if no email update has been sent today....will it happen later today...possibly???

Unfortunately, I think we have to wait until December now...

Oh well, a little disappointed, but to everyone in this boat, keep your head up.

Yea I was really hoping to hear something positive today....but o well. December is so far from now 🙁

Did you get the automatic hold message?

Hmm, I would call Monday if I were you, b/c I thought that everyone got the automated hold message.

Has anyone been rejected post-interview?

I think that if you haven't been rejected before now, you are on hold, and will remain on hold until the next decision date, with no additional communications from VCU.

Hey, it sucks. But, it is better than an outright rejection, and we are still in the game.

I just hope I get some good news from somewhere else before Dec 15...

I wonder if they release the status update at 6pm so that they don't have to answer phone calls from people? And the fact that it is on a Friday makes me think that too...lol a whole weekend of wondering...i didnt even get the hold message that everyone received so i am definitely going to call on monday

did anyone that interviewed october 8th get an acceptance?

Ahhhh!!!! I'm in!!!! This is my dream school!! I'm so excited!! Whoo!!!

I interviewed in mid-september and I still have a survey status that says to click the link to fill it out even though there is no link (because I already did it). I just want to know that they reviewed my file. I guess I'll call Monday...

OOS, Traditional, no notification or e-mail sent today. Guess I'm on hold. Looks like I have to travel to more interviews =/

I think the "admissions gods" are having some fun with us. I was all prepared to cancel an upcoming interview, but not now...I will be there with bells on.

Did any OOSers get in? It seems like a lot of accepted students were in-staters this time around?

Has anyone been rejected post-interview?

I was, I got the email yesterday...but congrats to everyone who got in!!!! 🙂

for those who are still waiting, I'm sure good news will come soon!!

I'm sorry to hear that. But with your phenomenal numbers who knows why they wouldn't take you. But congrats on EVMS (I LOVED that school too)

Congrats everyone who got accepted. 👍

Good luck to those of you still waiting.

The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview you will be notified by e-mail in March.

Anyone get this message? This kind of sounds like a very nice way of saying rejected lol but If you actually know what this means I would love to know.

Accepted. Wow. Sometimes hard work pays off. This is officially the best start to a weekend ever.

#4? for me? Is that the "we had some reservations, subcommittee" status?? ... boo..... I really liked the school... I'm OOS

OMG! Accepted today. Best feeling ever! OOS interviewed early Oct.

Best of luck to all that are waiting for December 🙂 I'm sure you will do well this season.

It's not a rejection. It's status #2 (out of 5) which is actually really good. You should be getting an interview invite soon. I was at #3 and I got an interview invite.

Withdrew w/ a #3 status because of an acceptance. Good luck to everyone and make sure you wrap it up before you...

I had this status. We labeled it as #2, but I wonder if it's actually #3, because I saw a ton of people with the #3 status get interviews before people with the #2 status. And I couldn't schedule my interview until February. But, it's not a rejection.

I submitted my secondary and fee on August 30, and my last letter of rec came in September 17. My file is marked as complete but has not been given any priority score or anything else. Any ideas on if this is normal or what should I do?

If relevant my stats are:

From NC, 38S MCAT, 3.6 GPA

Thanks for the help!!

Are these status #'s based on a perceived interest? or the actual priority score?

It's something that people were able to put together. There is no official priority score, but from what people gathered from early on the cycle, this is how they classify people.

I just got that message literally half an hour ago. I laughed at it because it was so purposefully ambiguous.

Someone above explained that it's a priority status and that it's either 2 or 3 group. Can anybody with knowledge about VCU's process explain more about it and the possibility of an interview now? I'm surprised that I received that message due to my stats being so low/high (3.3 sgpa/ 34S). I thought I would be outright rejected.... interesting.

I got this message and later got an interview. However, there are people that have had this message awhile and still haven't heard anything so it could go either way (like you said its pretty ambiguous haha they don't want to commit yet either way!)

Good luck!

We're almost stat twins. I got the same message when I had my status update (veterans of this thread call it the "may" message). About 3 weeks after the status update I was invited to interview. I think almost everyone that got the message received an invite so good luck! :luck: 👍

Sorry to be that guy, but when were you complete? I've been complete for quite some time now, with absolutely no updates. Starting to feel like they just don't care about me. Congrats on the may status.

I was complete in mid-Sept. and thank you. dont give up hope yet.

... are they working on sundays? I find it strange that I received an update on a sunday. Feel bad for those in the adcoms and offices if they're working weekends overtime.

Five weeks with MAY still waiting. 🙁

If anyone from October 8th interviews was also feeling lost and confused, i got an email today that told me we were just going in front of committee today, so i guess even if we are getting in we won't know until Dec 15th...

The admissions office usually interviews between 8-14 applicants per day. And typically interviews more/day earlier in the process. The ad. comm. meets once per week and 'tries' to get through about 45 or so but this is ideal and many times many not complete the list that day for a variety of reasons. So it does begin to back up from time to time. Unfortunately there is a lot of waiting in this process. There is a lot of hurry up and wait. Remember though the class doesn't 'fill' until the last offer day and is rank based. And around the May deadline for withdrawals there is a lot of movement in all schools across the country when those holding 12 acceptances are forced to choose 1 school.

I have lower stats than you (you can check my MDApps), and I interviewed already. Complete mid August, interview invite mid September, interviewed early October, but not early enough to get reviewed for Oct 15th I guess. I went to subcommittee, then to interview invite..not sure how that worked.
Also, I'm more OOS than most...as in out of country..😀

so..I'd say your chances are pretty high for an interview?:luck:

for OOS who interviewed early enough to get reviewed in time for 10/15, the dean said that they were focusing on getting the IS people in first before taking OOS during the info session. I'm guessing the OOS people that already got accepted really wowed them 😀

Hi everyone, love this thread and all the helpful feedback.

My question is this: for people who got a #1 status off the bat, does anyone know how good the chances are of getting an acceptance assuming interviews go well?

Congrats to everyone who has received their acceptances and good luck to everyone else!

I don't know a percentage or anything, but it seems to me from what was explained to us at the interview that if you have a score in the 1.x range, and have been invited for interview, it's pretty much yours to mess up.

Clearly pre-interview you had a score that was low enough to get you the invite. Your interviewer then "presents" you to the rest of the ADCOM, and they all score you. Your interview score(s?) then get factored in to your overall score. So, like any test you take, bomb the interview and you can easily put yourself out of competitive range. But, odds are if you got a #1 status, you have your act together and can hopefully perform at or above average come interview day. Just my $0.02.
