Interview invite today, complete 9/17. If anyone is curious, my status on the website says "Preliminary Screen Completed"

I submitted on 8/9 and I did get a complete email on 9/17. My status didn't change right away to file complete, though.
Interview invite! Submitted first week of Aug, marked complete 9/17. The earliest interview date is now Jan 24 o_0 I can't remember for sure, but I think my status said "Preliminary screening completed" (which it still does) for at least a week or so beforehand. Good luck all!

Has anyone's status changed to "Preliminary Screening Completed" and not received an interview invite within the next week or two? I'm starting to think this may mean I'm on hold (its been changed for about a week now), but I guess I just have to be patient and see what happens.

When does Albert Einstein stop interviewing? I'm concerned that if the earliest interview date is in January that by the time it gets to the applications that were submitted later, the school will no longer have any available interview slots.

You may receive an email from them asking you to interview earlier. I sent my date of mid january because that was what they had suggested but now they are calling me and offering me november or december. If I were you, I would ask for an earlier date first hand to avoid any confusion.

I just received an interview invite (woo!) but like the past few posters the earliest available date is late January. I won't pass up the opportunity to interview, but I'm not paying $$$ for tickets just for a space on a waiting list, am I? It just seems so late :/

yeah I think I've had the status for a while. I don't think it means you'll get an interview. They're slow w/ status updates too.

So for those of you with interviews, if I understand correctly, you submitted your secondaries about 3-4 weeks before being complete or getting an email saying so? And then it took an additional 2-4 weeks for invites?

Wait, is that really correct? I submitted my secondary 6 weeks ago, and haven't heard a thing. I contacted them last week asking about the status of my application, and all they said was they will notify me via email if it is complete 🙁
Congrats everyone with their interview invites! AECOM is absolutely awesome: i've never learned so much and had so much fun while being so relaxed , if anyone has any questions let me know MS1 here.
People interviewing in Jan. are not interviewing for waitlist slots, weirdly i think last year was the only year that no one posted from sdn that they got in off the waitlist so there was very little movement but i know some people were accepted in June so those with late interviews still have a fair shot.

might you guys have some tips on how to prep for interview at AECOM?
off the top of my head, i'm thinking...stuff from youtube's zoominterview is useful (the standard what's a good doctor, why this school), looking up more info about this school might be good, talking to a student from there, and uh...then i'm out of ideas!!!

I've heard horror stories that MS4s don't get time off for interviews. Is that true?
From the MS4 i've talked to they rarely have problems getting time off, there is only a hard time if you end up in a mandatory rotation during interview season and need a LOT of time off ie weeks (it is done by lottery to determine when you do your rotation) but this can be remedied by talking to the student deans who will work with you. They, of course, understand the importance of interviews especially for certain specialties.
So quick answer- the MS 4 i know said no, except rare rare occasions, i think that is the same with any school though

I submitted the 1st week of August but was only "Complete" last week. I think they do it on purpose, to make us extra neurotic and crazy. 🙄

so, i've been complete for about 6 weeks. i'm not too worried yet, except for the fact that my status has said "Status About To Change" for about 2 weeks. i keep checking because i think it's just...about...to...change, but it never does.

Hi all! I submitted my sec at the VERY END of August and was just marked complete. So it took about 8 weeks.

If you interview early in the morning, you just do a lunch/student tour afterwards and are done usually by 130p or at the latest 2p. Its not very formal though so if you need to leave early or want to stay later to see something specific just let the admissions office know and they can usually personalize something for you.

thanks for the info! i'm interviewing in January and I'm super excited about this school! does the student tour include a pretty good look at the hospital facilities? or is it mostly geared towards classrooms/campus/study areas?
Hey chickpea9...Congrats on your interview! In regards to the tour, it is mostly geared towards classrooms/campus/study areas. The main hospital is about 10 minutes away in a different area of the Bronx. Einstein has many affiliate hospitals within walking distance of the school but it is not a part of the tour.

Its really not in a bad area of the Bronx. Pretty average urban area, at least from a New Yorker's perspective. I can understand why some people from outside the city may have that negative perception, but its fine there. Best kept secret about New York: its really safe now since '94, and there's not that many "rough" areas, as long as you're smart and aware. Much better than most other cities in America, especially when you take account of the population density.
as far as location goes, i think it's a plus that Einstein is in such an urban area, since I eventually want to practice in a similar neighborhood anyways. January seems so far awayyyy

Yeah, exactly. Einstein's location and rotations were a heavy influence for me. I haven't heard back from them yet though. Been complete since last week of August and my status just changed to 'preliminary screen completed' a week or so ago.

The Bronx is an enormous borough, just like the rest of them. Much of it is very suburban and picturesque. I am not familiar with Einstein's neighborhood but I know many parts of the Bronx that are not "ghetto" as you call it. In fact, perhaps the safest and most beautiful neighborhood in all NYC is in the Bronx.
Many parts of the bronx are nice, diverse, slightly suburban neighborhoods. Look at a map. Do you really think such a sprawling area could be all "ghetto"? Is it really appropriate to make such generalizations about a place that has a 1 million+ population?
please try to gain more context before throwing out such accusations: if you'd read more of the short exchange between myself and longshanks, you would have noticed that i wrote that the perception of the Bronx as being "ghetto" was one held by many applicants. later, i also said that the location was a plus for me when considering AE compared to other schools so...i don't really know what you're getting at.

Good luck. Bx can be boring but is definitely a true ny experience.
If you're used to suburbs the area around Einstein is a very nice "city-like" atmosphere with enough similiarity to put you at ease. If you're used to living in a big city, then the area will probably appear as a suburb to you. Like other people have said, it is pretty much just houses and multi-leveled homes around here with lots of small shops and fast food places (its been horrible on my diet) but lots of public transit to make the connection into the city relatively easy (3 bus stops right in front of school, one being the express bus to manhattan). During the day i can get downtown in about 25 minutes via express or 30-40 or so if i take the bus 21 to the 5 train depending on how fast my connections are. It's really nice that all the buses drop you off right in front of housing.
There are two hospitals Weiler and Jacobi that are RIGHT on campus which is awesome. Jacobi is the county hospital where you get to see and actually DO a lot - the doc's are really open if you want to spend some time and take a look during your time off to take you under their wing and expose you to different specialities. I haven't spent much time at Weiler because my first year course is a Montefiore (the university hospital of Einstein, about a 10 minute shuttle ride), but you do rotate through Weiler as well which is actually attached to Einstein's buildings.
Einstein gets you to do rotations EVERYWHERE around NYC except im not sure if there is an option in Brooklyn... Other first years are doing their rotation at BI which is right in an awesome area in Manhattan... its kind of a far distance to travel but Einstein sets up free taxi rides for everyone who has places to get to that aren't in the immediate area. One thing that Einstein is awesome about that no other school I went to did, is that for your required courses Einstein will take care of all the transportation, whether that means you take a shuttle or they get you an individual taxi to drive you there, no one really needs a car unless its for personal use.
Anyway i need to get back to studying Immuno, please feel free to msg me any questions. Don't worry about different opinions about Einstein, i can assure you it's really safe but as to whether it is city vs. suburb make the judgement when you come here yourself because everyone has a different perspective.

Congrats! I submitted my secondary the same day as you but just got complete yesterday. I hope I have similarly good news in 2 weeks. From everything I have heard/read, Einstein is a sweet school (one of my top choices if you can't tell haha). Best of luck w/ your interview and everything =) (though its months away)
