Not to disappoint anyone, but it seems like most people with the "further" message" did not get interviewed by VCU last year. I hope my further message would convert to an interview invite.

Got #1 Saturday, got the ability to set up the interview Sunday. So 24 hours on the weekend, which seems strange.
 
ahhh i see one status update and run to my email only to find it empty again!

do they really send status updates on weekends?! woww..

How convenient for MD Apps to not be working right now - I really want to check out your stats - this is ridiculous. They waited till the middle of app season to do the update.
 
They're giving out statuses on a sunday? that's odd. I still haven't heard nothing... 🙁
 
wow Sunday night rejection?? cold VCU...

no idea how to check what my number was...but i guess it wasnt very high
 
I got the Sunday rejection too, but I was never given a numbered status, just the complete one. I guess they really wanted me out of there. I was complete pretty late though, last week sometime
 
i was complete pretty early... no number status on my page... just under review until the rejection email

Oh great I thought I was safe to get at least one of the messages after not an early rejection, now I'm worried again.
 
Nevermind, got the "May" message today (no email yet, but is up on the status site). Cool. Hope to hear soon.

btw it looks like they finally fixed the message:

The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview you will be notified by e-mail in March.

used to say "able" according to this thread. i think this makes a little more sense.

Anyone know what percentage of in-state applicants receive a secondary?
 
I got the further message today. Has anyone with this message received an interview this year? I'm intriguied at how specific they are with their messages, yet the outcome of the message is so vague...😎

I guess I can just hope for good news in the future?

I got the same message today...not really even sure what it means. What number does this correlate to? And has anyone ever gotten an interview from this message?

I think we ended up with the same reviewer, who just got around to reviewing applications. Congrats on the update 🙂

Do you guys get emails when your status changes? I can't help but keep checking the app site, but nothing except my complete status so far...

It will change on the site earlier, but the day it changes they will also send you an e-mail at ~6 PM EST.

Yeah I just checked mine - the status definitely changed from "able" to "unable"! (I got the status update last week, but the word only changed recently). 😀

Yeah I just got "further" today also... I think I had the same reviewer as you and ruiner!! And we were all not rejected 🙂

Darn straight. Now they just need to get busy and get us in there for interviews.

the weather there shouldn't be too bad in November, I'd guess like 50's-60's unless there's a wierd cold or warm spell.

120 Instate 80 out of state
If you are OOS male and Asian your chance 80/2= 40-30(Caucasian, Minority)=10
10( prob.4 Indian,3 Chines, 1-2 Pakistani, 1 Korian, Philippine.
I attended my brother White coat ceremony this year, there were 25-30 students from California if that is of any help to Californians.

Complete 8/6 and still status update either. I emailed but they said to just wait. I really, really like the school and would love to get an invite.

IIRC, you have to change the month and year to check for interview slots - when you first login, the month is set at January...try September, then October...I would be really surprised if they are all filled up until January, but maybe so.

I got a "may" message a month ago and received an interview invite few days ago...but I don't remember seeing Sept or Oct in the drop down box so I scheduled in january.
Reading last year's posts, it seems that VCU can bump up your interview date even w/o you asking for it. Is this true?

It's there, but it was not the first if the list. They listed it alphabetically the months for interviews. I didn't see September last week when I got the interview invite.
 
what's the earliest date now for people who haven't signed up yet?
 
I just got this crazy urge to apply to this school. I finished every one of my 13 apps in less than one week, and so I am feeling much anxiety about applying this late in the game.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

Also if anyone has any amazing pros and cons for VCU please share.

Further status today...complete 9/1.

Oh well, I'll hope for the best!

you should apply. VCU is awesome, students always mention superb faculty and a really effective curriculum. Pretty clearly seems like an underrated and underexposed university.
 
Got the complete message today! Here's hoping for a #1 or #2 status.
