Called today and found out I was placed on the alternate list. Interviewed 10/30 and I really liked the school, but I hold an acceptance from another school. That's one less alternate for y'all. Good luck to everyone else.

Didn't know they offer them - a very pleasant surprise!

$15k/year for four years brings them on par with my state school.

I was accepted a couple months ago. This was a separate letter, emailed.

Was this the "Dean's Diversity Scholarship"? I received an application for it a few days ago ... or is this something different?

ACCEPTED!!!!!

Interviewed 10/29 😀

Finally - let the rest our lives begin!

PS: 25 degrees F. in Omaha right now =0

Such a quiet thread...just wanted to let folks know that I know of someone who received an interview invite December 22nd.

Yeah it's too quiet in here! BTW if anyone interviewed Nov. 6th you can call in to get your decision.

Thanks for letting us know! 😀 Do you know when they were complete?

I received my interview invite on the 22nd and I was complete on August 18th.

Can somebody who has already interviewed offer some advice? For lodging, is the student guest house a good play or should I go with a standard hotel? Creighton says that they aren't able to store luggage. Is this true? Do you have any recommendations about what to do with luggage during the interview day?

Any other advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I've heard wonderful things about the school and the community so I'm very excited for the interview day!

I stayed at a standard hotel ... it was actually within walking distance to Creighton. I took a taxi cab on the way there, and walked back to the hotel. I stayed at the EconoLodge hotel downtown ... looks a little shady on the outside but it actually wasn't too bad. You should ask your hotel about storing your luggage ... I don't see why they wouldnt be able to, especially if it's not too much.

As far as the interview goes, don't worry! So laid back. I had a professor/attending and a MS3. I thought I did absolutely awful on my interview with the MD. I have a lot of research experience ... and he was a bit old school and not into research at all. He didnt even know what regenerative medicine was nor did he care (which is the lab that I've been working in for several years). Oddly enough, I still got accepted. They did tell us that last year they offered about 800 interviews, and gave out about 500 acceptances. So you now have more then 50% chance of acceptance!

Good luck ... I absolutely loved the school!

:luck: :luck: :luck:

OH god!!! really? Will they tell you if you get rejected over the phone? Have they mailed the decisions. I may be too nervous to do it over the phone.

Got back to town over the weekend from Christmas break and found the big envelope in my mailbox! It was dated Dec. 23, so I almost missed the return deadline! Here are my stats:

Complete: 8/17
Interview Invite: 10/10
Interviewed:11/12
Accepted: 12/23
GPA: 3.62
MCAT: 30Q
2 years post-undergrad research

Good luck to everyone waiting!

Haha yea with the snow and the holidays, mail can take a while! I hope you hear soon!

I am not sure if they tell you over the phone. I know they tell you if you are accepted or wait listed. If they reject you they might say something like "we haven't made a decision on your app yet". I have no idea. Oh and my packet was mailed on 12/20.

Anyways contests to the newest acceptances! Maybe I'll see you all August!

Hey there, congrats on the interview invite. I have been off and away interviewing for residency (MS4 here), so I haven't been checking in to answer any questions. Regarding staying with a student host vs. hotel, as I have mentioned before, here's my take: Unless you have an aversion to staying in an unknown somebody's home, I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't stay with a student vs a hotel. The students that sign up do so because they want to host, meaning that you aren't inconveniencing them by staying with them. Putting aside the obvious benefits of being able to pick the brain of a real live M1/M2, you also don't have to pay for transportation to and from the airport/interview day.

So, per night, you pay something like $40 (find a hotel that cheap) and included in that price is a friendly face that will pick you up from the airport, take you to your interview (and probably hold your luggage in their car if you need a quick exit), then take you to the host dinner if you're staying that night as well before taking you to the airport. The hosts are supposed to have an extra bed (or a super, super comfortable couch) and you can also list preferences in terms of gender, allergies, etc. I stayed with a host when I interviewed and hosted a number of applicants during my first two years, so I can say that it's well worth the money.

Hope that helps!

anybody know how late they interview? any recent interview invites? I haven't heard anything, complete in early sept.

Hi All,

I was waitlisted back in October and called 3 times on different Thursday afternoons during open office hours to express my interest and check to see what else I can do to better my application (or see why I was waitlisted). Two times, I reached & left a voicemail but no one called me back...

Has anyone called from OOS and received a call back or asked about their waitlisted status?

THANKS!

I'm in the same boat you are. Complete at nearly the same time and have yet to hear anything. I'm thinking we will hear back in due time. It's probably just because we applied a little later than most.

I would say LOI hardcopy and or email if you really want to go here. And to Dispel the rumors of "If you interviewed on Nov 6th, you can call and get your status" I just heard from the Admissions Office that they will meet on Jan 14th probably which makes sense considering thats about what they told us on interview day. Hope this helps for people like myself who have been checking my mailbox every day with no mail from Creighton.

