this is a great school. They seem to put a lot of emphasis on you matching into whatever residency you want to. Their average step 1 scores are pretty high too. the interviewer also took to time to read my file beforehand and did not need to refer back to it at all during the interview process. Only 4 people to a cadaver is very impressive also. They spoke about summer research to help you get your residency and they are even willing to pay you to do it. the area is quite rural which is great for studying. great school, great people, i was very impressed with what i saw in toledo.

2 weeks.

3rd year...

I was very impressed by the clinical rotations, you did not have to spend 8 weeks in FM, OB, or peds, which is awesome! Only 6 weeks! Which means you get to spend 3 months in IM and surgery. During those terms, they said you can pursue specialties rotations.

This is a huge plus to me, because then I will have the freedom to pursue my interests before I even start my fourth year. Which means that I will probably be far more decisive my fourth year, and might have time to do a big project. This is much better than having to be stuck doing a lot of extra time in areas you don't want to be in.

Does anybody know what their residency matching rate is for students' top 3 choices?

Accepted here! Just got the email yesterday. Interview 10/26.

Anyone know if we are able to hear from Toledo sometime this week about acceptances?
It's brutal to check my inbox everyday, every minute and and I'm getting restless, ahhhh....

Just out of curiousity, are you from SE Michigan? I know UT undergrad and law school consider a lot of the SE counties as in-state (at least for tuition reasons). Does that apply for the med school?

don't remember. i think it's above 220 though. 90% chance i withdraw my app from here. Really great school though, one of the few places I've been where i was hard pressed to find any fault with the school.

I am from SE michigan actually, but Im not sure if that has anything to do with med school apps as well...maybe so since I got an invite so quickly but who knows for sure

👎 Torture. I just received snail mail informing me that I have been put on the alternate list. Interviewed 10/29. Does anyone know how Toledo uses their alternate list? Is it like Vermont where almost all students are first put on the alternate list before acceptance? Probably wishful thinking. The waiting game continues until June...

Toledo was awesome, can't wait to hear if I got accepted. Jumped to the top of my list after interviewing there

can all you guys who have interviewed please post in the interview feedback please? It would be so much help for us who have interviews coming up...thanks!

Unfortunately, so far Toledo has been giving a lot of OOS acceptances in this thread, so I believe they accept a lot of people up front. But they have a reasonable amount of people who defer, so I assume the waitlist moves. Vermont seems to be one-of-kind with their "technique."

At my interview, we were told that there are essentially 2 alternate lists-- High Priority and Low Priority. If your letter doesn't state which one you are, call and ask. We were told to essentially equate a low priority wait list placement with a rejection. The movement of the high priority list can vary by year, but is sometimes quite significant.

For those wondering where you might be in the mix. Interview invite today, I was complete near the end of september. I will call tomorrow to figure out my interview date... we'll see how far booked up they are.

Got the email acceptance today! Interviewed 11/9/09.

In state
3.71 cum GPA
3.55 science
31Q

SO EXCITED!

received an invite here the other day. OOS, complete around Octoberish. Really excited seems like they accept almost everyone they interview

I believe it's around 70-75% actually! For OOS at least. 🙂

Sorry if dumb question, but just decided to send in this secondary super late, but do they accept AMCAS letters or do you have to mail LORs from your respective undergrad's service??

I just got a "continue to review" letter from Toledo. I submitted end of September and was complete on 10/12. I'm for sure going to send an update so they know I'm very interested.

I got this email 2 minutes ago. I thought they already rejected me but I guess they didn't! Should I send something in? I mean I don't have much to update but there are a couple projects I'm working on at the hospital: anatomy exhibit and medical mission.

Got the same thing - what does this mean? really? I'll send an update....
