I had a conversation with a friend about this and there are two ways to look at it:
One being that if VCU were the only acceptance, you'd be set on going there.

The other view is that you are more attractive as a candidate because you have been accepted elsewhere.

How the admissions committee looks at it, I have no idea.

Actually, VCU was my first interview, and I loved it. They have a great curriculum and they have a diverse class. Their residency matches have been outstanding. I also have several friends who attend this institution.

Although I'll admit it would be tough to turn down my home school, it wouldn't hurt to go to a second look , if it is offered.

first of all, congratz on getting in a med school already! you must be really smart! but let's be honest here, all those diversity, curriculum, and residency are too similar across schools. heck we probably say the same thing to every interviewer lol :laugh:

I actually emailed Dr. WC, and she told me that people with my priority score have gotten off the waitlist before, but she's not guaranteed that it'll happen this year. So if you ask, she might be able to tell you something about your position.

Btw did anyone notice they posted the waitlist April 1st? I woke up and immediately jumped to my computer to see if I was still on waitlist lol. Would've been the most ******* prank ever if it says "sorry, you're actually rejected, APRIL FOOLS!":laugh:

Anyone knows approximately what percentage of people on the VCU wait-list would eventually be offered admission?
 
The people who got accepted: can you give me some idea about what kind of experiences you had? Obviously your GPA and MCAT were great. I was just wondering about the other things that VCU was interested in. Thanks in advance.

I think clinical experience is very important to them.

I maybe don't have that much, but I emphasized what I learned from it during my interview, since another school said I didn't do that for their interview. It ended up working. Good luck.

VCU Loves applicants that have a lot of clinical experience. They are also big on the type of clinical experience that you have. They value clinical experience in which you had a lot of direct patient contact, or in which you took a leadership role.