I was wondering the same thing here-complete early Sept. Not a word since. Can/should we call them or would that just bother them at this point? Can/should we send update letters/letters of interest? Any advice would be appreciated!

Does anyone have the Director's email address... I keep getting his voicemail when I call....

hey all,
hopefully i can answer a few of the recent questions:

creighton interviews fairly late, i believe into march last year- also they don't interview "for waitlist spots," if you are being interviewed you have the potential to be given a straight-acceptance

don't worry about when you were complete/thinking you were passed over for an interview- creighton re-reviews applications so just because they saw yours once it doesn't mean you won't later get an interview- i was complete mid-sept, invite in dec, interviewed early jan, accepted in feb- if you have questions call up or e-mail, don't feel like you are being annoying- the admissions staff is incredibly nice and helpful!

kachan- try calling again this week since the holidays always cause a disruption in admissions- they will be very honest and tell you things that they think would help get you off the waitlist in may, and i can't stress this enough- if you are waitlisted and really want to come to creighton, show interest and periodically call/send updates/etc.- this is huge for when they re-review your file in may

hopefully this was helpful- also STAY WITH A HOST! it really is a great deal and we are awesome 🙂

Just got my email invitation for an interview date in February. Even though I don't have a lot of experience with this school, I agree that the admissions staff is both friendly and helpful. When speaking with a staff member I was given advice on which part of my application seemed a little weak. He encouraged me to send an update on my senior year grades as well as anything else that may help make my file stronger.

Congrats on the interview invitation! May I ask around when you were complete?

Has anyone that interviewed on Dec 4th heard anything yet? Please keep me posted!

Received an interview invitation! My options were Feb 11, 18, and 26 for those of you wondering.

Interview Invite! I received it yesterday, but didn't check it until this morning. My story is pretty interesting, so maybe it will give some of you still waiting some hope! I was complete 8/4 , sent an update 10/11 , rejected pre-interview 12/9. Called to get feedback on my app 12/13. Interview Invite 01/14. Moral of the story : If you really want it, let them know! Good luck to everybody.

When you sent your update letter did they acknowledge receiving it at all? I have sent two and they didn't respond at all to either (other schools replied to the email thanking me for the update and telling me they'd add it to my file, etc).

So this is part of the reason I got extremely lucky. When I called to get feedback on my app after the rejection, it became apparent (based on the critiques) that my update letter had not been included in my file. After asking about the letter, it turned out that it had not been added to my file. What impressed me was that the director found the letter, saw that I had sent it in October, and re-opened my file to be reviewed w/ the letter included (which was very unexpected and I am very very thankful!). So I definitely recommend calling, expressing interest, and ensuring that your letters have been added to your file. I know that on Thursdays you can call and speak with the director of admissions himself, which really sets Creighton apart. Hope this helps!

I sent a LOI/Update on 12/10. Called after reading recent post to make sure that it was received. The lady on the line was a bit annoyed when I asked if she could check on whether my update letter was added to my file. She said, "I'm sure it probably WAS added." I politely asked if she could double checked and thanked her for it. Needless to say, they did not receive it!! 😱

Resending right now!! Call and check on your LOI's people! Creighton does not send conformation that they received it!

I got the call at 4:24 today............ I'm in! I'm so excited!!!!!!! This is my first acceptance!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 I interviewed 12/3 by the way

I called again...somehow no one ever returns my voicemails even during open office hrs Thursday. Maybe Creighton just doesn't want me since I'm on the alternate list. 🙁

Kachan, don’t get discouraged! During the interview day I remember them saying they are big on updates (I’m waitlisted also). You can keep calling, but I would also send e-mail updates/letters of interest so they have it in writing.

Congratulations. your post prompted me to call them. I also sent them another update letter too. Hopefully it helps me some.

I read someone else also post a similar story recently in the UIC thread. Crazy stuff.

Are they still sending out interview invites? Or is it too late?

When you called had your letter actually been added to your file, or was there an error like in the original poster's case?

Just awarded a scholarship! Yay, I love this school 🙂. It covers about 25-30% of the total tuition. Definitely will help!

Congrats! I'm assuming this is merit based? If so, double congrats!! 👍

Has anyone who interviewed on December 4th heard anything yet? Approaching the 8-week mark...

Got the phone call last friday!! Interviewed 12/3
😍😍😍:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I was just awarded the same! Do you know when we received our full financial aid letter? Maybe I am jumping the gun here...

Not sure! I just received the e-mail with an attachment stating my amount and a form I had to e-mail back within 2 weeks saying that I'm accepting the scholarship. So exciting! 🙂

Btw, does anybody know when's the first day of orientation? ... just called. Orientation starts on the 10th (as of now), white coat ceremony that friday, and classes start the next Monday.
