pretty much just given up on hearing anything. Good luck to everyone else and I hope to see some of you there!!!

Since the adcom meets every 2 weeks...and the initial decisions went out by 2 weeks ago some people from late Sept/early October should hear back this Tues/Wed since some people who interviewed late Sept were notified in the first group. Hope this helps.

I don't know if anyone can say when the adcom is going to meet. It's all cloak and dagger. It would be wonderful to know sooner rather than later.

well if you look at last year's chapel hill thread, adcom meetings seemed to be exactly every other monday with the exception of some holidays

Hey, I am with you guys when it comes to hoping they keep meeting regularly. I am just a little bit skeptical of many decisions going out anytime soon. They do say 6-8 weeks post interview. That is essentially 2 months for a review.

well i interviewed last week. highly doubt i'll hear anytime soon.
guess 1 week down 7+ more weeks to go

Anyone heard on their residency status application which they make you fillout along with secondary?

FYI- More acceptances out after today's meeting. Heard someone on the phone telling someone they got the call.

Got one of them tonight. Super super excited. There may have been a tear of joy. 😀

Interviewed 9/30.

Just got a phone call today informing me of my acceptance into UNC - YAY first one, I'm super psyched. Interviewed 10/20, In state!!

Congrats everyone who got in! I interviewed in sept as well, so hopefully i'll be celebrating soon too. Craustin, did you mistype your interview date? 9/20 was a Sunday (just trying to get a feel as to how long ppl are waiting for final decisions).

Congrats to all who got the call last night. Someone earlier mentioned that they may call Tues/Wed of this week...does anyone know if they strictly call on Monday nights after the committee meeting, or if they also do some calls later in the week? Just trying to gauge if I should be on pins and needles today and tomorrow, or if I should save that nervous energy for two weeks from now...thanks.

Yes - I meant 10/20. The committee member that interviewed me called and said they just got out of committee and told me the news. They meet every other Monday.

Who was your committee member?

Does UNC have a stats page like ECU that says how many acceptances and interviews they have given out?

That's awesome, congratulations! would you mind telling us your stats - mcat/gpa?

I'm IN!!!! just got the phone call😀😀😀😀

Reaction sequence: shock-->tears--> non stop smiling

THANK YOU UNC

i was told that acceptances go out based on different counties since certain quotas have to be filled...has anyone from the mecklenburg or cabarus county gotten an acceptance yet??

keep hope alive👍

Nice. Sorry if this was asked before . . . approximately (for anonymity's sake) when did you interview? Late September / early October or something of the like?

Early October (within first week)

For the person who was asking about counties, Mecklenburg here.

Not yet.. but I've been in North Carolina since I was 1 and haven't left since. Not worried at all about it. Unless they call to say there's been a problem, I'm going to assume I've qualified.

where did you hear this?? I kind of feel this is bogus.

Nope, but i can tell you last year they gave out 200 acceptances for 160 spots. Average mcat in the mid to high 32s and roughly a 3.7 gpa.

craustin, thanks for your response. nice stats!

I guess those of us who haven't heard back are cycling through the Ad cttee and subcommittee. I suppose that's a good sign. Are rejections swift at this point? So hearing no news is good news?

I think no news is definitely good news. My friend interviewed early last year and didn't hear anything until the spring..when he was accepted. I don't think they wait that long for rejections.

OOS interview invite! And I was about to withdraw...
