Does anyone have the link to the status page, I can't find it on their website??? I was verified July 2nd and haven't received it....yikes have I been screened out?

you should get at least one email from them saying they received everything from AMCAS. that email contain a link to where we can do our secondary.

Does anyone know if it is okay to send extra letters? I have four that I would really like to send, but I don't want to send an extra one if they have a problem with it.

My understanding is that it is fine to send extra letters to VCU.

So I submitted the secondary but the page still says I am incomplete. Any thoughts? I have all my letters into AMCAS, assigned to schools and resubmitted. Am I missing a step or just being impatient?

Maybe impatient. I'm incomplete too but I submitted it last night.

does it make a difference if we submit today or in a week, as long as we're still in the first interview block?

Really shouldn't make a difference. As long as you are complete by July, almost every school considers that more or less 'early.'

I don't remember if I got a secondary request for this school... if I did, it's on another computer! Anyone have the link for the secondary?

Actually I was looking for someone to say "yes it matters" so I felt better about canceling salsa dancing to finish this secondary. My mind has been twisted so much that I'm not sure where the line is between responsible and idiotic.

haahhaha thats cute lol

Mine is marked complete. It also lists my LOR packet and says that it was received 7/16.

How long does It take for them to process LORs from when I assign them to the school?

anyone found out about this? are you guys sending more than 3?!

I selected more than three on AMCAS when I did my primary and I went back to change it after I got the secondary but I got the message that said basically that my application would be resubmitted so I decided just to leave it the way it was because it seemed like it would be a mess...anyone else send more than three? I know that I selected that many for a reason...I did research on each school to see what they wanted in letters before I selected them so I am not sure why I sent all of my letters to them...

I did 4 its fine seriously. I sent 4 too all my schools its no big deal, some people such as peeps at my school are not allowed to pick and choose which letters they send, and they still are accepted.

I spoke with someone at VCU a few months back about this and they said most people send more than 3. I do not recall him mentioning a maximum but the general sense was it's always a "quality" not "quantity" thing. I sent more than 3.

Yeah I know that I sent all of mine for a reason. I couldn't remember if I had talked to someone that said there is no limit or if I had read it somewhere but I know I had a reason...

Question on behalf of VCU applicant, VA college, but not VA resident:

Is there a GPA and/or MCAT cutoff for in state applicants? How about OOS?

Thanks folks!

it might just take time before they get around to you. it seems like they're moving a bit slow. also, you should always check your status page because i was not notified that i was approved for a secondary via e-mail...

would you please post a link to the status page?

Well, at least they send an e-mail when your status has changed. I'm now complete, and... The Admissions Committee will now do a comprehensive review of your application.

lol. you can't deny that this concept is funny though. garbage letters - toss. lol

they probably do that...haha...that is how the 4.0 45 mcats dont get into their in-state schools...lol "FILE INCOMPLETE...because we threw away their lor's...they were too long..."

Wow I'm an idiot, I have had this secondary for seven days, just never checked it...nice

If I'm not planning on doing MD/PhD could I still talk about research in my essay??

yes. Though to be honest VCU does not seem like a very research intensive school or have a lot of opportunities in it.

ahh how do you write 500-600 words without bs-ing?! what do you guys find unique about VCU?!

other than the electives how is the curriculum different?!

I wrote 495 no BSing, although I did have a sentence or two for intro and 2 sentences for conclusion 🙂

same here. I wrote about 500+. I included an intro about myself and conclusion to sum it all up. I also mentioned that I have relatives in Richmond to show that I have ties to Virginia. 😀
