Are there differences between October and November interviews?

Not so much I think. I was told by Dr. Baker that about 50 of 58 first round get acceptances and 70 of 87 in the second round. So it is good to be first or second round
she said this year after the first 120 acceptance offers that everyone will be deferred until feb22 on a decision.

Just wanted to say good luck to all you November people! :luck:

Any last bit of advice from anyone that has already interviewed?

Just a warning, I volunteer at the Health Sciences Center and Phillips northbound is closed right now and all of Phillips will be closed starting Thursday...don't know if there's any other way to get to where we are supposed to park but the directions they provided will just get you to a blocked off road!

For all the people still waiting for interview invites, this is from an email:
We are meeting November 30th to select at least the January interviews, and hopefully the February. If all goes well, the interview offers for January should be out by the end of the first week of December.

OK. For those wanting to know about the November interviews, my experience was very positive. Everyone involved in the entire day was very helpful and open to any questions. The tour was great, but then again we had beautiful weather today. OU has a lot of great things going on right now (cancer center, diabetes center, simulation center, school of community medicine, etc.) I was impressed.

The interview itself was very low stress and conversational. It's great to have a medical student in the interview. I'll make a submission on the Interview Feedback hopefully tonight or maybe tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck to all.

I also felt that my interview went really well. It was very conversational, and everyone on my committee was very pleasant.

I felt pretty positive about my interview. Though I was little nervous at first I think it went pretty well. I was with the 10 am interviews. From what I have heard there is high acceptance rate for November interviews so that was encouraging.

hey, I got a card from Sally. Are all you that interviewed going to call after this weekend to get any hints from her, or you gonna wait till december 1st?

I'm actually in the dark as to who Sally is. The admissions contacts that I have are Dr. Baker, Dotty, and Lisa. I notice from your status that you're pre-dental. Did you interview for med school or dental school? This is the pre-med OU thread.

That's hilarious, December 1st is definitely a dental date.

I did ask that question during the interview and they had absolutely no idea. Ill have to run by the admissions office today anyways. maybe they will have a definitive answer.

I thought I'd answer this question and bump the thread in the process. The new grading system will be honors/pass/fail. Somebody did ask how they would calculate GPA, but it was a student fielding questions and he had no idea about that. He did say that GPA doesn't really matter that much when applying to most residencies. He said that outside of your USMLE scores and LORs residency programs generally look at how you perform in the pertinent clinical rotations during years 3 and 4. But, that's about all I've heard about the new grading system. Here's a link.

For the ones that have already interviewed, how many applicants were there per day

27 on my interview day. From how it was explained to me, that's the standard - 3 groups of 9 applicants. One group is interviewed while the other 2 groups tour the campus.

I guess it's after thanksgiving for you guys, waiting sucks

OU medical places the most weight on the interviews, by the way. And they're going to email interviews for medical school next week,

Aren't you the one who posted above that per an email, January invites will be going out in the first week of December?

Or are you being sarcastic simply because you did post that above?

Hard to tell on the computer.

Wasn't being sarcastic, just trying to start a conversation and was hoping that he/she would respond by saying they have some great insider information. I hope it's true.

Oh haha, I was just confused since you posted that earlier. I hope they send em out next week. The waiting sucks! I am a Texas resident so I am not holding out for OU simply because I know their preference for in state. So I'll be suprised and elated if I hear something.

I talked to the admissions director via phone the other day. They meet nov. 30th and send out Jan/Feb invites next week via email. Best of luck 😀

Anyone besides me wish they could be a fly on the wall in the meeting today?

So when you say next week, do you mean the second week of December? Or are they meeting today (Nov 30th) and sending interviews out this week.

So do you think they are done deliberating about the November people then? Sorry to be so narcissistic, im definitely in eager mode.

I just called the admissions office to get a status update on the November notification letters. They still have NOT been mailed, but should be mailed "sometime this week." Sooo... I guess we can take a short break from stalking the mailman and just twiddle our thumbs for a few more days!

Good luck to all those hoping for January interviews!

Hopefully, "sometime this week" means tomorrow... hopefully.

I imagine the next round of interview invites will go out sometime this week. But, don't take my word for it. Good luck!

I can't believe they haven't mailed them yet!! I wonder what's taking so long...

They are still celebrating the football win, probably hung over. There hasn't been much to celebrate this year.

I think you can blame the Thanksgiving Holiday for the delay. Last year people were notified before Thanksgiving, but the interviews were a week earlier.
I think they said 7 to 10 days business days.

Yes, that's what Dr. Baker said. Due to the holiday, it's been 4 business days by my count. But, I hope my count is short.

BTW - For all of you awaiting interview invites, they asked for 4 passport photos to be delivered to them at least 2 weeks prior to the interview. I just thought I'd let you know in case it helps you out.

4 passport photos? Do they want one from all angles, good side, bad side, aerial and inferior views?

Haha! That one was all about pride, man. 7-5 and ending with a win is much better than 6-6 and ending with a loss! But, I digress...

Yeah, I just used my OK county mugshots...

Seriously though, each of my interviewers had one. So, that's 3. I imagine the other one is for Dr. Baker. But, I don't know for sure.

They said that interview invites will be given out (hopefully) before the winter break. Thus, yes, it could be this week. Next week. Or two weeks from now. Yay.

Just got an email this morning with a January 8th interview date. Hope yall hear some good news in the inbox this morning! Last year my interview was Jan 16th, so hopefully the slightly earlier date and the fact that I was waitlisted last year can help me out.

Yippee! Got an interview invite for early January as well. OOS, so really wasn't expecting this. 😀

You don't say? So, I guess we'll be getting them in the next couple of days. :xf:
My letter is being mailed to my parent's house in Tulsa, so once you get your acceptance letter it would be nice to let us/me know about it.(so ill know to call and ask my parents)

Hopefully, I will be getting an acceptance letter. 😉 In any case, I'll be sure to post it here. So, stay tuned. Good luck!

Congrats and good luck to all the January folks. Any other January invites out there?

ACCEPTANCE LETTERS HAVE ARRIVED IN NORMAN, OK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo hooo!! Good luck November, interviewees!
